At Yi Ru's words, the soldiers burst into the mansion; surrounding her uncle. Her uncle looked at her angrily while her parents looked at her with confusion.
"Arrest minister of the right." At her command, all of the guards rushed into the room
"Why would you do this to me? I HELPED YOU TO BECOME THE QUEEN!" her uncle asked her and she shook her head
"Uncle, I've told you repeatedly that I did not wish to take the position of queen since the queen was a good friend of mine. Yet you still assassinated her and implicated our whole clan." Yi Ru said to her uncle
"Take him away. The king will deal with him." Yi Ru said to the soldiers, that they rushed her uncle out of his mansion, leaving her alone with her parents. Her parents were confused as to what had happened but they seemed to have caught onto why her uncle was being arrested.
Yi Ru explained the situation to her parents in more detail and also told them about the outcome for them. Once she was done arranging things with her parents, she returned to the palace.
Li Cheng sat up high on his throne as they dragged the minister of the right into the throne room, as he tried to contain his anger.
"For the murder of the queen, you, your family, and all of your relatives will be executed!" Li Cheng said to him
"Please, your majesty! I've worked my whole life for your father and dedicated the rest to you! You can't treat me like this!" the minister shouted at him but Li Cheng was angry over the death of his wife
"Does it matter how much you've done for the kingdom when you murdered your queen in cold blood?!" Li Cheng asked him
"A proper queen should be from a well-bred family and not some random woman! Plus a queen should be able to give the kingdom an heir!" the minister shouted
"There has never been a better queen than her! I took in your niece who will soon give birth to the hier you so wanted!" Li Cheng Shouted back at him
"TAKE HIM TO THE DUNGEN. HE WILL BE EXECUTED TOMORROW AT NOON!" Li Cheng said and the minister was dragged away from the audience room. Li Cheng went back to the back room of the audience room, Yi Ru was sitting there waiting for him.
"....Now that we found the mastermind, what are your going to do next?" Yi Ru asked him with a sullen face
"Once the person who killed her dies, I will bury her." Li Cheng said to Yi Ru but she knew more than anyone that he would not be able to bury her alone.
"Is that all? What about my child and I?" Yi Ru asked him
"I will take care of everything." Li Cheng said to her before he walked out of the room and back to where his wife's cold body was.
He kept his head down as he walked into their bedroom, Li Cheng walked over to her ice bed and held onto her hand.
"Mei.....The world has never been so quiet before...But since you left me...It has gotten so quiet and so..so so grey." Li Cheng said to her with a shaky voice yet there was no tears, he remembered all of the things that the two of them shared. How she would've wanted him to do everything he could to continue to live on without her but he knew that he could not live without her.
"....You..you know..Mei, You said that the happiest day of your life was when we had our wedding. Let's hold it for one last time and this time I will hang the lanterns just like you wanted. Let's hold it tomorrow." Li Cheng said to her and he walked out of the room.
After the execution of the minister, Li Cheng came back to his palace personally hanged every single lantern, and decorated his whole palace. He then personally dressed her up in her old wedding dress.
"You're still as beautiful as the first time that we met each other, Mei." Li Cheng said to her as he set the whole place on fire before he lay down next to Mei, both of their body burned together, ashes that mixed; no one could part the two of them now.
It was at that moment that Bai Jue opened his eyes in the nine heavens before he burned down his palace.
As they were all watching this end, Hou Chi also opened her eyes and sat there just staring at Bai Jue.
"Hou Chi." Bai Jue called out to her, she looked away from him and stood up from the bed that she was provided.
"I hope you saw what you wanted to see, I still have many things to attend to." Hou Chi said to them as she was about to head out but Bai Jue held onto her hand
"Tell me that you remember all of that." Bai Jue said to her and she turned to look at him
"I do, but that was just our love tribulant and thus it was not who we are." Hou Chi said to him but he refused to let her walk away from him.
The pain of losing her was still fresh in his mind and his heart, his love for her was still just as raw as it was when he first fell in love. Yet there was no love in her eyes as if the memories she'd just recalled weren't hers.
"But I-" Bai Jue said to her but she shook his hand free
"I would like to return to my palace if there is nothing else." Hou Chi said to him and headed back to her palace, following behind was her tiger spirit followed behind her closely as she looked back at her teacher.
"Thank you, for letting me use your phoenix pearl." Bai Jue said to Er'Xi as he walked out of the four-season palace and towards his palace. His head hung low while he walked back, that day he went to bed with a heavy heart but when he woke up from a good night's sleep; he was determined that he would win her back no matter what.
