Bella Scott looked back and forth between Elyssa Scott and Charles White, teasing, "I just thought of a saying: 'Today you ignore me, tomorrow I'll be out of your league.' Life is unpredictable; who knows, one day you might like me, but by then I might have fallen in love with someone else."
Both Elyssa and Charles glanced at each other, thinking that the probability of what Bella said happening was zero.
Bella noticed their expressions and said, "Don't worry, Charles, I'm not interested in you now."
With that said, she drove away.
Being a woman already committed to someone, she couldn't possibly engage in any extramarital affairs in the coming year.
At the same time, Elyssa and Charles were soon to be married, and there would be no room for Bella in Charles' life.
Maybe her fondness for Charles could only last until today...
As they watched Bella's car disappear into the night, Elyssa sighed softly, "I've wanted to get along with my sister more than once, but she doesn't like me. She thinks I have ulterior motives in everything I do."
Bella rarely comes home to the Scotts, and you two will have even fewer chances to meet in the future. As long as you don't provoke her, she won't provoke you. Maintaining the status quo is fine."
Charles had hardly finished speaking when Elyssa stared at him for two seconds.
Charles raised an eyebrow, "What's the matter?"
"Every time we talk about my sister, you defend her, and it makes me jealous," Elyssa pouted.
Charles chuckled, "When did I defend her?" Bella, by nature, doesn't mess with others unless provoked and is open-minded. She has the pride of a man, and such a woman would certainly make a mark if she were a man.
But as a woman, without the tenderness of a girl, she seems out of place.
"Still denying it. It sounded like from what you just said that I love provoking my sister. I'm just trying to build a good relationship with her..."
"Kallie, are you naive or ignorant? Your mother took Bella's father away; how could she possibly be close with you? How Bella has interacted with the Scotts over the years, you're not unaware. Why do you insist on trying to make something impossible happen?" Charles shook his head, feeling that sometimes Elyssa was too much of a perfectionist.
Elyssa's pretty face fell, and she hit Charles's chest with her fist, "So you think I'm meddlesome? Is it wrong for me to want to get along with my sister? You say you're not defending her, but you clearly are..."
Charles grabbed her restless hand, "Okay, okay, it's my fault. In the future, whatever you say, I'll agree. Is that alright?"
Elyssa pouted and shook her head, "No... um..."
What happened next was a natural progression.
