The quiet hum of the city that Kosi once dreaded was not what had woken him up but rather a still asleep Rue. Looking to his side his usually composed and cool girlfriend laid next to him mouth agape and snoring. Smiling warmly he gently kissed her forehead and got out of bed.
Dread filled Rues mind when she woke up minutes later realizing she let herself fall into a deep sleep remembering how Elise a d Willow describe her sleeping habits. Her first morning living with Kosi had already not gone as planned. Burying her head in her hands she screamed internally hoping maybe their friends had exaggerated her snoring. Facing her fear she got out of bed and went to get ready.
To her surprise Kosi was just going about his morning. "Morning babe" he said smiling from the kitchen as he saw her walking towards the bathroom. "Um hey babe, morning" she replied smiling tentatively.
Stopping at the door she turned to face Kosi. "Um did I...ugh did I snore?" she blurted out. Keeping a straight face Kosi looked at her "yep" he said with a warm smile. Internally cringing she rolled her eyes "next time just lie" she replied snarkily before smiling and heading into the bathroom.
Walking off to work they ran into Willow and Jenny. Visibly giggling and affectionate Rue and Kosi tried to just leave them to their euphoria. "Hey Rue I got something to ask you!" Willow shouted as she walked towards them to as Jenny rolled her eyes and followed.
"Alright this young lady here won't tell me what you guys are building for us sooo come on tell me" she said jovially. "Uh oh you're outta luck my lips are sealed" Rue replied with a shrug as she and Jenny shared a knowing look.
"Alright. Kosi tell me, she can't keep anything from you" Willow said smirking at Kosi. "This is news to me, I had no idea they were even doing that" he replied shaking his head. "Damn she already got you too" Willow said looking skeptically to Kosi.
"No honest. I'm as lost as you are right now, what are you guys building?" Kosi said looking to Jenny. "What're you asking me for ask your girlfriend" she said pointing to Rue. "Hey I don't build I do boring lab data stuff you're the one handling gas tanks and gu.." Rue said before stopping herself mid sentence as her eyes went wide. Staring daggers through Rue Jenny groaned.
"Ugh fine we WEREN'T supposed to let it slip cause some people are still against it but you guys are getting weapons. MAYBE, listen to the maybe there's no official guarantee we're actually gonna make more just the prototypes" she said emphatically looking at both Willow and Kosi sternly.
Visibly giddy with excitement the pair nodded along to her warning. "Gee actually K I think we should get to work" Willow said looking at Kosi. "Yeah actually I think you're right the captain hates it when we're not there on time" Kosi said already backing away towards the Exploration Project building. "Yeah don't want to get uh fined or something" Willow said trailing off as they hurried off to the building.
"So that's your boyfriend huh" Jenny said to Rue. "So that's your girlfriend huh" Rue retorted. "Oh so that's your boyfriend and your best friend running off to try playing with guns like that" Jenny said with a smile. Looking at each other the pair laughed. "Alright you got me what can I say they're idiots sometimes but they're our idiots" Rue replied with a smile. "Yeah, so it was nice kinda finally meeting Kosi" Jenny said as the pair walked to work together.
Bouncing into the common room Kosi and Willow were seen by Jude and Brodie. "Since when are you two so chummy chummy?" Jude asked seeing the smiles on their faces. "Since gu...ys, oh guys we're all family, we work together and our girlfriends are friends too why wouldn't we be close" Kosi said with a shrug.
"I've literally never seen you two hang out" Brodie said in a deadpan tone. "Well you're seeing it now" Willow replied snarkily. "Yeah, wait what's that?" Jude asked hearing a loud hum coming from a distance and getting louder.
Noticing it too the other Explorers present looked around before a dramatic door swing drew their attention. Rushing into the room a pair of lab technicians held the doors open as Thomas flew in wearing an Exploration Body Suit. Removing his helmet he looked at the team.
"Alright, FALL IN" everyone said in unison with him. "Yeah yeah have your fun cause you're gonna be hard at work over the next six months" he said with a mischievous smile.
"Weren't we picking teams today?" Eric asked with a quizzical look on his face. "Yes you are but first allow me to show you the new and improved Exploration suits and a few extras" he said motioning to the door as lab technicians walked in holding three sets of equipment.
"Team leaders you're in for a very special demonstration later today. Complete with gas tanks for added propulsion, metallic claws for climbing and guns!" Thomas exclaimed maniacally.
