Deimos had been administered to a field hospital by the man as soon as he entered the camp. The man spoke with authority when he told the nurses and doctors to give Deimos, priority care over the other patients. This was Deimos's second clue that the man was someone of importance.
The first clue was when every other soldier who saw the man saluted and called him Sir. This led Deimos to believe that the man was either a Lieutenant or a Captain, but based on the respect he was being given, Deimos would bet on the latter. Closing his eyes, Deimos fell asleep comfortably for the first time in a long time.
Opening his eyes, he glanced at the clock only to realize he had slept for over 16 hours. The previous day's events had taken their toll on him, and he had no idea. Thankfully, his trip to the hospital couldn't have been better timed. He had a lot of thinking to do, especially about his future. He was currently a Pokemon-less orphan who was a Levy in Cragspur's army.
He was at the lowest of the lows that one could get. Luckily for him, he had nowhere else to go but up. Hopefully, the Captain would recognize that he had potential based on seeing him survive the latest battle with the dreadful side injury.
Closing his eyes and thinking to himself once more, Deimos thought about whether it would be beneficial to stay in Cragspur. In the game Pokemon Conquest, where the region of Ransei's adventure takes place, the protagonist comes from Aurora and sweeps east by conquering Kingdom after Kingdom. The antagonist, Nobunaga, dominates the entirety of the West before being stopped by the Kingdoms of Illusio and Terrera.
However, this hasn't happened, considering Dragnor and Nixtorm are still at war. It's shown in the game that Nobunaga has captured a shiny Rayquaza, so either he hasn't caught it yet or is only willing to show his trump card after he's assured of his victory.
Either way, Deimos thought, if he wants to beat Nobunaga and conquer Dragnor eventually, he would need a legendary Pokemon to contest against him. But an even better idea would be to train up a team of Pokemon to where they can beat a sole legendary Pokemon.
Ransei is still very old-fashioned when it comes to owning Pokemon. Everyone in Ransei only owns one Pokemon; no one owns two or more. With that in mind, it doesn't matter where he starts as long as he is free. But he does need one thing to conquer Ransei. That is the status of a Warlord.
Without the status of being a Warlord, Deimos would be unable to achieve his goals. Most Kingdoms are led by experienced Warlords that would be hard to defeat for their positions. The strongest are Nobunaga of Dragnor, Kenshin of Illusio, Shingen of Terrera, Yoshihiro of Pugilis, and Mitsuhide of Nixtorm.
One could honestly consider Nobunaga as the Champion with the strength he most likely has, and the other four as elite four members with their power. All other Warlords of the various Kingdoms could be considered Gym Leaders for the best and Ace Trainers for the worst.
Deimos still had no idea what era he was born into. Was he a part of, before, or even after the generation with Ash? He would have to deal with the league if he managed to unite Ransei as a singular region. This meant he'd have to deal with powerhouses such as Cynthia, Leon, and Steven.
There are so many possibilities and so many choices to make. However, looking at it from a fresh perspective, there is only one place he should go if he wants to consolidate power quickly. Aurora. It has no current Warlord, and from the rumors and news he's heard, it's currently undergoing a civil war for the leadership of the Kingdom. It would make it the perfect place to consolidate his power and build a power base.
Sighing, Deimos opened his eyes and refocused on his surroundings. Considering his injuries are only superficial after being treated with potions, it was likely he'd be released from the field hospital quite soon. Probably when the supposed Captain returns, which speak of the devil, and he shall appear.
With a flourish, the 'Captain' walked into the field hospital and approached Deimos's bed. A doctor immediately came to the 'Captain' after seeing him enter.
"Is he ready to be released?" The 'Captain' asked the doctor bluntly.
"Yes, Captain Ujiteru, his injuries were superficial, and we treated them with a potion. He should make a full recovery by tomorrow." The doctor spoke back quickly, unwilling to displease one of the highest-ranking Cragspur officers.
"Good, Levy, come." Captain Ujiteru said before turning and leaving the field hospital.
Rolling out of the hospital bed, Deimos got to his feet before speed-walking to catch up to the Captain. He figured the Captain would like to see him after he recovered, considering he asked for him to get priority treatment. However, he had no idea what he wanted to see him for. Until today, based on his memories, he was just an ordinary Levy.
"Sir," Deimos called out, making sure to use the proper honorific and respectful tone, considering the Captain could make his eventual plan very easy or difficult to execute.
"What do you need me for? I'm just a Levy, nothing special, Sir." Deimos said, finishing his sentence.
"You're wrong." The man said mid-stride. Without saying anything more or breaking his stride, he continued to make his way toward the storage facility located within the camp. Arriving in front of the storage facility, the guards posted at the front stepped aside to allow the Captain and Deimos entrance.
After making their way inside, the Captain said while walking down a short hallway, "Most people would die after getting hit by a sludge bomb. Whether by taking their life because of the pain or slowly dying after their body shuts down because of the poison."
Opening a door at the end of the hallway, the Captain entered, standing still and saying, "Where others may only see someone who survived a sludge bomb by luck, I see someone who survived through perseverance."
"I see," Deimos muttered before looking around the room. The room contained hundreds of pokeballs, each labeled with Zubat, Ekans, or Roggenrola, and at the very end, in what appeared to be a position of honor, three pokeballs labeled Aron, Sandile, and Rhyhorn sat.
"You lost your Ekans in the last battle." The Captain stated with no emotion. "While most soldiers would not get the opportunity to claim another Pokemon until they have enough merit points, I am allowing you to select a Zubat, Ekans, or Roggenrola without having the required merit points."
At this moment, Deimos's heart cried out in heartbreak. Aron, Sandile, and Rhyhorn were three Pokemon with powerful final evolutions; any could've helped him complete his goals. Unfortunately, Captain Ujiteru didn't feel like giving him a rarer Pokemon.
Deimos chose relatively quickly; Zubat and Ekans could easily die on the battlefield due to not having a strong first evolution. With Roggenrola, however, it was a different matter. It could easily withstand a few what would be lethal blows to a Zubat or Ekans.
With his mind made up, Deimos turned and told Captain Ujiteru, "I would like to have a Roggenrola."
"Smart decision," the Captain replied before unlocking and picking up a Roggenrola pokeball and tossing it to Deimos.
Catching the Pokeball, Deimos was about to release the Roggenrola before the Captain spoke and said, "Don't release it in here; it may be tamed, but we don't want anything in here damaged."
"Yes, sir," Deimos replied in understanding. Looking back, it would be pretty dumb to release it here. If the Roggenrola did cause any damage, he'd be liable. Deimos could only imagine being deployed to the frontlines with only a knife; that would not end well.
Once they exited the storage facility, the Captain turned to face Deimos and held an envelope out.
"Your orders are in here. The specifics are inside, but you are to report back to the southeastern battlefield. You'll be doing something for me while you're there. Once you reach the battlefield, open the envelope, read it, and burn it. Is that clear?" Captain Ujiteru said with a stern voice.
"Yes, Sir. Return to the eastern battlefield, reach the message, and burn it immediately." Deimos replied to let the Captain know that he understood the orders.
"Good, dismissed." The Captain said before spinning on his heel and striding away towards the Officer section of the camp.
Taking the envelope and placing it within his uniform, Deimos, like the Captain, spun on his feet and started walking in the opposite direction towards the camp entrance. Every second mattered to him; he had a long way to reach his goal, and this was only the beginning.
