A beam of light crashed onto Earth. When the beam dissipated, four warriors appeared. Beneath their feet, a circular pattern formed by the impact.
The four warriors, three men and one woman, came to look for Thor: Sif, Volstagg, Hogun, and Fandral.
Because their clothes were so strange to the people of Earth, the residents thought they were actors filming a movie. As they walked through the small town, residents greeted them and asked what movie they were making.
The four warriors felt embarrassed. They thought the mortals were weird and lacked reverence for gods, but since the townspeople were friendly, they didn't know how to respond and just kept smiling.
They searched the town, and soon, Sif found a trace of Thor. She greeted the others, and the four rushed over, pressed against a glass window, and shouted, "Hey, Thor!"
This sudden shout surprised Jane and her companions. Anyone seeing four people dressed in strange clothes and holding weapons would be scared.
Thor was overjoyed, "My friends, it's great to see you!"
They hugged each other quickly, their faces full of excitement.
Thor and the four warriors had endless things to say as they reunited, ignoring Jane and her friends, who felt awkward. Eventually, they invited them into the restaurant.
Thor soon learned from the warriors that Odin was alive and that everything was Loki's lie. This made him very sad. He didn't understand why his brother had become like this. He immediately wanted to return to Asgard to confront Loki.
At that moment, everyone suddenly felt a gloom covering the sky. They looked up and saw the sun obscured by rolling dark clouds. A swirling storm formed and fell outside the town, followed by a huge roar. The Destroyer had arrived.
It was Asgard's strongest weapon, the Destroyer. Coulson, who had been leading a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents following Thor, was shocked. He quickly reported the situation to his superior and ordered his team to try to contact the aliens and understand the problem.
One agent boldly said, "Hello, alien, welcome to Earth. Do you need any help?"
The Destroyer looked like a piece of metal forcibly twisted together. It had an ugly appearance with only two holes for eyes, lacking in beauty, but it maintained a humanoid structure. Coulson and the agents thought someone was inside the Destroyer and wanted to communicate.
They didn't know that the Destroyer was empty inside and remotely controlled by Loki. To Loki, earthlings were like ants, so he ignored them and controlled the Destroyer to go to the town.
Coulson and the others instinctively determined that the other party was hostile. All the agents fired simultaneously, but the bullets only made a series of impact sounds, causing no damage to the Destroyer.
The agents' actions angered Loki. He had planned to let the mortals go, but since they dared to attack, they would face the wrath of a god.
The full-coverage mask on the Destroyer's head slowly opened, releasing a golden energy beam. Wherever the golden light swept, everything was blown to pieces. The shockwave also blew away Coulson and the others. People were thrown about, screaming, and several unlucky agents died on the spot. Coulson was lucky; he fell on soft sand and only suffered minor injuries. He endured the pain and called for backup from his superior.
The Destroyer continued to move forward and soon found Thor and his group. The four warriors quickly exited the fast food restaurant to confront the Destroyer. They knew Thor had lost his strength and had to do their best to protect him.
The Destroyer's footsteps were heavy, incinerating everything in its path with the golden light beam from its head. The ground trembled under its weight, and its tall, burly frame exuded a suffocating aura that terrified the townspeople, causing them to flee in panic.
Among the four warriors, Hogun stayed behind to protect Thor. Volstagg and Fandral roared, wielding a giant axe and a large sword, and rushed at the Destroyer with all their might. Unfortunately, they were quickly defeated. The Destroyer swatted Volstagg and Fandral away like flies. Volstagg crashed into a car, flattening it, while Fandral smashed into a restaurant, which collapsed on top of him. Watching this from a distance, Ivan felt their pain.
Although Volstagg and Fandral were quickly defeated, their efforts weren't in vain. Sif jumped high and attacked the Destroyer from behind, piercing its body with her spear and nailing it to the ground.
Unfortunately, Sif's victory was short-lived. The Destroyer emitted a screech, its metal body twisted, and its chest, back, and head rotated 180 degrees. The mask on its head opened, releasing a golden beam at Sif, who was thrown aside like her companions. Hogun reluctantly joined the battle.
Thor watched as the Destroyer wreaked havoc, and his friends fell into danger. Feeling helpless and guilty, he finally couldn't hold back and approached the Destroyer without any defenses.
"No!" Jane cried out desperately and rushed to stop Thor. She had fallen in love with him during their time together, and seeing him in danger, she wanted to help. But before she could reach him, a hand pulled her back. It was Ivan, whom she had seen before.
"Dr. Ivan, please save him! You are a sage they respect; you must have a way!" Jane pleaded, seeing Ivan as her last hope.
"What can I do? This is their family matter. They need to settle it themselves. I don't want to get involved," Ivan replied.
Jane angrily broke free from Ivan's grasp. "Then let me go! Even if I die, I want to be with him."
Ivan shook his head, grabbing Jane's wrist again. "That's not a good idea. Thor may not die. After all, they are brothers, and there's some familial affection. But if you go, you could be killed. What if Thor turns to the dark side?"
"Why would that happen? Could that big guy kill people at will?" Jane asked, her voice trembling.
Ivan sighed, "Thor's brother controls that big guy. Although Thor has lost his power now, he is still a god. In his brother's eyes, they are equals, but what about you? Asgard is still like a feudal society, without equality and freedom as we know it. The people of Earth are just higher-status slaves in their eyes, like ants. Do you think he'll care about stepping on a few ants?"
Jane was stunned for a moment, then shook her head vigorously. "It can't be like that. Thor isn't like that. I've been with him long enough to know he's not what you describe."
"That's your illusion," Ivan replied. "When you met Thor, his divine power was sealed. He was stronger than an ordinary person, but even then, the arrogance of the gods was evident. Consider what Thor said when you first met: 'I am a god,' 'I am the son of Odin,' 'You mortals,' 'You dare to hurt a god.' That kind of tone. And when his companions arrived, they hardly spoke to you because you're just mortals in their eyes."
Jane thought carefully and realized it was true. Thor had used that kind of condescending tone when they first met. After the four warriors arrived, they focused solely on Thor, hardly acknowledging Jane and her friends.
Ivan intended to prepare Jane mentally. Even though she fell in love with Thor, they eventually broke up due to conflicting beliefs. Ivan hoped to inform her early so they might tolerate each other more and avoid a future fallout.
While Ivan and Jane talked, Thor finally approached the Destroyer. "Dear brother, no matter what I did to hurt you, please consider..."
Thor gave an emotional speech. Loki seemed moved; the Destroyer stopped attacking, turned around, and walked a few steps as if leaving. Thor felt relieved, believing Loki still had brotherly affection for him. But his relief was short-lived. The Destroyer suddenly turned back, shot a golden beam, and hit Thor in the face.
The 1.9-meter-tall Thor fell like a rag doll, his chest charred and his flesh exposed. It seemed he couldn't survive. Jane broke free from Ivan's grasp and rushed to Thor, crying.
However, Ivan remained calm. He sensed his life force was still strong despite Thor's severe injuries. Thor survived, whether it was his innate resilience or Loki's not using the Destroyer's full strength. His willingness to sacrifice himself finally triggered the hammer's enchantment.
Fifty kilometers away, Thor's Hammer had a reaction, soared into the sky, and flew to Thor's side in an instant. Thor slowly stood up, grasping the Warhammer. He raised his head, and a powerful aura radiated from him, making everyone shiver. Thor, the god of thunder, was reborn.
Everyone was stunned by Thor's transformation except Ivan, who sighed, "What a pity! Odin expelled Thor, seizing his power to temper his character and letting him grow. He probably hoped Thor would fully unlock his thunder powers during this test. But Thor relies too much on his hammer. He missed such a good opportunity."
The lightning dissipated, and a war god in silver armor with a red cloak appeared. This was Thor at his most majestic. His power surged, and he destroyed the Destroyer with a mighty lightning strike.
