Chereads / Married To The Cursed Monarch / Chapter 8 - Full Moon

Chapter 8 - Full Moon

Standing up from her chair, Camila then said shyly, "I'm gonna go to bed now!"

She stated and hearing that, Logan nodded as he said, "Have a good sleep my lady!" He stated.

And with that Camelia went to bed while he went on ahead to do some work.

Through out the whole night, Camelia didn't sleep a wink, she kept on turning around the bed as she sometimes stared at Logan as he worked.

She didn't know why she was finding it hard to sleep, maybe it was because this was a whole new environment for her.

Unfortunately she was unable to visit the place her mother had told her to go go.

But some hours later, she found herself in dream land.

In the stillness of the night, Camelia's eyes fluttered open, immediately met with the darkness that enveloped her bedchamber.

She sat up, her heart pounding with an inexplicable restlessness that refused to let her drift back into slumber. Her gaze wandered to the empty space beside her, where Logan, her husband should have been lying soundly.

Confusion furrowed her brow, wondering where he could have gone at such an hour.

Driven by an unsettling feeling, Camelia swung her legs over the edge of the bed and rose to her feet. Her bare feet touched the cool marble floor as she made her way towards the balcony, searching for any sign of her husband.

As she stepped out into the moonlit night, her eyes adjusted to the dim light that bathed the world outside.

Just as she was about to call out for Logan, her attention was suddenly captured by a mysterious movement in the distance.

Her curiosity piqued, she squinted her eyes, trying to discern the source of the shadowy figure that danced among the trees beyond the palace grounds.

Unable to resist the allure of the unknown, Camelia descended the grand staircase, her silk nightgown flowing around her like a ghostly apparition.

She moved through the silent halls, her footsteps barely making a sound against the polished marble floors. The scent of night-blooming flowers wafted through the air, adding an ethereal quality to the atmosphere.

As she reached the garden, a hushed gasp escaped her lips. Before her stood a magnificent creature, tall and imposing, its body covered in thick fur that shimmered silver under the moonlight.

Camelia's eyes widened in disbelief as she realized she was face-to-face with a werewolf.

Fear mingled with awe as she watched the creature, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly intensity. She noticed a hint of familiarity in its gaze, as if it recognized her presence.

Camelia's heart raced, unsure of whether to remain frozen in fear or to retreat to the safety of the palace.

But something in the werewolf's eyes touched her on a deeper level, stirring a sense of compassion within her. With cautious steps, she approached the creature, her hand outstretched in a gesture of peace. The werewolf hesitated, its gaze softening as it studied her.

In that moment, Camelia realized that this mysterious being was not a threat but rather a lost soul, trapped between worlds. In its eyes, she saw the pain and longing for acceptance. She felt a surge of empathy, a desire to understand and help.

With steady determination, Camelia extended her hand further, offering solace to the creature before her. And as the werewolf cautiously approached, their worlds collided, bridging the gap between human and beast, and forging an unexpected connection that would forever alter the course of their lives.

Just then, the beast eyes turned red as it tried to attack her and seeing that, Camelia stepped back a little as she tried to run.

But she was cut between walls, and with nowhere to go. The beast approaching her as it's claws drooled.

Was she gonna die here? Was this how she would end up leaving this world? Camelia asked herself.

As the beast charged towards her, and in her last moments she had just one name to call upon.

"Logan!"

She said as tears fell from her eyes, using her hands to protect herself, she called his name once more, "Logan!"

And upon hearing that, the beast's eyes turned to normal as the anger subsided.

In a flash of transformation, the werewolf morphed back into a human form, revealing a disheveled and bewildered Logan. His eyes widened in shock as he realized what had just transpired.

"Camelia, what... what happened?" Logan stammered, his voice filled with concern.

Camelia, still shaken but relieved, managed to catch her breath. "I... I don't know, Logan. It was a werewolf, and it was going to attack me, but when I called your name, it stopped."

Camelia said as she then realized the words what he had just said.

But before she could say anything else, bang. Something hard hut her and she fell straight to Logan's arms.

"Sorry Camelia, but you've already seen to much!"

As the first rays of sunlight gently filtered through the windows of the grand chamber, Camelia slowly stirred from her slumber. She blinked her eyes open, feeling a slight ache in her head, as if the weight of her responsibilities had followed her into her dreams.

Just as she was about to rise from her regal bed, the ornate double doors swung open, and her personal maids, Mary and Sarah, entered the room with a small entourage of other diligent helpers. They were all dressed in elegant uniforms, ready to attend to her every need.

Mary, with her warm smile and gentle demeanor, approached Camelia's bedside, holding a tray adorned with a delicate porcelain cup of steaming herbal tea.

She knew that Camelia needed a comforting touch. "My lady, I have prepared a soothing brew to ease your discomfort," Mary said softly, her voice carrying a hint of concern.

Sarah, on the other hand, exuded an air of efficiency and grace. She swiftly moved towards the Camelia's dressing table, arranging an array of luxurious cosmetics and accessories.

With practiced hands, she began selecting the perfect jewels and garments to enhance the Camelia's natural beauty.

As Camelia sat up, her head still throbbing slightly, the other maids sprang into action. They drew back the heavy curtains, allowing the sun's golden light to flood the room. The gentle breeze carried with it the scent of fresh flowers, filling the chamber with a soothing fragrance.

One maid approached with a silver tray, laden with a selection of delectable fruits and pastries. Another maid offered a crystal carafe filled with cool, refreshing water. They all worked harmoniously, their movements synchronized like a well-rehearsed ballet.

Amidst the flurry of activity, Mary returned with the cup of herbal tea and held it out to Camelia.

Camelia gratefully accepted it, sipping the warm liquid as its healing properties began to take effect. The soothing blend of chamomile and lavender worked its magic, easing the tension in her head and calming her spirit.

Camelia, now feeling invigorated, rose gracefully from her bed. The maids continued their diligent efforts, adorning her in a resplendent gown and placing a crown of shimmering jewels upon her head. With each touch and every gesture, they transformed her into the epitome of regal elegance.

As the maids stood back, gazing upon their handiwork with pride, Camelia looked at herself in the mirror. The reflection that stared back at her was not only that of a Lady but also a woman who possessed the strength and resilience to face any challenge that came her way.

Just then, Mary Smiled as she asked, "How was your night last night, My Lady?" She questioned as the other maids giggled slightly.

And upon hearing that, Camlia, still staring at herself in the mirror, just replied bluntly, "It was Normal, although I had some trouble sleeping since it is a new environment, I still enjoyed my sleep!"

She said taking Mary and the other maids by Surprise.

"M-my lady, didn't you and his highness spend the night together?" She asked.

As Camlia nodded, "Well yes he did sleep here I guess, you know what.. I don't quite remember anything, from last night to this morning.. my memory is a little blurry.."

She said as Mary and Sarah exchanged a worried look.

"You all may leave now!" Mary said to the other maids as they bowed and made their way out.

And with only three of them in the room, Mary then said, "My lady, Please don't tell me that you and his highness haven't get consummated your marriage yet?"

She questioned with a worried expression and hearing that, Camlia was a little taken aback by how serious the two of them were taking this.

"Well.. yes, we haven't consummated our marriage yet, I told his highness that I still needed sometimes to get accustomed to the palace and our marriage before I lay with him and he agreed!"

Camelia said as she made her way to the dressing table as Mary and Sarah followed her.

"But your highness, consummating your marriage with his highness is very very important, if news gets out.. people would think his highness doesn't love you, and it won't be good for your reputation!"

Mary stated as Sarah then said, "Your Highness, have you ever wondered why we still recognize you as a lady not yet as Queen?"

Sarah asked as Camlia furrowed her brows a little as shs said, "I'm sure it's because my coronation as Queen hasn't been done yet!"

She stated as Mary and Sarah shaked their heads, "No your highness!"

"According to the tradition of the kingdom of Kalis, if the monarch were to Marry his first wife she would be recognized as a lazy until the day she bears her first child and heir to the throne!" Mary explained.

"And so your highness, even though you are his highnesses wife, his highness is still allowed to marry as many woman as he can and if they were to beat him his heir, then they shall be Queen to matter what!"
