After saying this, Eric put down his wine glass, picked up his coat, and stood up to leave.
Scarcely had he stepped outside and pulled open the car door than a call from Maggie came through. As he slid into the car, he answered tersely, "What is it?"
Clutching her mobile, Maggie queried, "Where are you? I need to find you for something."
Glancing at the sun, Eric replied with a frown, "Did we not agree to meet only at night and not in the day?"
He had endured countless taunts from wealthy young heirs for choosing a divorced woman as his girlfriend. Yet, he was unwilling to give up her charm in bed. Despite the ridicule, he had solidified her position as his girlfriend.
However, he was unwilling to see her in broad daylight. If his band of friends were to see them together, he could expect another round of mockery, a pressure he could hardly bear.
Maggie glanced at Eric's villa, and said, "I'm already at your doorstep. Could you come back?"
