After gently guiding the old lady to sit on the sofa, Georgia couldn't contain her surprise and inquired, "Grandma, are you here all alone?"
While Georgia hadn't frequented her old family home in recent times, she was well aware that the elderly lady was always accompanied by her staff whenever she ventured outside. Seeing her grandmother unaccompanied raised concerns.
The elderly lady let out a weary sigh, her grip on Georgia's hand resolute. "In truth, I ran away from home."
Georgia was taken aback. "What?"
The old lady was, in essence, the matriarch of the Jack family, an imposing figure. Her abrupt departure from the family home would undoubtedly send shockwaves through the Jack household.
The old lady snorted indignantly, her crutch emphatically striking the floor. "I'm furious! Imor! How dare you divorce behind my back! This time, I'm leaving home!"
With fiery determination, she brandished her crutch once more, pounding it against the ground.
Observing the old lady's steely resolve, Georgia could do nothing but smile and offer a gentle inquiry, "Leaving home? Grandma, how did you manage to come here? And how did you even know this is where I live?"
"After learning about your divorce yesterday, I inquired about your home address. Today, I ventured out on my own, without notifying anyone. It took quite some time and effort to locate your residence after I hailed a taxi here," the old lady explained.
Surveying the silver-haired figure before her, Georgia couldn't help but feel a pang of concern. Softly, she said, "Grandma, you've been through quite an ordeal."
The old lady shook her head resolutely. "No suffering, Georgia. I'm here to make Jack worried! He must come and personally fetch us back!"
Hearing this, Georgia couldn't help but wear a wry smile and admitted, "Grandma, it was I who initiated the divorce."
"What?" The old lady was utterly taken aback. "What happened? Did that Jack boy mistreat you? Georgia, tell me everything, and Grandma will ensure justice is served!"
Despite the old lady's fervent stance, Georgia knew she was unaware of the children's existence.
Taking a deep breath, Georgia mustered a faint smile. "Grandma, what I'm telling you is the truth."
Despite Georgia's assurances, the old lady remained skeptical.
"Georgia, no more words. I know you're a good girl. Even if you're wronged, you won't say a word. I'm here, waiting for that rascal to come and apologize and explain everything!"
Confronted with the elderly lady's unwavering resolve, Georgia found herself at a loss for words. She could only acquiesce, "Alright, Grandma, you can stay with me until Jack comes to meet you."
The old lady refused to release Georgia's hand, nodding her agreement with determination. "I'll stay right here."
A warm feeling enveloped Georgia as she looked at the endearing elderly lady beside her. Not everyone in her life treated her with such unwavering kindness.
To placate her grandmother, Georgia engaged in conversations with Ms. Liu and Professor Ruan, both of whom readily consented to her plan. Additionally, Ms. Liu and the old lady were acquainted from before, and they spent time chatting and tending to the houseplants, fostering a harmonious rapport.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the story, the Jack family's ancestral home was in turmoil, unaware of the elderly lady's departure.
