"So how can you see?" Lucian said his face lit in curiosity.
The phantom creeper looked at the boy, wondering if it was getting tricked but looking at the curiousity lit in the boy's eyes and his innocent expression, decide to tell the boy, he considered his new friend, well until it's hunger took over it. But at least for now, he can satisfy it's food of his curiousity.
"We phantom creeper are one of the lowest races in the Infernal World. Even though I've never met a second me before as I've been locked in this place from when I could remember, but strangely I could know everything about me, as if it's been imprinted into my head since young.
We phantom creepers though one of the lowest of the Infernal races, are pretty powerful among the lowest tier races due to our speed and absolute senses. We can easily assassinate beings stronger than us in a flash but every power comes with it's own flaws.
A flaw not many of other races know about us: We Phantom creepers are blind. But we can "see" even clearer than most due to a major discovery, something none of the lower races can do.
And that is our unique ability to sense"The Wave". the phantom creeper said it's voice brimming with pride.
"The Wave?". Lucian asked never having heard that term before.
"Yes, the wave. Everything in this world possess a unique wave. It is present everywhere and flows around our body. We phantom creepers are able to easily sense this wave, making us sense the environment with great precision, with this nothing can escape our senses.
Besides, the waves moves slowly making us feel like everything around us is happening slowly." The phantom creeper said, once again blowing away Lucian's mind who had never heard of anything like that before.
"The waves, although moving slowly around us actually empowers us Phantom creepers, making us extremely fast. Slowing everything around us but enhancing our speed, it's a natural law of yin and yang.
To master the wave is to empty ones mind and focus on the surroundings. To feel nothing and hold nothing. Hung within that which is not to quiet nor too fierce. In the middle of a fight or meditation. Paying attention to the smallest movement of air waves and it's direction. It requires a talent for great senses.
And takes a lot of time. I think we phantom creepers being blind greatly..."
Lucian diverge his attention from the phantom creeper as his mind worked with full speed.
He now had the key to winning this impossible battle. He knew how the abomination before him could see, and the reason for it's supremacy over him.
Lucian immediately arrived at a conclusion. From what he was told, he wouldn't be able to defeat the monstrosity due to its speed and shocking power, so there was only one way left to win this battle.
Lucian suddenly closed his eyes as he took a silent deep breath in calming his minds of all emotions.
His face turned serious as he repeatedly thought to himself
'To empty one's mind and focus on the surroundings. To feel nothing and hold nothing. Hung within that which is not to quiet nor too fierce... Paying attention to the slightest movement of air particules...'
Lucian felt himself slowly sinking in his own consciousness as he slowly fell into a half awake and half unconscious state.
To Lucian, it felt as if the world was suddenly growing quieter, the unending rattle of the Phantom creeper sounded like coming from a far distance, as he felt them slowly disappear and became out of reach.
The silence was stifling, as time to Lucian became an infinite index. How long it had been, maybe a second or eternally, he didn't know.
This was when an incredible transformation began. Lucian suddenly felt himself slowly awakening, but it was a different feeling this time, as even though his eyes were closed, he could strangely "see" everything around him.
The air floating by passing and brushing on his skin. The hair on his body gently drifting to the air. The dust particles present in the air, everything seemed so clear and slow.
He suddenly began spreading his range of his senses as he felt his senses moving forwards covering the space in front of him as they moved towards the front of the phantom creeper but stopped just an inch from touching it.
Lucian felt his sense range stop just an inch from touching the phantom creeper and enabling him to sense every of it's minute movement.
He only needed to be close to the phantom creeper a little but he knew any single movement of his might immediately alert the phantom creeper and he only had a single strike to finish it off or he'll be the one dying next.
While the situation was incredibly dangerous, he needed to act fast and catch the distracted phantom creeper by surprise.
Then I can only rely on this then.
Lucian slowly wrap his right hand around the katana head, as he summoned every single energy present in his body making his hand bulge massively under his clothes as his entire body was stretched taut like a string ready to explode with unbelievable strength but Lucian kept agitating and compressing them even more.
"Like now if I were to sense the Wave around you. I can feel your..Hmmm..your body is suddenly stretched taught, your muscles are vibrating intensely while the air around you is strangely very still as if under pressure, normally this is usually the sign of..." the phantom creeper's eyes suddenly widened as it immediately bust back with speed.
At the same time Lucian screamed in his head.
'Now', "BANG"
The air present in the dark cave exploded with a bang sound rippling outward in a circular manner as Lucian burst forward with all the energy he could gather.
"SHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIING...
"
His katana dragged out from its sheath in the next split second, causing the air around it to be sliced apart as a blade light flashed through the dark cave like a shooting star.
The phantom creeper's eyes widened as the blade instantly appeared on its neck. Even though it quickly retreated after sensing something wrong, it seemed to have sensed a little too late as the blade passed through it's neck with no resistance but who was the phantom creeper.
It was an Infernal being, though one of the lowest of races, malevolence ran deep in it's blood.
The phantom creeper seeing it could not escape certain death, decided to risk it all.
Lucian's blade cleaved forward with speed instantly passing through the neck but his eyes also widened as he felt a large bony claw moving towards his left shoulder with monstrous speed as two objects soared into the air in the next second.
A young man with raven black air stood upright, an unsheathed katana dripping with dark blood present on his right hand while blood oozed out from his left shoulder which had it's entire left arm cut off.
Lucian stared at the decapitated head laying in front of him.
Deep within the six eyes present in the head lay the slightest flicker of a soul which was slowly fading away.
Lucian stared at those ghastly six eyes the regret and confusion in them extremely clear as he replied.
"I'm sorry, but I only want to survive too."
Anger, madness, and regret flashed in the phantom creeper's head at its last moment as it thought of the reason for it's untimely demise.
Was it arrogance?. No, that was just a part of it. It's mistake was really simple. It got blinded by its dream of finally having someone who could understood it but he forgot the world doesn't work like that.
None is willing to die and become another's food. In the end they were life and death enemies. Something he forgot for a split second.
But was trusting someone a bad thing. Was being lost a second after achieving one's dream too much to ask for.
Unfortunately it was in this broken world, where races will do anything to survive.
It died to the blade of someone it trusted for the first time. Thrust into the emotion of betrayal after fulfillment.
But who is to blame?. In the end only one thing matters, and that is survival.
