Kurai slowly mops the floor of the restaurant. Kaneko walks in having just woke up. Rubbing his unkempt hair. Trying to keep it out of his eyes.
"Morning Kurai" Kurai avoids eye contact.
"Have a good rest, Kaneko?" Kaneko is slightly shocked.
"Y-yeah, I did…" Kurai nods and continues mopping.
"Good, we'll leave to go check on Mom when we finish cleaning this place. Start picking some stuff up…" Kaneko looks around the messed up shop.
"…Sure, Mind making us some breakfast?" Kaneko grabs some salt from the floor
"It's on the counter…" Kaneko stands up and looks over as a bowl of steaming food sits on the counter.
"Kurai, you actually…? What happened to hating me?" Kurai still mops the floor.
"You're my brother, of course I'll take care of you…" Kaneko raises an eyebrow.
"But still, this isn't like you-" Kurai stops mopping and draining the mop bucket into the sink.
"After last night I realized something, If Mom dies then we'll only have each other to survive. I don't wanna loose you too, Kaneko" Kaneko is slightly shocked.
"I- I-…" Kurai stands up and turning to look calmly at Kaneko. No emotion on his face.
"Are you done debating your Life or are you gonna eat your food? It's going cold…" Kaneko realizes.
"R-right!"
Kurai sits in the chair by the hospital bed.
"Sorry for not being there Mom…" She looks at him and smiles.
"You were there to find me, weren't you? That's enough for me…" Kurai shouts a bit with dry eyes.
"It's not for me! The fact that I was off doing something I don't enjoy when I could have been home helping you!" She rubs Kurai's shoulder from the bed.
"Kurai, You know that's not what would happen. Those guys stormed in on me and shot me before I even realized, You being there wouldn't have done anything…" Kurai's eyes widen as he looks at his Mom.
"So, I-I'm useless…?" Kaneko is shocked.
"What no-" Kaneko's interrupted when their Mom starts violently puking into a bowl given by the doctors. Kaneko confused.
"Mom? Why the puking? You were shot with a bullet, right?" She looks away saddened.
"There's more to it than just that, but you aren't ready for that yet…" Kurai holds his Mom arm.
"You can tell us Mom, We won't judge…" There was silence as the door opens. The doctor walking in.
"Good morning Vlast' Family" They all say their hello's as the doctor looks at a clipboard.
"Well, the results from our tests have returned, and we were successfully able to extract the bullet, so all you need now is physical therapy to learn how to walk again, as well as one other thing…" Kurai looks up at the doctor.
"The morning sickness and stomach pain IS unrelated to the Bullet injury, because you are expecting Mrs. Vlast', Congratulations, It's a girl!" There was an awkward silence as Kurai's hair shades his eyes out of view. Kaneko looking over.
"Mom? Have something you wanna tell us?" The Doctor realizes and nods.
"I'll take my leave for some privacy…" The doctor leaves the room. Kurai looking at his Mom.
"Dad died way too long ago for you to NOW be expecting, Who did you do it with Mom?" There was another silence as Kurai gets a text. She looks up at the ceiling.
"You were always too smart, Kurai-" Kaneko lays his hand on the side of the bed.
"Was it with the investor?" There was a silence as She looks away from them. Kurai sighing.
"That's all I need to know, I'm gonna stand outside for a minute…" Kurai walks out. Kaneko looks at their Mom then turns around.
"Kurai! Wait!" Kaneko rushes out after him.
