Mordred is currently checking the map of Japan. Formulating a plan to box in their targets in case they're really planning something. Which the chance is really high.
"Shouldn't we just run in and blast them to oblivion?" Mo-chan tapped her sword on her armor and Mordred sighed at her.
"Mo-chan, this is a mission to investigate. We can only annihilate them if we find incriminating evidence. We're dragons, not savages." Mordred deadpanned at her.
"It's pretty tempting, but just charging in would give us a bad name. Remember, Mordred is currently establishing a faction. It would be bad if people think that we're some kind of evil dragons or something." Ise looked at her like she was an idiot.
"Hehe~ Sorry." Mo-chan scratched her head sheepishly.
Her place on the food chain was quickly established after spending a few days with them. And a group of dragons would definitely test their strength against the newcomer.
And even Masaomi beat the crap out of her. He was like a blur with shukuchi. It was definitely cheating in her eyes.
It's a magical movement from Scathach after all. And with Mo-chan's swordsmanship which isn't the most refined, Masaomi outclassed her in speed and technique massively.
Masaomi hones his swordplay against Mordred who can fight with eight swords. Without any delays or problems in his thought process. And he polishes his swordplay more than anyone.
So currently, she's in the bottom of the barrel. Though she could beat Valerie. But that doesn't make her feel good at all.
"So, what are we going to do?" Mo-chan got depressed. She is a proud knight, and getting her ass kicked by kids hit her ego like a truck. Shirone and the others were like half her height.
"Yasaka told me that a recent accident concerning a cruise ship headed to Hawaii is suspicious." Mordred took out some newspaper and they read it.
"A cruise ship sinking out of nowhere? My left arm is tingling in suspicion." Vali who developed a certain syndrome due to watching anime with Shirone held her arm like it was throbbing.
"Is something wrong with her arm?" Mo-chan whispered to Ise and the brunette sighed.
"She's at that age, proclaiming that she's the last descendant of the devil; Lucifer. And that she's a great, heavenly dragon." Ise rolled her eyes.
"Kukuku~ I can already imagine the white one's reaction when I bring this up later." Ddraig commented and Ise smirked.
"You're right Ddraig, I've got tons of evidence here." She took out a camera stealthily.
"And what more, all of the students who supposedly died in that accident were quickly obscured by the media. Their families also moved out instantly after mourning and they disappeared under the radar." Mordred balled his fist and his aura started leaking.
It reeked of the supernatural and it was another one of their whims. Which was unacceptable. High schoolers who have the rest of their lives ahead of them were robbed of it under the Shinto pantheon's noses.
"It seems that we have to show ourselves once again. And this is the perfect time for you to make yourself useful." Mordred looked at Mo-chan and she nodded seriously.
His normally calm and serene mana was chaotic. And she could feel the hairs on her skin stand on end at his fury.
"Yes master." Mo-chan kneeled and Mordred nodded.
"So first, we investigate. Skoll, Hati, with me." Mordred wanted the dogs as extra sniffers. They barked and transformed into smaller forms.
"Kuroka and Shirone are studying under Sun Wukong right now, so we don't have our best infiltrators. Don't reveal yourself and find everything you can about them." Mordred ordered and everybody saluted.
Lavinia immediately went to Grauzauberer so she could ask the mage association.
Ise and Vali teamed up, Cleria and Masaomi disguised themselves as a normal couple and began roaming around.
Meredith and Dulio pretended to be siblings that were having a vacation in Japan.
"So I am with you, master?" Mo-chan grinned and she thought that they would have some excitement with this assignment.
"Do not disappoint me." Mordred snapped his fingers and they melted into the shadows.
__Japan__
In an apartment, one 2nd year high schooler woke up with cold sweat upon having a nightmare once again.
"Sae..." He frowned heavily and he panted for some air.
The boy took his ID and it showed his name; Tobio Ikuse.
He was going on auto pilot. Going to school after the week long break due to the accident.
And after he went back home, he just stewed in his thoughts. Thinking of what could be if he didn't get sick on the day of the trip.
It was still fresh inside of his mind, his childhood friend visited him before going to the ship.
"Heh, what are you doing Tobio? Getting sick at the day of the trip." Toujou Sae teased him.
He deadpanned at her and he put a cooling patch on his head.
"Just bring back some souvenirs, Sae." Tobio rolled his eyes and Sae giggled.
"Yes, yes, anything you say. I should humor the sick, just don't kick the bucket okay?" She smiled at him and Tobio sighed.
"Look at the time, I have to go. Take care Tobio, drink plenty of water and don't forget your medicine okay?" She waved goodbye.
"Sae! Wait..." He rummaged through his drawer and took out a bracelet of beads.
"My grandmother always gave me these. Says that it wards off bad luck and... Diseases." He smiled wryly and she laughed.
"Ironic, shouldn't you be the one wearing this?" Sae looked at it with an unimpressed gaze.
"Well, I don't want you to get sick. And different environments can be harsh. Or so I was told." He scratched his head and Sae smiled softly.
"Then I'll definitely have to bring back great souvenirs. Thanks Tobio, see you later!" She ran off and he sighed at her energy.
But that was the last time that he was able to witness that face, that smile.
Tobio walked towards his fridge and it was empty. "Huh... I guess I forgot to shop again. Convenience store dinner again." He slowly started walking to buy some dinner.
Having no energy to make one himself. Stopping at the side walk, he waited for the stoplight to turn green. When he suddenly saw a silhouette that looked just like her.
"S-Sae?" He rubbed his eyes and it wasn't just an illusion.
"How!? Didn't she disappear too? Sae! Sae! Fuck, come on you stupid light!" He glared at the stop light. Keeping an eye on the form of his friend.
After the light changed, he dashed like a madman and pushed everyone away.
"Sae! Wait! Is Sasaki and the others alive too!?" He ran after her. She suddenly turned in a corner and when he arrived there. He saw nothing but a construction site.
"I... I lost her. Was she even real? Am I losing my goddamned mind?" He was sweating bullets. Thinking that he was going insane due to the loss of his friend.
He slumped down, feeling much worse than before. And when he turned around, he saw one of the 2nd years that was a part of the trip. But there was something weird about him.
"H-hey... I knew that I wasn't crazy! How are you here? Do you know where Toujou Sae is?" Tobio was desperate.
What shocked him though, was there is a giant snake right beside the guy. And he suddenly had a twisted smirk on his face.
The snake lunged at him and he dodged with his instinct. "What the hell!?" He blinked dumbly at what was happening.
The snake's tongue slithered and he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Giving a laugh as he believed that his mind is definitely playing tricks on him.
It wasn't though, as it lunged at him another time. It clipped his cheek and he felt warm liquid drip onto his face.
"T-this isn't just some sick nightmare..." Tobio tensed up immediately.
The weird guy then suddenly ran at him. And his adrenaline pumping. Tobio slugged him on the face and ran away, post haste.
"Hah, hah, what the fuck is that? What's happening!?" He thought he was lucky that the street with people was nearby and he ran all the way to his house without stopping.
Huffing and puffing for air, he slumped down on his door after slamming it shut.
"This is just stress, I have been stressed for weeks." Tobio rationalized and he went to the bathroom to freshen up.
He also checked his cheek and the wound wasn't there anymore when he looked at the mirror. Solidifying his belief that he was just going crazy.
"I should just sleep." He went to his bed tiredly and plopped down.
"This is because I was thinking of the accident for an unhealthy amount of time. Yeah..." Tobio started to relax a bit, but the curtains on his windows opened up due to the wind and he saw an eye looking at him.
He jolted up immediately and looked out of the window. But there was nothing there. "I should go to a hospital..."
He looked around with paranoia. Sighing heavily at his situation. But when he looked up a bit, he saw a giant ass spider with a human's head.
"Fuck! What the fuck is that!?" He dropped down on his ass and immediately backed away.
The spider dropped on the ground and it smirked at him. "Found you." It uttered with a spine chilling grin on his face.
"I... I'm gonna die!" He immediately ran away and the spider started crawling towards him.
He tripped due to looking backwards and he got trapped by a wall. And his pupils dilated as the spider slowly got closer.
'Is this where it will end? Will I fucking die here?' His mind ran a mile a minute.
"Fuck! I don't want to die! Help! Something is attacking me! I have to find Sae! She's out there, I know it!" He started screaming.
The spider leaped at him and he closed his eyes, preparing for a world of pain.
He then heard a wet schlick as something splattered on his face.
"W-what?" He saw a small puppy with a horn and it stood in front of him protectively.
"D-did you kill it?" He furrowed his brows and the puppy nodded.
"Fuck, I really am going insane." He thought that dogs didn't nod at questions. And a puppy at that.
"You're not though, that little puppy is a sacred gear after all. And it's a pretty strong one too." Tobio heard someone from nowhere.
"S-show yourself! Who are you?" He looked around anxiously.
Another one of the monsters then attacked him again. This time, it was a large frog. Somebody took hold of its tongue that was about to take his head off and it got crushed into the floor.
"Me? I'm a friendly neighborhood dragon." Ise grinned at him.
"Idiot, you ruined it! You should have more presence and be cooler!" Vali smacked her and Ise flipped her off.
"Shut up you damned chuuni! You're going to embarrass Mordred!" Ise hissed at her.
"Hmph, this is how it's done, ahem... Hello mortal, curious aren't you? Well, feast your eyes on the descendant of the devil. Vali Lucifer, the white dragon empress." Vali hid her face slightly with her hand.
She was sporting some fingerless gloves and divine dividing appeared from her back.
Tobio looked at them weirdly and he heard a smack as Ise face palmed hard. "We were supposed to be mysterious Vali! Mordred would definitely want him to be our member."
"S-shut up, you have no class. As expected of a peasant." Vali faltered a bit, remembering that it was easier for them to convince Tobio to go with them if he is clueless.
"Did you just call yourself Lucifer? I really am going fucking insane aren't I?" Tobio slumped down and his dog snarled at them.
Tobio then heard footsteps and the quarrelling duo straightened up immediately.
"Canis Lycaon? Well met, Tobio Ikuse. Or should I say, Tobio Himejima? I am Mordred Pendragon, and I'll be telling you a story that should only exist in myths." Mordred appeared as they called for him.
The little puppy then whimpered upon seeing him. Feeling the evil coming from his soul.
