Seraphina’s POV
Driving to the safe house was tense, to say the least. Nick white-knuckled gripped the steering wheel the whole time. The radio was off and he only stared at the road not talking to me. I was going to say something but seeing the permanent glare on his face I closed my mouth and focused on the view outside of the window.
At some point during the drive, I fell asleep. I woke up when someone shook my shoulder. I opened my eyes and looked around to see the sky had darkened entirely. I looked to see Nick standing outside my door.
“Where are we?” I asked, rubbing my eyes.
“Some boat dock.” He spoke very coldly to me. He looked around motioning for me to get out of the car. I stepped out to see if he was right. A few feet in front of me was a small boat.
“Come on, we got to go.” He began to walk away but stopped and held out his hand for me. I smiled softly while taking it. He led me over to the boat, he stepped into the boat first before helping me in.
