Following the method Emma Smith had taught him before, he greeted everyone: "Hi Great-Grandpa, Granny Anderson, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Aunt, and Oliver."
After finishing his greeting, he ran to Oliver. Oliver said, "Mom just got me a new toy! Let's go upstairs and put it together!"
Tommy nodded in agreement, and the two kids and the dog quickly rushed upstairs. Keeping the children away was David and Charlotte's idea, as they believed there would likely be a quarrel downstairs. Involving the children would be bad for them in the long run.
Anyhow, there wasn't anything scandalous about the situation, like a secret love affair, for instance. Ahem.
Everyone shared the same thought, and once Tommy and Oliver had gone upstairs, the family meeting officially commenced.
Before anything else, Robert happily brought a chair over for Emma to rest on.
