Chapter 2 - Kraken attacks

CRASH!

A clattering cacophony continued a cascading cavalcade of crashing hull. The pressured tungstinium hull was being torn like tissue paper. As blaring klaxons were flashing blinding lights across the command center.

"Please enter the cryo-pod escape module with you assigned miliary ID" a digital voice repeated over hectic scene between the alarms. 'I mean I would do that but that would have me I go for a dive into the vacuum of space and I personally would not like to test my chances'. He looked over a vast hole that once kept the ship contained, was now replaced with the vacuum of space. It tossed parts and shards of tungstinium passed. They whizzed near his head. He was lucky to have been near the Exosuit Emergency Nano deploy box, he hadn't smashed it intentionally at the sight of trouble, but his now bloody hand was pin-cushioned with the breakaway glass, he would have been sucked into space like rest of the ship. The nano-exosuit had magnetized his feet to the floor, while also forming around him beginning to excise the glass as they were ejected and sucked into space. He might have been thinking sharply but he was in a state of autopilot shock. When the space ship sized yellow eye appeared in front of him he had quickly responded, trusting his gut. The looming yellow had enshrouded a room, peering in like a child in a doll house. not many people would respond fast enough, and not many did. Tentacles, suction cups, and cruise ship sized crustation pinchers were the last thing many of his crew mates, and fellow perspective classmates had seen.

"What a way to start school." He said to himself as he began to run in the opposite direction of the Ships AI was indicating. him to go towards to enter the cryopods. 'I think that the good pod would have been closer to where the high-ranking officers would be. Maybe that means entering back near that Kraken-Horror, but it might be worth the gamble.' He had made the right choice, in this case and his gut had led him wrong.

As he ran deeper into the command center, he made his way deeper toward the captain's command post. They had showed all the student his ostentatious office in hopes that after their mandatory service that would choose to become professional soldiers. He was not concerned with the metals and horror-beast trophies right now though. It was the large Galvinized-Tungstinum cryopod that he had seen in the room that would allow for the captain to eject himself once everyone was off the ship. His hope is that it would be specially outfitted with extra-jetfuel and maybe more food, a higher-powered captain in the Imperium, would have been much more valuable than any space cadet, that hadn't even made it to their real first day. Once again, he was right. Strapping himself into the pod it closed on him and the Ships AI responded.

"Hello CADET 4073 you are not authorized for use of this pod"

"Override authorization"

"Under what code or power CADET 4073"

"Under that the power that the rest of the ship is dead and in the stomach of a Kraken-horror and thus I would be the highest-ranking officer as everyone else is gone"

"Processing…. Processing… Proces—Authorization Granted. Captain Dante D. Grey. Initiating Launch." Dante felt a pinprick in in arm as a cooling liquid began to course through his veins. It spread from the needle. He saw frost cross over the glass as he was suddenly in a free fall. He was sober as he looked out over the scene now from a different vantage point. The Crustation shelled, tentacle covered Kraken-horror was still on the ship it was gnawing on a cryopod like a popsicle. A thin red liquid bursting from the cryopod.

"Im going to kill you Kraken-horror" Dante barked

"Captain Dante would you like to initiate self-destruction prior to take off."

"Authorization granted" Dante said before looking down towards the small holographic control panel. On it were little dots of different colors.

"Self-destruction prepared, a waiting command"

"How do I escape the horror-beast computer." Dante said not expecting a response.

"Probability of escape is 12.4%, with current cosmic maps of habitable plants in range, that can sustain life. Probability of running out of fuel before landing 98.3%. Probability of escaping kraken-horror is -"

"That's enough computer. Is there no habitable planet near at all?"

"There a wandering terrestrial planet, Nicknamed Aphrodite nearby that sustains life. It is about a parsec away." Dante was a shocked at this revelation. 'if it's that far away I should be able to see it…' he turned the trusting around on the pod allowing him to turn around till his entire visual field was filled with hope.' This is perfect!' Dante looked at a ginormous planet with an impenetrable atmosphere, or swirling blues and greens. Looking at it reminded him of the ancient plant of Venus that was the first ever colonized by human before the war.

"Computer what is the survivability of landing here." Dante wondered

"Probability is 1.7 % adjusted for ration for the first week, if you never leave the pod and encounter nothing"

"What's the probability after that."

"Such information would not be valuable for a Space Captain in distress. It is recommended to initiate hyperdrive and -

" Computer override mental health measures. Computer tell me why Aphrodite is unsafe"

"Authorized. Aphrodite is a terrestrial-horror-planet that wanders around the entire milky way galaxy. It has been known to consume another planet that then disappear into its atmosphere. The expedition on the planet lead to flourishing for the first week, then followed by the expedition team being consumed by the horror-beasts that dot the alien-landscape."

"Authorization for landing on Aphrodite"

"Suicide Mission Granted. Distress beacon starting." It almost sounded as though the computer was exasperated. 'I think that I am starting to understand the mental-health filter. This computer kind of sucks.' Behind Dante the starship exploded as his vison fell to black Dante was placing his faith in his gut.
