Day 1 part 2
While naughty children sat in their corners, their delectable parents disappeared as they went out for their hunts, their daily jobs, but while their anger was fortuitous, they failed or more like refused to believe… to believe that there was something worse out there in the snow… hiding… waiting... Starving… but as hunger and tension arose, the people hired aids from a foreign places. But while those cheap mercenaries or low rank adventures swept the lands. Those that came back told tales of monsters pitched in many colors but none so horrid as those screeching horrors!
Kipley short POV:
[I told you! To stay in the station! What were you doing in the car! Rebecca!] yelled Kipley angrily as they pulled up to the station
[I'm sorry… Kipley it's just… it's just I wanted to see…] replied Rebecca quietly with her head down
[what… what did you want to see so badly that you almost got yourself killed for it…] replied Kipley
[I wanted to see…if my mom was still… out there…] replied Rebecca
While breathing deeply, Kipley place her hand on the child, while she heard over her comms
[this is alpha team, come in Kipley, this is alpha team]
[this is Kipley, what do you need… alpha team?]
[we are hovering over the target hut as we speak, but there is no sign of these monsters you told us about…] replied the team leader
[you don't see them... What about your scanners?] replied Kipley
[negative mam… nothing… but the mayor has asked us to investigate the hut… so we are going to drop a team off… but before we do, we would like to hear your advice on the matter.] replied the team leader
[Don't! Don't drop a team off! Look if you really want my advice... Then just blow the whole thing up from where you're at! And whatever you do, don't you dare land anywhere near that hut!] replied Kipley
[understood mam…] replied the gyrocopter team leader
But while the men set fire to the hut with their explosives, they never knew that they themselves were in range…
While Kipley patted the head of little Rebecca, screams of horror appeared out of her comms! With exploding metal and dying pleading, Kipley rose up to enter another room while she gestured to a fellow officer nearby to watch the child.
[alpha team come in… alpha team…] replied Kipley panicking
[...]
Unfortunately, only static could be heard… but then moments before turning off the comm, she heard it… the sounds of mind-numbing screeching!
Alpha team short POV:
[sirs are we really going to blow it all up? The mayor's orders were clear!] said the co pilot
[To hell with his orders! People are dead or missing and yet he wants to risk more people's lives! No! Not under my watch! Set it ablaze! Let the fire consume those monsters that threaten our home!] yelled the man in charge
But while the cabin by the lake kindled and burned, the men turned to leave, when a hail of acid pelted their two wingmen ships, with rutters melting and windows splintered, they fell from the sky like dying birds! All while the led ship hovered in shock!
[what is going on! The scanner didn't pick up any movement just a few seconds ago!] screamed one of the pilots
[who cares about that right now! We got two birds down and…]
As if interrupting the leader's commands, the tail end of their gyrocopter suddenly fell apart, like something sliced it clean off! But while they screamed mayday, mayday just like all the others, they crashed hard into a burning forest! Within their black silt that coated the air, the white snow rained heavily down, for as the survivors crawled from their wreck, they were met with a horror they weren't ready for.
For when their friends… their colleagues… and lovers were dragged away into the forest pits, the leader forced his way up from the hot metal that surrounded him, only to hear a backdrop of horrid screams of those he led! While injured and bleeding the man turned around to check on his co-pilot, only to see a man impaled onto the floor with sharpened metal that was coated in shrapnel glass!
Knowing he was dead, the man turned around just to stumble upon a lonely gun that just so happened to be by his feet! But with rage filling his heart, the man roared into the air! As if pleading to some god… but as his pleas went unheard, he felt the wind around him change! The light in his eyes distorted… the crushing of snow under something heavy, filled his ears… as the trees creaked and waned in motion around him! The remains of his copter moving and scraping…
For he knew he was surrounded…. For he knew what was going to happen… for as his men silenced screams were but a distance sound… The shivers in his eyes were followed by a cold feeling in his back! But while he could hear the scratching, the clawing, and the nawing, he could feel the stench of them coming... for as he stared at that shimmering light that revealed a monster hideous. The man took one final look at his gun… And he fired one single round…
With smoke rising high into the sky, the mayor knew what came of his men… he knew that they had failed… knowing something evil still lurked in their ancestral forest. The mayor issued a most heinous order to a forest thriving city!
[A lock down order is to be given! Did you hear me! I also don't want to see anyone being out past sundown either!] yelled the mayor at his management team
[But sir if we do that… the people might...] replied a lonely servant
[You think I don't know that... But what choice do we have! The wall is in shambles! We lost half of our gyrocopters! And worst of all we got people missing and many more dead!] interrupted the mayor angrily
[but what do we tell the people?] question one of the servants
[you tell them this… that there is an unknown monster rampaging in the forest, and we are doing everything we can to put a stop to it!] replied the mayor
[just monster sir and not monsters? I believe Kipley stated there were dozens of these creatures!] replied a servant
[I know what she reported! But any talk about a monster horde now would be a terrible idea! The people just regained some closure after the green death rolled up and destroyed their homes! If they find out that there is another army of freaks out there… we might just have complete anarchy!] screamed the mayor
[Look... I'm just trying to maintain order… Ya that it… maintain…] said the mayor through gritted teeth.
But while the mayor passed out his mandate, the aliens of the forest had their own meeting
[Haha… Blacky I can't believe you're so ugly that humans would rather…]
[shut it! Collins! I didn't think that humans would be so weak willed! I thought for sure he was more of a warrior! But I guess humans are just that inferior to us in this aspect!] stated Blacky boldly
[Anyway, Collins, how did you capture your quota so quickly?] asked Blacky as he had his men drag the surviving humans into their nest.
[well, it was actually quite easy… but going back might be a problem...] replied Collins
[why is that?] questions Blacky
[well… look I'm going to level with you, the mission was practically an impossible feat for me… you should have been the one to have gone, since you can go all invis like…but anyway...]
[we only captured them because as father put it, they were doing night survival training... Or something along that… either way father has decided that we are going to save the dwarf city for last...] said Collins
[Oh! Then who are we attacking next once this city falls…} asked Blacky
[well… from what father has told me, we're going to strike at the heart of the elven villages hidden in the center of this forest! Of course, once Ilzec gets back with his quota… which remains me… for someone as strong as him... He is for sure taking his sweet time!] replied Collins
[Don't worry about him, sure he is new, but he's strong! I'm sure he is just looking for something big out there… but then this leads to another question… what about those tree treants or whatever they call themselves.] replied Blacky
[Aw! Those guys… Ya father said we are to ignore them!] replied Collin
[ignore them, why?] replied Blacky
[well as father puts it, we will gain nothing from attacking nonorganic creatures… he said we will only suffer losses and gain nothing even if we win in a war with them.] replied Collin
[I see... That make sense… and hey Collins…] replied Blacky
[Ya?]
[Is this the new tunnel you made to enter the nest? Why did you build it going under the lake?]
But before Collins could even reply, the unstable earth crumbled beneath their feet as they fell into a crystal caravan
Meanwhile back in the dwarven city
[what do you mean you can't find them!] yelled a dwarven man
[sir… I don't know what to say… just this morning only 30 of our students made it back to the city!] answered the instructor in charge of the military recruits
[well 6 people just don't vanish into thin air! Send out a search team!] demand the dwarven man
[sir we already dispatched them a few hours ago... They said the only thing they could find of the missing recruits was their gear!] replied the instructor
[and?] replied the dwarven man expecting more
[And the only suspicious thing they found was that there were drag marks! Sir you don't think it was one of the humans…] said the instructor
[enough! Don't talk about unconfirmed things like that out loud again! Do you hear me!] interrupted the dwarven man
[umm… YES SIR!] replied the instructor
[Umm… what are you?] said the dwarven man as he stared into a flash photo of a sharp tail belonging to something… because unfortunately for him, the photo was cut short and only captured the creature's tail end,
[damn those environmentalists… Well at least their tree cam was finally useful for something…] thought the Dwarven man as he stared at the photo.
