As our eyes locked, the stone wall that I had built around my heart began to crumble again, leaving me vulnerable. This was the reason why I had been avoiding Jordan's eyes.
Jordan reached out his hand and I quickly grabbed it. Slowly, he pulled me up and gently into his warm embrace. Jordan's strong arms wrapped around me with a gentle yet firm grip and a sense of safety and comfort took over me as I held him too. I could feel Jordan's heartbeat against my chest.
Overwhelmed with emotion, tears streamed down my face, dampening Jordan's pristine white shirt, while he tenderly caressed my hair. I couldn't believe all he went through when his helicopter crashed.
"Jordan, I'm…I'm… sorry," I mumbled through my tears. "I didn't mean what I said that night. I'm not in love with your friend," I murmured, my voice trembling. Jordan remained silent, continuing to soothe me by tousling my hair and giving me a few shivery kisses.
