Lucian felt the whole world around him went still before everything returned to normal once again as he felt his sense of control returning to him. Slowly getting up from the floor, his senses were slightly disoriented and a bit foggy, he was quick to get himself up.
He looked at his body heaving a sign of relief when he found out that he wasn't missing any part but his gaze turned strange as he stared at the chains bonding both of his hands tightly, musing when that got there when suddenly his eyes dilated as he dodged his head sideways avoiding the head that was heading on his way as the blood splashed on his face.
Lucian's eyes widened in horror as he looked around the place. Uncontrollable fear gripped him while his stomach tingled a little making him feel like puking.
The entire ground was covered in red water which submerged his feet up to his ankles as different body parts laid in them. Except this wasn't red water but fresh blood.
Occasional war cry filled the entire place as humans who all had their hands bonded together with chains kill each other in the most brutal way possible.
"This..." he was in the middle of a war and looking at his hands which was bonded, it seems he had also been included in whatever was happening.
He didn't know what was happening but thrown in the middle of a war and instead of being given a weapon, he had both arms bonded and automatically useless.
One thing was sure:

A voice rang out in his head directly
"Welcome to the first Infernal Gate trial, the Slave Survival trial.
Rules are as follows:
There are 100 slaves remaining on the grounds, only 10 slave will be chosen to partake in the next trial, while the others will perish. About an hour is left, after which there must be only ten people remaining or everyone dies."
Lucian's eyes widened after hearing the notification as he just couldn't believe what he was hearing but the sea of blood and different mutilated corpse spoke the reality.
'Out of 100, only ten must survive, or everyone dies...' He was immediately brought out of his thought when a leg slammed into his ribs as he was immediately blown away with speed slamming into the ground.
Lucian felt horrifying amount of pain fill his mind, as he immediately coughed out blood from his mouths with pieces of tissues in them.
"The power behind that kick...it was like being hit head-on by an angry bull."
Lucian raised up his heads as he saw the person responsible close on him with speed as a blow landed on his head throwing him into the air upwards from his sitting position.
Lucian's body repeatedly ricocheted off the ground as his back slammed into the wall forcing him to a stop. Blood poured out from his head, as all his muscles became paralyzed from the pain.
His mind went hazy as the world around him seem to have been turned upside down but one thing was unmistakable.
The claw shaped hand heading for his neck.
Time seemed to crawl into a stop, as Lucian felt the claw moving towards his neck.
He had no doubt it will immediately reap open his neck and send his head flying into the air in the next second.
'Dodge, doge, move away...'Lucian screamed to himself but his muscles didn't move a single step. His mind was cloudy and his body unresponsive.
Lucian watched as death inched closer to him as he muttered to himself,
"Is this it..." he came here in high hopes of getting stronger but seems he'll be dying to his first opponent in the first trial.
Even after being given a chance, he'll end up ruining it due to his lack of strength.
'Why do I hesitate, why do I feel fear all the time...'Lucian muttered to himself as he thought of his actions. Whever he was humiliated he'll always never fight back and will choose to be quiet instead.
He had always wanted a peaceful life when the smallest type of hardship happen to him.
He had always thought it was because of Mia's safety that he chooses to not fight back or show disapproval but even know when he knew she was save, he still hesitated.
His body was ready to move, but his mind was unresponsive.
The claw creep towards his neck inch by inch as Lucian slowly turn his head staring at the man who had a sinister expression on his face. It was a deep kind of urge. An urge of survival which has turned to madness and became bloodthirsty.
Lucian took his gaze away from the man's face as a tear drop rolled down his eyes.
"I'm sorry..."
The claw slashed at Lucian's neck with speed but the expected blood splash didn't happen.
The man stared at his chained hands expecting the fresh blood to be on it, but they were just dried blood from his previous kill.
His eyes widened in horror as he immediately turn back his head with speed but that decision will be the one he'll forever regret as he felt something clamp on his neck before blood erupted from his neck like a wave.
The man moved three step backwards, his hands clamped on his neck before his body slammed into the ground, dead.
Lucian stood there staring at the man who had an horror expression in his face even in death.
His eyes were frigging cold and emotionless with not a single remorse on his face.
"Now I understand..." Lucian said as he spat out the neck tissue in his mouth blood running down the edges of his lips.
"This world is a race against survival. Hesitation to kill will only result in being killed and everything you have taking away. It's like trying not to survive. If I want to survive, then I have to be ready to kill. I have to let go of my fears and face them squarely.
If I want to achieve my dreams in this world, them I have to become ruthless, even if it means to be a killer. What matters is not to forget why I'm on this path."
Suddenly mystic white energy floated out of the man's corpse and entered into Lucian's body as he felt his strength suddenly improve.
He felt as if his energy became suddenly replenished as the white energy entered into his body healing his injuries while strengthening his body albeit a little.
"Today, Instead of being hunted. I chose to become a hunter instead." Lucian said as he immediately closed in on the person closest to him.
Blood immediately splashed into the air as he also joined in this war.
The brutal battle for survival.
