"Nice to see you too, jeez." Kyle grabbed his side, hurt obvious in his features.
"Can't say the same. Why was my best friend drowning in her own tears? She was looking for Allen earlier. Fuck, he's been ghosting her for more than two days." She put both her hands on her waist, a stern expression on her face. "Ten minutes later, I find her crying in a corner. Care to explain?"
Kyle sighed, dropping his gaze.
"It's not what it looks like." Was all he could muster before her eyebrows darted up in disbelief.
Her heart shrank, not believing he could dismiss her best friend's feelings like that.
"You—" Cassidy stopped mid-sentence, one of her hands flying up as she was about to slap him; making him flinch. But restrained herself only because it was not the time. "Don't give me that crap."
"Alright!" He answered, exasperated. "I only said it because it's the truth. Allen didn't mean what he said."
He breathed air in, preparing what he was about to say.
