Chapter 9 - Chapter 7

Shane

I snuggle my pillow feeling strangely calm. Wait, my pillow? I open my eyes and sit up.

Looking around, trying to remember where I am. Then fear struck me. The last I can remember is a monster grabbing me and carrying me to god nowhere. Touching my neck, I discover that the slave collar was removed.

I get out of bed, trying to make sense of where I am. It's not looking like a cell or a slaughterhouse. But where I am? I see a door on the left beside the bed. Another entrance is opposite the window. The room I'm in is otherwise spartan. There are a table and two chairs and something that looks like a cabinet.

I move to the window and lookout. It seems like I'm back in Hyperspace. I start to panic. I got kidnapped on top of everything else happening. Oh god, I'm the unluckiest human there is. I don't even have anything besides the clothes I wear anymore. But I'm still alive, that must count for something, right? I walk to the door left of the bed.

It opens automatically when I am standing before it. It reveals basic things. A toilet, a sink, a space shower. So even monsters have necessities. Good to know, I think. Realizing I have a full bladder, I go and relieve myself. I clean my hands afterward and look in the mirror above the sink. I look like shit, my eyes are still red-rimmed and puffed from sobbing. My hair is a total mess, sticking in every direction.

I have no idea how long I was out. I walk out of the bathroom when the door opens. Behind that big man who steps in, I can see the corridor of a spaceship. The man looks humanoid, wait he is a Xertian.

When I researched them, I saw a few pictures. He is big and pure muscle. His skin is gray, his hair is short and black as midnight. He has red slitted eyes that captivate me. I can see two curved horns on his head. So, he is an alpha.

I start to shudder, he is handsome but terrifying. The monsters I saw must be their shifted forms. He starts to speak, but I still can't understand him. And then he starts to move towards me, the spell I seem under is broken.

I flinch back and topple over the bed. Realizing that I'm now even more vulnerable, I crawl backward on my bed. Till I hit the wall, I start to shake all over. I look up at him and realize he didn't move more than the two steps before I flinched.

He has his hands up palms out. In the universal gesture that he doesn't want to harm me, and it seems he wants me to calm down. He still speaks, but I really can't understand him.

"I... I don't understand." I say while pointing to my ears and shrug.

I hope he gets what I mean. He starts to smile and nods.

Then he makes a "come to me" gesture. I hesitate, his smile turns sad, but he doesn't move to force me. Gulping, I stand up from the bed, and his smile returns. He slowly takes two steps towards me. Like I'm the big terrifying predator. No, I'm not, but I think he tries to show me that he doesn't want to harm me.

I take a deep breath and take a few steps to him. He slowly reaches for my hand. I try to keep still, all he does is grabbing it secure in his big one. His hand is warm, his grip firm but not to the point of hurt, and I'm sure he could hurt me.

He points to the door and makes a gesture I can't identify. Not really having a choice, and I'm yet to be mistreated, I nod. Together we walk out of the door.
