"Ah, a rare compliment," Jev said, pleased. Usually, Vol would take his evening meal wordlessly, and offer no comments as he wolfed it down. "The village chief had all sorts of little jars hidden away. I managed to haggle away some salt for us, and some vegetables that they've pickled. We'll be eating well for the next two days, Boss."
"How much did the man charge?" Vol asked.
"Five golds, all told," Jev said, wincing. "Even at triple the price for every foodstuffs, the man was definitely overcharging us. The cheek on him… But Harland has already paid him regardless. Said not to trouble you with the like of coin tonight."
Vol grunted. "I'll need to pay him back," he said, though he had no idea where the man had gotten to. He'd thought that he'd likely find him amongst the tables, though as he looked around he still couldn't catch a single glimpse of the man.
