Chapter 4 - School Gossip: The Mafia and Its Intricate Web

"It's not for us to decide," the brunette huffed and rolled her eyes. Perhaps she didn't take everything seriously. She had nearly transparent, blue eyes and long, straight, chocolate-brown hair. Also, thick eyelashes, puffy lips, and thin eyebrows.

"Hey, nerd!" Luke snapped at me. "Do you know what will happen if the mafia comes?"

-"Oh God, anything but that," I silently pleaded. - "Why are you picking on me?"

"If it's a handsome guy, he will definitely be mine," Karen said, covering her face with her hands. It seemed like she was always thinking about boys. Her favorite color was pink. Any shade: dark pink, light pink, pink-pink. And now she was dressed in a dark pink suit with a school tie. Lisa wanted to argue, but Charlie stopped her.

"I hate to disappoint you, but it's a girl."

Everyone started looking at each other and shouting things like "What the heck?" or "Another girl?" and so on. They were expecting a boy, as I understood.

"As far as I know, mafias usually choose boys for the boss position. It's a big patriarchy there," I began to recall. This really surprised her. She was probably facing a lot of pressure from others.

"A girl? Seriously? How is that possible?" Luke cringed and added. "I can't stand another dumb and helpless girl in the class."

All the girls gave Foris an ominous look, and he backed off.

"Alright, alright, I take my words back."

"I wouldn't say that if I were you," the blond guy shook his head and started reading lines from an article. ... tra-ta-ta... it's not interesting... o-о

Everyone started glancing at each other. This news shocked them. Apparently, they had only seen male bosses in the movies.

"If I'm not mistaken, 'Red Bar' is a wine company," one of the boys said.

"Hah, someone from the mafia didn't like the wine, so they got rid of him." Foris laughed, and the class burst into laughter.

"Yes, it might happen to you," Charlie hissed ominously, annoyed by the noise and commotion. "She might not like your cologne, and you'll be a corpse!"

"But why isn't the police opposing this?" Karen exclaimed.

"Because it suits them," the blond boy replied. "They like it that way. Isn't it great that thieves are killing other scoundrels?"

"So, does that mean a good mafia?" Luke raised an eyebrow.

"I think those corporations were heavily involved with the Junior Mafia. That's why they got targeted," the boy concluded. - "We'll see how the situation unfolds."

"Hey, Karner! Do you think the mafiosa will fancy your mother and your silly little sister as victims?" Foris taunted me.
