"Which would you like sir? There are plenty to choose from, all of best quality", the pet asked politely, smiling widely as he led a vampire into the dark room. The store had opened an hour ago and customers have been coming in and out, a good number of pets being bought off in a short period of time. Because of this, the pet master is in a particularly good mood, seeing as he has made a reasonable amount of profit, more than he usually does. And the fact that there was an important occasion the previous day makes it even better. Various vampire elites from different countries were invited, as well some high standing figures, though he's not sure any royals attended. It seems most of them are returning to their respective countries today, for majority of his customers today fell into that category.
The vampire he led in wore a slightly bored expression on his face as his gaze swept past all the cages in the room. All the humans held their breaths in anticipation as they already begun to wonder who will be the next to be sold that day. His light green eyes lazily scanned the cages until it landed on something in the corner. He narrowed his eyes slightly and stared at it for a while before shrugging and turning to look at the pet master. The human in it, who was curled up at the back of the cage, threw her head back to rest on the bars. 'Good, he didn't see me', she thought to herself. She wasn't sure why she hid, be it intentionally or subconsciously, but she was still glad regardless.
The vampire ran a tired hand through his dirty blonde hair and let out an exhausted sigh. He then glanced at his watch, his eyes widening slightly. 'Shoot! I'm going to be late', he thought as his gaze shifted to the next cage where a trembling human sat, her blood stained pure blonde hair covering her paled face. She cowered backwards in her cage upon meeting his gaze, causing him to smirk slightly. "I'll take her", he said as he pointed towards her and turned to look at the pet master, who obliged happily. "Of course sir. I'll prepare her and her information as well", he chimed and immediately stepped forward to open her cage. The human whimpered loudly and her trembling body cowered in fear. The pet master scowled at this and forcefully dragged her out by her hair, making her shriek in pain. Her new owner just turned around and headed to the front of the shop, completely ignoring the scene.
A few minutes later, the pet master stepped back into the room after the customer left and let out a hearty laugh that resounded in the dark room. "Haa, business is booming! My stars are truly lucky today". He then walked over to the cage in the dark corner and crouched down to stare at the human in the cage. "Truly lucky", he said to her, a sly smirk playing at his lips. The human shivered in fear, already realizing what he meant by that.
Before the pet master could say or do anything else, the sound of the door opening was heard. 'A new customer!', he thought and immediately stepped out to attend to him, closing the door behind him as he did. Not too long after, the door to the room was opened and in stepped the pet master leading new a customer. The moment he stepped into the room, shivers down all the humans' spines. The aura he emanated was so intense, you would be a fool not to notice it. Even the pet master seemed to be on egde. All the pets couldn't help but pity the unfortunate soul who will end up being bought by him.
The human in the dark corner stared at him with a blank expression, but her brown hazel eyes held a mixture of fear and curiosity. Her eyes trailed after him subconciously as he studied all the cages in the room. Then, the thought that he won't even notice her considering her position popped into her head and she let out a quiet sigh of relief. From his aura alone, she could tell he wasn't someone you would want to mess with. She could only imagine how he would treat his pets. For the first time, she was slightly grateful for her current position, only slightly though.
The customer's cool gaze looked around in the dark room, an unreadable expression on his face. His heavy steps echoed in the room as he scrutinized each and every cage. Suddenly, he stopped walking and turned to the dark corner. His eyes narrowed slightly and he stepped closer to it. The human could hear his steps getting closer and she felt her heart skip a beat in both anticipation and fear. The pet master, however, was already panicking. "E-Excuse me sir-", he tried to say but there was no point.
When the human looked up in her cage, her eyes immediately met with deep emerald ones. At that moment, she felt like she was frozen. Those pair eyes, as cold and emotionless as they are, were practically staring into her soul. She wanted to look away but she just couldn't. Just then, realization dawned on her. 'H-he saw me!!'. Her eyes then widened in shock and she flinched back into her cage. She held her trembling self and diverted her gaze to the floor of the cage, but even at that she could still feel his intense gaze on her. His eyes trailed over her scar filled body without a word, his eyes giving away nothing at all.
All the pets were shocked. No one had ever expected that she would be seen. Every customer that had entered the store had never bothered to acknowledge the dark corner. So to think that he didn't even think twice before going over to check it out had everyone in shock, including the pet master himself. Shock soon turned to sympathy and slight relief seeing as he had taken an interest in her.
Her heart was pounding so loudly in her chest she was sure they could hear it. She lowered her head even more when she felt his cool eyes bore holes into her head. "M-my Lord, I have a variety of fine products for you to choose from...". "No need". He said coolly, his gaze never leaving the slightly trembling human in the cage. The pet master eyed the human for a brief moment then laughed nervously. "Pardon me, my Lord, but-", he began but was immediately silenced when the vampires icy glare landed on him, making him freeze in fear. "I have already made my choice". Hearing this, the human looked up at him in panic, only to realise he was already staring back at her. "Please not me. Please, please. Let it not be me", she hoped silently. But her world came crashing down when she suddenly heard him say the words she never wanted to hear, "I want her".
