Chapter 7: Gateway Gambles
Standing before the massive portal, Luna began examining the inscriptions, her fingers brushing over the ancient script. "It says that the portal is powered by true desires. But... there seems to be a warning. Only those with pure intentions can harness its power without consequence."
Hiroto quirked an eyebrow, "So, like, no wishing for endless ramen bowls or a mountain of video games?"
Luna chuckled, "I'd advise against it."
Riku piped up, looking hopeful, "But... maybe a tiny wish for unlimited moss pudding?"
Before Luna could answer, a shimmering mist enveloped the chamber. Out of it emerged ethereal figures, guardians of the gateway, their voices echoing in unison. "Who seeks passage between realms?"
Hiroto, always one to try humor in tense situations, saluted, "Hey there, I'm Hiroto, ex-human, now the coolest goblin you'll ever meet. And these are my pals, Luna the Knowledgeable and Riku the... moss pudding lover?"
Riku nodded seriously, "It's a title I wear with pride."
The guardians seemed momentarily taken aback. "Your humor is... unexpected. Yet, we sense the purity of your intentions."
Luna, ever the diplomat, stepped forward, "We seek understanding, and a means to bridge our worlds. Can you help?"
One guardian floated closer, "You have faced the challenges of the labyrinth and proven your worth. But beware, for the portal's power is immense. Misuse it, and the consequences could be dire."
Riku scratched his head, "So... no moss pudding?"
Hiroto laughed, "Buddy, we'll find you the best moss pudding in any realm."
As they prepared to harness the portal's energy, Hiroto felt a tug in his heart. Valerion had gifted him friendships and adventures beyond his wildest dreams. While the allure of Tokyo still beckoned, he wondered if he was truly ready to leave this magical world behind.
Luna noticed his contemplation, "It's a big decision, Hiroto. But remember, it's not just about where we are, but who we're with."
Riku grinned, "And I promise, wherever we go, we'll find that moss pudding."
The trio shared a hearty laugh, ready to face whatever the portal had in store.
