Once they had left, the guests began whispering about Alla, speculating about how she could have gotten involved with such people. Alla ignored them, turning to Maggie and Vincent who were approaching her.
"Alla, who was that?" Maggie asked, worry evident in her eyes. Her intuition told her those people were no good.
Alla smiled and patted her hand, "That was the president of the Roman Corporation. He came to get an important contract file from me." She spoke loudly on purpose, knowing Maggie's wedding dress was fitted with a small microphone.
Upon hearing her explanation, the guests started to whisper again, this time in awe of Alla's connections with the CEO of the Roman Corporation. Vincent's relatives, having mostly lived in the outskirts of A CITY, were not acquainted with many influential figures. But they had heard of A CITY's richest man. Alla's explanation was meant to dispel their prejudice, preventing them from thinking less of Maggie because of her friends.
