"Excuse me? Did I hear you correctly?" Adrienne leaned forward, her voice filled with disbelief. She needed to double-check the doctor's last statement, convinced that she must have misheard.
The doctor moved closer to her, his gaze shifting from Adrienne's eyes to the floor.
"Yes, ma'am. I confirmed that you are indeed pregnant. Congratulations," he mumbled, stumbling over his words.
A surge of denial flooded through Adrienne, causing her brows to furrow.
"There must be some mistake. Your report cannot be accurate. How long was I unconscious?" She pressed, hoping for a glimmer of reassurance.
