Uncertainty filled the air, followed by a soft, unsettling sigh.
Kyle looked away from her, letting his hand drop to his side.
"Please take it easy on him, he's not in good shape."
It was obvious he was going to say something different, but Cassidy didn't dare to ask.
She slowly nodded, her stare glued to the collar of his shirt. She didn't want to look up anymore, as she felt responsible for his bad mood. For the first time in her life, she felt she didn't have anything to say.
Kyle sighed once more before stepping away from the car, quickly followed by her.
They walked towards the elevator and got inside the moment it arrived, leaving them on the third floor.
Cassidy followed Kyle through the hall and stopped in front of a white door, marked by the name of "Allen Hayes". Kyle knocked on the door, a soft "Come in" grating them permission to come in.
She swallowed as the doors slid open.
