Chapter 15 - Our Last Day, So Let's Agree!

Amy stayed in the water for a while after Mimi left. She thought about how good these two weeks had been for Mimi. The biggest reason she was able to concentrate on Mimi so much was because she was able to sleep during that time.

She remembered that she had woken up in Karen's bed on the first morning of the mission. Again, she tried to overcome the embarrassment of having been found at night and moved to Karen's bed. Karen did not want an explanation from her but said he could stay with her. She did not understand this man. He was so understanding, but what was the joke today? She was dirty because she had trained but not, she wanted to be.

After she suddenly sensed energy about five kilometers away, she quickly got out of the water and started getting dressed. "I forgot how fast this guy was moving." she muttered.

Karen checked the flow of the water, the height of the canal, and the water, then looked around. At first, he thought Amy was gone. He wanted to thank her and thought he was late. Then he saw the motorbike parked just ahead. Amy was coming towards him from the river. As Amy approached, he noticed that her hair was wet. His joke came to mind, and he felt embarrassed again.

"I thought you left without even say 'goodbye'." said Karen. As she was approaching, she said, "And I thought it wouldn't matter to you if I say goodbye." Then she said, "I thought you were coming here to check it out. But you're pretty early."

Karen realized that Amy did not know about his secondar ability. Suddenly he disappeared from Amy's eyes. He suddenly appeared right behind her. Amy did not understand what was happening. For a moment she could not feel him, and he appeared behind her. Then she figured it out. Karen could teleport within a certain distance. That was why she felt like he was speeding through that five-kilometer distance.

Amy stood still as she felt Karen right behind her. Karen grabbed a lock of Amy's hair and handed it down. "You have already finished washing. I'm already late." he said. Amy pretended to be annoyed at the joke and she elbowed him. She left just in front of Karen and sat on a fallen tree stump. Then she laughed and said, "You were pretty early, but I noticed it earlier. And if you are so enthusiastic about me, you would have let me stay with you all these days. That's when you would have done your naughty mischief."

Karen sat down on a nearby rock and leaned against it. He had no answer to give. They stayed silent for a while. Then Karen suddenly remembered and asked: "I still can't believe you let those bandits go." Amy replied, "As I said, a promise is a promise." Then, when Karen realized Mimi had not come, "Where's your apprentice?" he asked. "I send her to catch the bandits" Amy sighed and said.

When Karen looked at her in surprise and she said, "I promised to release them, but I did not say anything about catching them again. It's a good practice for Mimi, too." said. Karen laughed at that explanation. After a while, he said in a serious tone, "It wouldn't be nice if the organization found out about this." said Karen. Amy, again calmly, raised her hands and said, "There's nothing we can do. Useful indiscipline is better than useless order." Karen liked her words.

"If I talk about your indiscipline, which is beneficial to the organization..." he asked. "Are you going to rat?" Amy raised her eyebrows. Noticing Amy's slight panic, Karen said, "You have to block me." he replied. Amy "With what?" she asked. Karen "I don't know." he replied. Amy was taken aback by this answer. Karen wanted something but could not seem to find an excuse to say it. Amy asked directly. "You want something?" The answer was still the same but in a more thoughtful tone. "I do not know."

Amy thought for a moment. Then she stood up from the stump. "Listen what I say..." said. She thrust out her right hand to him. Karen saw the little dot-like things in her palm. Amy continued, "These are special seeds. If I plant them, they'll turn into tree saplings in two minutes." She threw one of the seeds into the soil. She moved her hand over it for a while.

Meanwhile, she said, "I decided to beat you with brute strength so that you wouldn't say anything bad about me to the organization. If I can beat you until this sapling is one meter tall, you will not fink on me. But if you beat me, tell me directly what you want from me."

Karen scratched her head. "Either way, you win. What will I get from this?" he asked. Amy "I wouldn't know until I take the words out of your mouth." she replied. Stood up and said, "We're getting started." She counted backward from three.

They came face to face. Realizing that Karen was not going to start, Amy suddenly threw a hard punch to show how she was serious. Karen had not thought that she was that serious. At the last moment, he grabbed Amy's wrist and turned her over. He unrolled her curled arm, turning Amy as if they were dancing, and let her go. Not expecting this form of counterattack, Amy backed off.

She thought for a while. She did not find the space between them enough and she stepped back a little more. Then she slammed her foot into the ground. A mound rose in front of her feet and swept away in the form of a fast-moving wave towards Karen. Since Karen did not know what this ability was like, he thought it would be better to retreat, and jumped back onto a boulder in the river.

The mound that came in the form of a wave came to Karen's previous location and exploded. There was a little dust cloud. Apparently, Amy wanted to avenge the prank that he made. Since the mound had exploded at Karen's previous location, he understood that it was calculated beforehand from his distance, and it was a good decision not to touch any mound that she would create. Now that he was above the water, protected from exploding bumps. He smiled involuntarily. But Amy was smiling too. Suddenly Karen realized his mistake. Amy could also control water.

Suddenly, the waters around Karen began to rise. Whip-shaped waters swirled around Karen for a while, and just as they were about to attack Karen, he glowed flames from his hands, evaporating all the whip-shaped water. Amy was familiar with this power from her general. Fortunately, abilities were transmitted according to Mendelian Law. She knew that Karen would continue to defend himself like that. But the steam was also a form of water. Amy first condensed all the vapor in the air. She threw it where Karen was in one swift movement, and then froze it.

Amy expected to see him frozen on a rock in the river, but she did not see anyone. Karen was standing on the opposite bank as he was leaning his hand on a large rock. His stance was kind of mocking. Amy started to get angry. That teleportation thing was a problem for her. Then she heard Karen's voice. "Looks like you won't be able to defeat me by controlling anything when you are that far away. The sapling is also about to grow... I won the bet."

His words made Amy even angrier. She came to the bank, touched the water, and concentrated; she did not have much time. Karen wondered what she was doing. It would be nice if he took a defensive position. But it was too late. The rock where he leaned his hand started to pull his arm as it was swallowing Karen's hand. That was impossible. There was no way for her to control that rock from this far away. Then he understood. She was controlling the water in the river, not the rock. Because the rock was next to the river, it was in contact with the water, and the water softened the rock.

Karen smiled for a moment. "Okay, I give up. You won." he said. The rock stopped swallowing him and the time was up too. Amy crossed the other bank walking on the surface of the water. She raised her hand and lowered it to the ground. Karen's arm in the rock also slowly descended. Amy wanted Karen to sit down on the rock that she lowered and shape. Karen sat down and Amy came and sat next to him.

"You won't fink on me since I won, right?" she asked. Karen replied, "Yeah. After all, a promise is a promise!" They both laughed at Karen's stolen line. Karen then pointed at his rock-covered arm and said, "Aren't you going to let go?" he asked. Amy said, "Stay like that! You're grounded for threatening me." Karen sighed, "Okay then. I'll handle it myself." he said, and in one move, he took his arm out by breaking the rock. With his free arm, he shielded Amy from little pieces of rock that were going everywhere. Amy was surprised, she said, "If you've been able to do that all along, it doesn't count as a win."

"You won because I gave up," Karen said, cleaning the dust off his arm. Amy asked him why he gave up. Karen was silent for a while but in the end, he said, "If I had won, I would have asked something. But I don't think you will answer." Amy replied, "You never know unless you try." Karen said, "I suppose you'll challenge me for that too." Amy said, "I was just getting ready for this." and they both laughed.

"I heard that you can't sleep because you can sense every living thing." said Karen. He observed Amy's reaction. It really did not seem like it was something she did not want to explain to him. "If that's true, how can I see you sleeping soundly?" He could not ask such a question. Amy "I didn't know you knew that." she muttered. Then she bowed her head. Karen turned around and said, "I don't want an explanation." Amy looked at him this time and asked, "So what do you want?"

Karen did not answer that question for a while. Then turning to her, "We can make a deal." he said. Amy eagerly awaited what he was about to say. Karen gathered his thoughts and his head and said, "You're pretty good at finding me. You can come and sleep with me whenever you want. But in return..." "In return?" Amy asked curiously.

Karen stayed silent for a while. It was clear that he was afraid of something. Amy suspected that Karen would ask her to do something bad. "Otherwise, why would a mighty Lord be so shy?" she thought. According to Karen's words, her response could have changed quite a bit. She prepared her fist. Karen, even more shyly, said, "SOU has a few books in the central library that are not available elsewhere. It is closed to civilians. Only soldiers can enter. My sister and fellow soldier friends always refused my requests. Since I am not a soldier either... I can make a list for you. Will you bring one of these books with me every time you come to me?"

Amy stared at Karen for a moment with her prepared fist behind her back. Due to Karen's energy intensity, she could not sense the changes in his energy. But it was enough to watch him happily talk about books that he could never read because the books were at SOU and have no copies elsewhere. Amy realized that moment. The Lord of the West was happy with only one thing.

What he did for Roseway and the surrounding villages was like his duty. It was not something that made him happy. It was his duty to have many orphanages or help people. He was not happy with these, but by losing himself in the books he read at every opportunity.

Amy tilted her head and smiled, unaware that she was showing a wry smile. Karen leaned over to her and said, "If it's not something you can accept, you can pretend you didn't hear it." Amy looked up at the man who could feed his soul only by entering other people's imaginations. "No, I accept." said Amy. "Really?" Karen said, trying to hide his joy. Then he immediately offered to turn to Roseway and make a list. Karen's schedule in the next two months was almost planned beforehand. He could write down the cities he would go to and he would stay in so Amy would find him easier.

Karen stopped talking when he saw a white bird flying towards them. The little bird landed on Amy's hand and pretended to eat something from her palm. Then it flew away. Amy got up from her seat and said, "Since I'm informed by Mimi, I'll go SOU after Roseway." Karen said, "I've never seen a white sparrow."

Amy explained to him, "It's one of the mutant species. It's small, fast, and powerful which makes it an ideal communication method." She told Karen that Mimi could talk to birds and explained how she could train them. Karen listened to her with interest. They would return to Roseway separately. Amy would be on her way as soon as she got the list from Karen there.
