Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Noah's system

Noah felt serene for some unfamiliar reasons which terrified him. He felt like... like... he has lost his feelings,

yes his emotions.

A person first reaction when waking up from such a place will be confusion and flashback then getting terrified as he/she looks around frantically.

Yet, the moment Noah remember what happened and how he ended up here he felt just a slight surprise.

"I was used for an experiment huh? What a pity I still don't understand how did I end up here?

Is this a different world? What were those animals which their part was used on me? How comes I am feeling like I can healthier ?" Noah mumbled to no one in specific as his brow furrowed, exhibiting a look of unrest which was instantly replaced with a serene expression.

Just then, the door split open as Chris Cooper stepped in.

"Aaaah" he exclaimed in shock before quickly adding, "I thought your body will need a day or two to digest those high-level energies before you could stand up but strangely you awoke ahead of time.

Well, that is not bad too. Now I think we have to do the next test." Saying so Christ walked to a tray which was on top of a table and picked a gun-like syringe.

Stepping cautiously towards Noah. He said, "Let me take blood from you for some research and I…"

"Where am I?" With an inquisitive look, Noah asked, not even bothering about the injection after all, he need to figure out his environment first right?

"You're in my lab."

"How comes? Is this earth?"

"Well, I don't know if this place can still be call earth with what is now happening though." Chris shook his head and proceed to move closer towards Noah. Just then, the door slid open as one of the previous men who handed the briefcase to Chris rushed in with dishevelled hair.

"Professor Chris! Zo… zombies…there are zombies in the lab. The guards, Oscar and Durk have all been…be…been turn to it. Your dog too is now a mutant as I… aaaarg!!!"

Suddenly the man's quivering voice changed to a scream of pain as he pull his left hand sleeve . It was then Chris notice a bloody mark left by a human shape teeth on the hand.

His expression changed.

"Not good! Hey kiddo, do you wanna see your parents once more?

I will be frank with you. Earth has changed, the apocalypse has descended and everywhere is in chaos. Get out of that bed let's leave here!

Only if I am alive can I continue with my research."

Saying so, Chris rush towards one of the computer and plug in a flash drive then type in his password before pressing other words.

He was trying to download all his research data and receipt.

Looking back he saw the man with saliva dripping from his mouth with his iris rolled up, revealing only his white eyeball.

With staggering movement, the zombie instead of moving to attack Chris opted for Noah instead which left Chris confused.

Noah saw this movement and couldn't help but be shocked.

Wasn't this only possible in movies like 'Residents Evil'? How the hell was it live now? Without thinking much he jumps down from his bed and grabs a chair close to the bed.

'Huh? How comes to this chair is so weightless?' He thought inwardly as he instinctively swing it towards the zombie and what happened next left him standing with mouth agape.

The chair made from strong wood shatter from the impact while sending the zombie crashing right back into the door. But that was not enough to kill a zombie and Noah knew it.

Without wasting time he picked an operation knife from the tray which Chris took the gun syring and rushed to the zombie.

'He is already dead. I am just relieving his body from the pain.' Calming his nerves for this will be the first time he will be killing a human, albeit an already half-dead one without conscious thought.

Seeing the zombie about to stand up, Noah hurriedly raise the knife which he clench tightly and brought it down in full force in an awkward posture and stab it thrice into the zombie's brain. He stopped when the slimy white fluid spilt out of the brain.

Just then a bizarre phenomenon took place which nearly terrified him to death.

"Whatta…f*ck…" Noah, startled by the hologram which was floating in front of him moved back instantly only for the holographic words to still be in his front.

"Can someone tell me what is going on?" He felt confused. Yeah, he might have little to no emotions, but that won't stop him from feeling it.

"It isn't only floating in from of you. Literally, everyone who kills a zombie, mutant or evolves by battling with a primitive weapon gets to experience such development. It is said that the image helps to increase the user's physical aspects and some scholars even speculate that when the user reaches a higher level he might get a chance to unlock powerful magical powers." Chris who already finished downloading his data put his flash drive into his breast pockets before walking towards the section of the wall with two metal axes hung in an 'X' style and a fire extinguisher below it.

He removed the two axes and threw one for Noah while holding one. With a grim and sombre tone, he let out, "Now that the world rule is survival of the fittest. We need to change our ways of logic. Let's part ways from here. You have a family to save and so do I. I have to be rational and can't bring you a burden with me even though " are my test subject." soon as Chris said so, he moved towards the door which opens automatically.

Halting there he said to Noah, "Don't make me regret this. You are my masterpiece and I wish you can transcend my expectations." With that, he moved out.

Noah was awakened from his stupor.

"My family! If truly this is happening all over the place I gotta get home." Without wasting time, he moves to the door and steps out too.

The corridor was totally silent and Noah couldn't even see Prof Chris.

Without bothering about it, he looked around.

"How the hell can I know the way out? Guess I have to follow my intuition." Saying so, he took the left side, dressed in his white patient clothes which had a bit of blood stain from the fight with the zombie just now.

Just then, three zombies, dressed in black and white, security clothes walked out of one room opposite him.

As soon as the saliva-dripping zombies spot him, they growl and stumble towards him.

"Like seriously? Did I take the wrong direction?"
