Kiara put her hand in the air with a smile.
"Think about it. Let's use this hypothetical scenario. Let's say that you're just walking on the street and you see a man holding a woman against the wall. It looks like a violent and dangerous scene. You feel like helping the woman. However, if it was the opposite way around, the woman holding the man against the wall, it doesn't seem as serious."
"What're you—?!"
"We could also use sexual assaults as examples. We hear a lot of men assaulting women but not women assaulting men. It seems like they don't exist when they do, they just happen less than the former. Men are known to be more barbaric while women are gentler. You didn't listen to Ayato and started to blame this situation on him. As a woman or even a man, that's something inexcusable."
Kiara glared at Miyako.
She then turned to Saya, who had her forehead bandaged.
"What's your name?"
"Oh, me? I'm Saya Chikuchi."
For a second, Kiara froze. However, she shook her head and continued.
"How long have you known that girl, Miyako?"
"Well, for 7 years at this point."
"How about you?"
She turned to Emika.
"I'm Emika Akino. I've known her since before Golden Week."
The girl on the stool smiled.
"So, why did you take Miyako Arima's side? I can't believe choosing between friends is easy."
"Well, that's because Ayato was being rude to her."
"But she was rude to Ayato first. You only reacted when she cried and ran off."
Kiara reviewed security footage before this.
"Miyako insulted Ayato first, so he insulted her back. But Ayato is made out to be the villain because Miyako Arima ran off crying, isn't that right?"
"No—"
"Then why did you take her side?"
Kiara pressured Emika. The girl couldn't think of another answer. 'Because she's my friend' wouldn't be an adequate answer.
"Do I need a reason?"
She asked.
"Then let me rephrase that for you. Why did you take Miyako Arima's side over Ayato Kyouya's?"
Emika stayed silent.
"I do not doubt that you are good friends with Miyako Arima but you took the wrong side. If you can't provide an answer, then let me tell you, Akino. The reason why you took Miyako Arima's side is because she is a girl. To society, anyone who makes a girl cry is a villain, right? Am I right?"
"No, that's not why..."
"Stop it!"
Saya shouted. She couldn't stand Kiara's cynical standpoint. She wanted to do something.
"W-why are you doing this? We know that we were wrong."
"You don't. Because Miyako Arima over there hasn't admitted to her wrongdoing. Doing it half-heartedly isn't going to work. Moreover, you have some bullshit pride which stops you from admitting that you were wrong in your argument with Ayato Kyouya."
The student council president turned to the brown-haired girl.
"You think strong people are disgusting? Well, the same could be said for the weak. Just like you."
Miyako shivered.
"Because someone has something that you don't have, you expect them to behave in a way that benefits others. You call them ugly and disgusting out of jealousy."
"What's wrong with doing something for others? Isn't that how society functions?"
The girl tightly gripped her bedsheet in her anger. Kiara wasn't amused.
"Ayato Kyouya has killed over 2,000 people. Most of them were when he was an assassin. Do you still think that he should use his power for others?"
Miyako held in her words. She couldn't retort to that. The girl was too caught up in her feelings.
"Anyone can grow strong from hard work. Ayato was never talented."
"That's bullshit. If so, then we'd have multiple World Magicians."
Miyako cursed. Kiara sighed and smiled at the girl.
"What if I told you that his Magic Seal was Deconstruction and Reconstruction? What would you say about it?"
"That it's unfair."
Retsuya replied, despite the question being aimed at Miyako. He was the only one, excluding Kiara, who had seen his Magic Seal in action.
"Not only can he use it so well, he can use it at a distance. That's too overpowered even for a Magic Seal."
"His Magic Seal popped out of nowhere. He didn't originally have one until he was 6 years old."
Late bloomers weren't that uncommon among magicians. However, the only one who had a problem with this statement was Retsuya.
"Wait, but didn't he kill one of the Kyouya concubines at the age of 4? I thought he did it with his Magic Seal."
He was shaken.
"No, he killed her with tools."
He covered his mouth imagining the grotesque scene in his mind.
"Anyway, when it first manifested, it was nothing more than deconstructing things as small as a pencil and reconstructing small cuts and bugs. However, it changed when he was being hunted for 10 years. He evolved during that time."
She said with a blank stare. She was remembering how Ayato was before everything happened.
Miyako wasn't buying the story. Rather, she didn't want to. She was stubborn.
"You expect me to believe this story? It's bullshit."
"Why? Because Ayato is strong? Your reasoning is flawed."
Murderous intent seeped from Kiara. The entire room was filled with it. The others could feel the full brunt of her bloodlust even if it was directed at Miyako.
"You think that the world revolves around you but it doesn't. You wish it did. Because of that, you give up before you even try."
As Miyako was about to say something, Kiara cut in.
"What? 'That's wrong!' Is that what you were going to say? If so, then tell me why you hate Ayato so much. You wish you could be like him but can't?"
The girl jumped up from her bed and activated her Magic Seal. Before she could move any further, Kiara's shadow extended into a large shadow horn. It pierced toward her, stopping before Miyako's throat.
"Ngh..."
"Don't test me. I'm also seething because you're hurting my brother with such stupid things. Sit back down."
She ordered. As much as Miyako didn't want to, her body ached. She only had one arm and couldn't take on Kiara Kyouya.
Reluctantly, the girl sat back down on her bed. She deactivated her Berserker. The shadow horn retracted as she did, returning to being a normal shadow.
"You better shut up and listen until I finish talking. I'm sure you have your own sad past, right, Miyako Arima?"
It was a rhetorical question. Miyako averted her eyes because she didn't want to risk anything.
"Now,"
Kiara uncrossed her legs.
"I'll tell you the story of Ayato Kyouya—the melancholic past of a boy who wished to be loved."
