"Mom says that if you eat too much candy, your teeth will get worms. Before, Uncle Andrew only bought Tommy one piece of candy a day."
Uncle Andrew, Dylan knew, was Emma's neighbor Andrew Lee, who had taken care of Emma and her son in the past. He seemed to think of something, asking Thomas, "Tommy, does this Uncle Andrew and your mom have an especially close relationship?"
"Close?" The little guy didn't understand such an obscure word. Dylan explained, "For example, you stay at their house, or they stay at your house!"
"Yes!" Thomas nodded, Dylan's face instantly darkened.
"Sometimes when Mom has to go on a business trip, she leaves Tommy to stay at Uncle Andrew's house for a few days. A while ago, Tommy stayed at their house for a whole month!"
