Chapter 1 - Prologue

Third Person POV

"Honey please promise me." The woman lay in the hospital bed looking over at her newest child. A beautiful baby girl.

"Darling, I won't have to because you are gonna be okay." The man shook his head in denial.

"Atticus, please you heard the doctor. I ask of you not as your wife but as a mother please take care of our girls until you retire." She put her hand weakly on his. Her skin is cold, her face draining of color as they speak.

"OK. I promise you, my love." The man held back his tears watching his wife die. Knowing his children would spend the rest of their life without her, his youngest will never meet her. While his wife was pregnant with their princess she had been given the diagnosis of cancer. By refusing treatment for her child's safety she had been given not long to live.

The trauma of birth had given the best and worst news. His child was okay but his wife was now living on borrowed time and would be gone any minute.

With the baby's cries, he got up and brought over his youngest to his wife one last time.

"What should we name her?" He asked his wife looking down at his golden-eyed baby.

"Seraphina."

"Seraphina Angel King. I love it." With the name picked out the man kissed his daughter's forehead. Not noticing his wife fainting behind him until the heart monitor beeped rapidly.

A team of nurses rushed him and Seraphina out of the room as they worked to bring back his wife, an effort he knew was futile.

He sat there with his daughter in his arms crying and whispering words into her little ear.

"I promise, My Love."
