They reached Roseway within fifteen days. So, they finished the construction five days earlier than they had planned. In the last two days, they dug up to the dried-up lake. In a way, the early completion of the construction was due to the forced labor of the bandits that Amy had caught.
Amy and Mimi were training pretty far away from the construction area before someone came and informed them that the construction was finished. These two weeks had been really good for Mimi. Staying in her secondar form for a long time had improved her abilities more. Moreover, she was training with her master. Besides, she had never spent so much time with her master. Although they were living in the same house, Amy sometimes did not go home for days.
Mimi was looking a bit feline-like when she finished her secondar form. Hair was growing on her arms and legs, her nails were growing fast, and she had a ten to fifteen cm tail. This transformation gave Mimi speed, agility, and strength. She could smash a boulder with one hand. There was no one else like her in the organization with such a big difference in power between before and after the secondar transformation.
Mimi took an attacking position. Bending her legs, a little, she leaped like an arc on Amy as she folded her hands. Amy dodged the move, stepping back a few inches. Mimi kicked her this time.
Amy defended herself from the kick with her arm, but the force of the kick slipped her feet several inches into the ground. If she had not wrapped her arm with tree bark, her arm would have been broken already.
Mimi was getting ready for her second kick with her other foot, this time while using her other foot as a coil spring, Amy caught her by the other leg and threw Mimi a few meters. Mimi, who had fallen to the ground after her master's attacks in the early days of their training, could now keep up with her. Therefore, without falling to the ground, she took support with her hands, tumbled down over, and managed to stay standing.
Being in a completely arid place, Mimi had a slight advantage. There were no plant species and water that her master could control. Maybe if her master forced herself, she could grow a tree out of nowhere to control but that would be a waste of time. Although it took time, growing a plant in arid land using the water deep in the soil was an amazing skill. So, Mimi had to be careful, considering her master's abilities to control earth and sense the energy right now. That was bothering Mimi a lot.
"Hey! What are you thinking? You have slowed down!" Amy called to her. Mimi snapped out of her thoughts and apologized to her master, preparing for her attack.
She started attacking her master with a fist. She kicked Amy back, throwing one punch after another. She knew that if she became faster, her master would have to create boulders to defend herself. Her fists were weak but swift, she had a plan.
Noticing the weakness of the fists, Amy grumbled as she was dodging attacks "Look at my little apprentice! Is she afraid of hurting me?"
Mimi did not fall for Amy's provocation. Besides, weak fists gave Mimi even more speed. Mimi finally succeeded, as Amy was a little distracted by talking. She accelerated a little faster and prepared for the final blow with her last punch. Meanwhile, her master did what Mimi expected. Suddenly, a two meters tall boulder rose from the ground between the two of them.
Since Mimi's fist was weak, it did not do much damage to the rock. Glad that she had not destroyed the rock, Mimi was swept away by a sudden kick from behind and below before she could feel the joy of her success. This time she fell to the ground.
She got up immediately and jumped into the air, using her legs as a coil spring, and turning a few laps, she landed her accelerated kick on her master. Amy jumped back a few meters to avoid the kick. Mimi's kick opened a huge hole in the floor.
The kick did not work, but Mimi had achieved her goal. Her master had moved away from the rock. Mimi kicked the rock hard without letting her master figure it out. The two-meter boulder flew into Amy's face like it was a soccer ball.
Before Amy could think about what her next move might be, she controlled the boulder and crushed it but the dust that spread around blocked Amy's view. It did not matter to her, but the dust she swallowed made her cough. That was why she noticed the kick from her left side only at the last minute. She stopped the kick again by wrapping her arm with tree bark, but when she could not resist the force, she fell to the ground.
Mimi was about to take this opportunity to kick the ground with her right leg but when she felt a hand on her left wrist, and it was too late. She also fell to the ground. When the dust cloud cleared, Amy sat down. Mimi was too tired that she could not even sit down.
Amy turned to her and said, "You did well this time. Well done!" Glad to hear that it was well, Mimi smiled. Her master smiled at her too. Mimi could not help but be surprised. She rarely saw her smile. Amy usually just yelled and got grumpy. Generally, she was so tensed up because of her insomnia and often complained of headaches.
Mimi suddenly remembered what she had seen the night before. In fact, she has been thinking about it ever since. Mimi was sure of what she saw. What connection was there between the Lord of the West and her master's sleep, she could not find out.
While the two of them were resting, one of the workers came and informed them that the construction was over. Amy took the leather jacket that she took off earlier because of the open and shadeless area they were training on. When Mimi got up, they went to the campsite.
At first, Amy thought that the reason why they ended the construction earlier was because of the worker who could control the earth. But she realized that other workers also had the physical ability to do this job in a short time.
Noticing their arrival, Karen turned towards them. He turned, but the sight was not very pleasant to him. They were both covered in dust. As Mimi walked away, Karen approached Amy and asked, "Did you help with the construction?"
Amy sensed the sarcasm in the question and said, "How do you think it ended so soon?" "We need to get some water for you two to wash with," Karen said as she leaned in closer and pretended to smell her.
Amy replied to this joke, "Does the rich boy detest soldiers?" Then, in a quieter tone, she said, "If we had found the water, we would have washed earlier. Don't make fun of soldiers who can adapt to any situation." she muttered.
Karen realized that the jokes he can do to Jame and his other friends might offend Amy easily. He said, "You don't even understand a joke!'"
While he was torn between apologizing or not, the head worker interrupted his thoughts to announce that the people were gathering for further instructions. All that remained work was releasing the water and controlling it against flooding.
First, Karen considered sending a few workers who could easily dig the soil near the water source. So, he would return to town to check if the water was overflowing from the canal or not.
While he was explaining these and a few technical issues about water control, he was going to turn to Amy and ask when she would take the bandits back, but he could not find her right next to him. A little further, he saw the bandits begging Amy to be released.
When he realized that neither Amy nor the thugs were not listening to him, he got angry and turned to them "We're talking about something here!" he said. Amy set them free as she promised. Mimi, just behind Amy, sighed and rubbed her head.
"Are you sure?" Karen asked her. Amy turned to him and said, "I know what I'm doing." The men had already left like they were fleeing away.
Amy was startled like something came to her mind and said, "I listened to your plan about releasing water. You do not need to send workers there. If you can give us a motorbike, we can go there and do it ourselves. So, you can have more workers to help you with if it overflows in more than one place."
Karen thought for a moment. The idea made sense to him. Meanwhile, Amy turned to the workers and townspeople, said, "I can open the canal by myself without any problem. I want to thank you for hosting us here."
When Karen accepted the offer, they gave Amy a motorcycle. Amy got on the bike without waiting. She called out to Mimi, and she immediately settled behind her.
Amy turned to Karen and said, "We won't be back as soon as we open the canal. You know, there's water there." Without waiting for an answer from Karen, she stepped on the gas. Feeling Amy's words like an arrow slapping his back, Karen said behind her, "You're pretty touchy for a soldier."
After a while, Amy and Mimi arrived at the starting place of the construction. Although there was quite a distance between the river and the start of the canal, water was starting to leak from there. It seemed easier to Amy as the soil had already softened.
Amy planned to remove the soil between the river and the canal. She stood over the soil that she was about to remove and warned Mimi to stay away. Amy raised her arms in the direction of the canal. From where she was, it was looking like her arms were on the edge of the canal. She closed her eyes to concentrate. She quickly lowered her arms and slit the ground from the sides of the dug canal. She folded her hands and as she was raising her arms the soil from the slitted ground also levitated.
Amy crouched down and touched the ground for a stronger effect. While she was touching the ground, the soil levitated more and more and immediately scattered on both sides of the canal. Amy threw herself out of the canal to the side. Water entered the canal.
The edged of the canal was raised, as the earth scattered onto both sides of the canal. Amy checked the canal one last time to see if there was a problem. Then she turned to Mimi and offered to take a bath further down in shallow water where the flow of the river decreased.
"The air is good for them to dry quickly," Amy thought as she was watching their clothes while drying from where she leaned back. Meanwhile, they swam in the water for a while. The flora around the river was not as it should be, it was very sparse. Amy did not like rivers like that.
When she was convinced that her clothes were dry, she stopped swimming and sat down, leaning on a piece of stone in the water. "Mimi, if you've rested and washed up, start doing what I told you." said Amy.
Mimi wanted to get out of the water immediately and put on her drying clothes, but she turned to her master timidly. Her master smiled, "Don't worry, there's nobody around." she said. Mimi got out of the water and dressed as her master confirmed it with her secondar ability.
"What are you going to do, Master?" she asked. Amy thought for a while and said, "I'll hand over the motorbike and go home. Let me know when you're done and come home immediately." Mimi said, "Okay." And she transformed into her secondar ability then left quickly.
