Chattering came from the doctors, as the young boy sat outside.
He knew what his mom was talking to the doctors about.
"Why can't my son use magic like me?" He thought. He may had been eight, but he wasn't stupid. He was different from others. While everybody else was having fun using cool magic tricks around the world, he was stuck just being ''normal''. His mom tried telling him that he was special, because of his difference, but that was a clear lie. Sure, he was different, but he was anything but special. He couldn't do anything athletic, he wasn't physically strong, nor could he fly in the night.
He was just regular.
Even the kids at school agreed, especially this one classmate he has says that he isn't anything special. He remembers the statement, vividly.
"John Lamont, your nothing more than an average human being. . . Remember your place."
The rain settled in as thunder struck in the background. A fold feeling replayed in John's heart as him and Clockwork glared at the robot, its deep-sea blue eyes flickering like a broken streetlight in the dark. What could he possibly do to stop this robot while being the magicless person he is? But a part of him felt slightly different too. Watching Clockwork thoughtlessly jump into the line of fire was almost frustrating.
Why waste your life on people you don't know? But then it started connecting the dots, as he recalled what said to Siren a couple of days ago, when he answered that question.
What makes us equal?
"Our ability to choose when to get involved." John said aloud.
Clockwork glanced towards him, his horn glowing brighter than ever. "The hell are you going on about?" He asked.
John simply chuckled as he looked towards Clockwork, and grinned. "Wondering how much you can keep up." He replied. Although John was scared deeply, pushing his egotism up to the extreme makes it slightly less stressful on his heart, as he chose to get involved.
"This will be a piece of cake." Clockwork said as he dropped his axe and cracked his knuckles.
The two walked forward towards the robot.
The robot's eyes glanced at them as it leaned back preparing to attack.
John dashed towards the robot at full speed, as it did the same.
The robot opened its mouth as black ball of energy formed, as energy began forming around it.
Clockwork stuck his hands out as orange rings formed around him, as a shockwave pushed onto him. This was his magic technique- Time Dilation; If he can see you, he's capable of control the time around you for as long as he can hold his arms out. This ability seems strong on paper, however, requires extreme knowledge and awareness of three things: The Law of Acceleration, The law of Physics, and the inverse square law. These three are the main components of how to use Time magic effectively.
The robot froze in place as John threw a swift right hook towards the robot's jaw as it rolled into a nearby fire hydrant.
John quickly ran after it as he sprinted at full speed, not wanting to lose momentum.
The robot stood up as Clockwork froze it in place once again. The robot suddenly started twitching as it stared at clockwork and started punching the area around it. After moments of during this, the robot broke out of the time manipulation
The robot dashed towards John and threw a right hook which he blocked. He was confused by how it escaped so easily, when it worked effortlessly just moments before. He lifted his leg up as he threw another sharp kicked that the robot managed to grab onto.
Robot started twitching again, but before it analyzes became complete, Clockwork ran up and drop-kicked the robot into a nearby building.
He then grabbed John and chucked him at the robot at full speed.
Using the acceleration to his advantage, John kicked the robot in its face as he used his other foot into pushing it into the ground
Clockwork then jumped up and stomped on the robot causing a small crater to form beneath them. Each step destroying more and more of the ground surrounding them.
Just as Clockwork stopped, the robot began twitching again as it jumped up and put its hands up.
It dashed towards Clockwork and threw out an axe kick at him, but he quickly grabbed it, and began squeezing its leg.
John quickly jumped up and roundhouse kicked the robot, sending it out of Clockwork's hand.
He then ran after it in hot pursuit as ran behind the robot and kicked it up.
Clockwork leaped up into the air and spiked the robot down, as they fell and landed onto the ground.
"Not so hard now, is it?" John said with a smirk as he popped his neck.
Just as he said, John got hit by a right hook by the robot as a back tooth came flying out.
Clockwork threw a punch, but the robot dodged it and landed on his hand.
It launched a shockwave directly out of the palm of its hands and pressed its metallic hands up against Clockwork as the shockwave pressed him against the concrete. The pressure slowly trying to crush him under the shattered and distorted concrete beneath them. It was as if the planet was stomping onto his body, as he grunted, while trying to fight the pressure, but it being too overwhelming for him to fight against.
With haste, John grabbed the robot's arm and swung him into a nearby alleyway as he helped Clockwork backup. "So much for keeping up huh?" He said as he sat Clockwork down as he rushed into the alleyway.
The robot twitch again as it developed a fighting stance, waiting for John to strike.
He accepted the challenge and got into his fighting stance as well.
John threw a right hook as the robot ducked down and landed an uppercut to his stomach.
Blood spat out of his mouth as he slammed his fists into the robot's back and prying it off him as it tried to maul his hip with its sharp metal teeth.
The robot's body twitched once more as it glowed, and the floor began melting around it. It suddenly started changing its arm to something else again as the material slowly shifted.
John without even thinking dashed at the robot, with sheer focus entering his body, he threw a thoughtless punch, one flowing under the momentum of his own soul and mind. There was no longer a feeling of stress, fear, anxiousness, or even arrogance, just the feeling of determination and the will to survive.
John thrusted his fist into the robot's face as a faint aura elapsed around him. With each punch growing faster and faster, staggering the robot with each primitive strike, as more particles shot out with every blow connecting, as they slowly hovered around him.
Slowly, he was starting to push into a realm no soul has adventured up to this point.
John was developing the Mindscape
The Mindscape is when the body has pushed his body beyond its natural limitations. For example, if you get into a fight and you get hit hard enough that your body can't move anymore, your mind will temporarily sacrifice itself to focus on only the fight and surviving. With each blow that connects within the fifteen second time limit, the timer will reset as your body slowly pushes past the boundaries of time, as you feel your strength going what will soon be your ever growing prime. It's as if your traveling into the future and entering your future self's body.
Pieces of metal swung around as the robot stopped moving entirely.
John didn't stop as he continued to rapidly punch it as more and more scrap came off of it.
Clockwork could only watch as scrap flung near his feet as the sound of fists fitting metal echoed throughout the alley. The robot's glowing eyes slowly resided as the high feeling of divinity washed over John.
His fists were covered in oil, when he finally stopped, as his heart ringed in his ears.
His heart sounded like a drum, being beaten for the performance of a big solo.
Clockwork leaned over and grabbed John by the shoulder as he patted his oil covered stomach. "Hey man, I think you got em." He said, clearly joking with him.
John didn't say a word. He was too absorbed in this new feeling; it was as if he was another plane of existance entirely, one where only the sweet, soft and somber sound of his own voice could echo free from this ecliptic after-feeling.
For the one minute and fourteen seconds john activated the Mindscape, he had ascended beyond the realm of Micheal, Siren, and if he kept going, he had the potential to rival some of the best fighters in the world.
But one thing was for sure, that within Newland, Alabama, John was undoubtedly the strongest fighter for the short time he accessed it.
But just as John and Clockwork walked away, the sound of rattling filled their ears.
