Chapter 2 - Rising Above Stereotypes: Julian Kartner's School Story

Starting with the words 'Hello, everyone' might not be the best approach, as I'm not part of the Trendy group. My name is Julian Kartner, and I belong to the last group - the Outcasts. In case you're not familiar, that's the one where I become the target of mockery and ridicule. Why? Because I come from a so-called 'poor' family, which supposedly can barely make ends meet. But let me assure you, that's not entirely true! While my family may not be extravagantly rich like others at this school, we are not so destitute that we wear tattered clothes. The problem lies in the stark contrast between the super-rich kids here and the rest of us. If you don't have as much money as they do or can't spend lavishly on trivial things, you're automatically labeled 'poor.'

My mom, Laura Kartner, is a young and beautiful woman. Becoming a successful businessman has been my dream since childhood, fueled by the absence of my father. A twist of fate led my mom to meet the director of this school, OWL, who was struggling to find a gift for his daughter. She gladly baked a fantastic cake for her, and in return, the director granted my wish. That's how this extraordinary story unfolded. Sadly, my mom is currently in the hospital, undergoing treatment. Her health has been concerning lately, and for now, my sister, Daya Kartner, and I are left to fend for ourselves. By the way, I have a younger sister, Daya, who attends a regular school, as business doesn't interest her. We both work extra to support our household, pay the bills, and cover our mom's medical expenses. Taking responsibility has been ingrained in me since childhood, and I don't take it lightly.

Now, let's delve into the business school itself. It may seem appealing at first, like a beautifully wrapped candy, but what lies inside may not be as sweet as expected. When I first entered, I became an Outcast, facing constant taunts and schemes from my classmates who seemed determined to drive me out. It's unfortunate that I can't afford expensive school uniforms like them, as they 'accidentally' tear them apart. And don't get me started on the 'joy' of having to repair my glasses - yes, I have some vision problems. Not everyone wears uniforms in this school, by the way. Here, students can dress as they please, as long as they wear the school tie. It's all about branded, expensive items, something I can't keep up with.

Moving on to my class, it's well-equipped with four boards, a TV, and a projector. Additionally, there's a white conditioner, a water or coffee machine on the side table, and various decorations and items in the cabinet. We also work with laptops frequently, but the cabinet is locked, and only the teacher has the key. My class is situated on the third floor, and I prefer sitting near the window, finding it the most comforting spot.

As for the school itself, it boasts numerous classrooms, an announcement hall, a theater, a spacious sports hall, and a cafeteria that I avoid like the plague. The cafeteria is where the harshest taunts and fights usually begin, and you might just end up with a face full of soup. It's delicious, but not worth the risk. On the brighter side, there's also a library and a lounge for relaxation. At the back yard, you'll find the school's parking lot and a football field, not far from a wonderful park and Ms. Aminyan's café.

As for myself, I'm not as unlikable as they say. Sure, girls from the parallel class might follow me around, trying to take photos or something else, but I mostly find solace in the library, surrounded by books. My purpose of coming to this school is to study and achieve my goals, so I won't let trivialities lead me astray."
