In the large city of Winter in the year of 3024, there sat Jay Horn in front of a small television screen watching the news talk about his latest victim in an old abandoned, rusted, and half broken down warehouse.
"Well, would you look at that? It seems like I'm getting a bit more famous now. Even my name "Hornet" Is getting more popular in certain talks I walk by and hear just randomly on the street."
He thought while watching the news on the small screen in front of him.
"And this is the end of the news for tonight at 334 News & more. Come back tomorrow morning at 7:00 am for updates about tomorrow."
Jay turned off the small television in front of him and got up from a small chair he was sitting in for the past hour watching the news. "Maybe I should go out and eat..I mean since my face hasn't been revealed yet or caught I'll be fine for at least maybe 7-8 more months right?"
Jay decided to go get some food from by a dinner nearby his warehouse he always goes to. After 5 minutes of walking he enters the dinner and sits down at a open table and ordered his usual 2 Pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast and a cup of coffee.
The waiter walks over to Jay and strikes up a conversation.
"So have you heard or watched the news lately?" Asked the waiter, and Jay responded "Well, I have watched the news and I heard there's some weird things going on out there like some type of new ray gun technology that civilians could own with a special license for it. Other than that I also heard of that "hornet" guy all over the news from the past few hours."
"Yeah man it's getting worse and worse out there every day man. I just don't see the point of being a serial killer, and well I guess I can see the point of owning a ray gun. It is pretty cool of a idea but for civilians to own it at all you know?" The waiter said confidently while refilling Jay's cup of coffee and starts to walk away afterwards.
Jay sat there and sipped on his coffee for a moment and thought for a second while looking up at the television in the corner of the dinner playing a soccer game. "Hm... well I guess I should be offended by that and probably should kill him since he doesn't see the art behind of each kill I do, yet there's also a good point he has about it all. However, for me? Well I don't have a choice between if I want to or not. It's the only way I make any money at all after all."
Jay got up and paid the bill. He was walking out of the dinner when he found a newspaper in a small black iron box with openings for newspapers with a text that had caught his eye "sign up for the W.D.A today, we are accepting anyone regardless of whether or not they have been properly trained. We are looking for more help in both field action, lab work, and paper work." He put the newspaper in his pocket as he walks out after reading that, after a few minutes he decides to try it out and see what happens since he knows nobody has his face, or prints yet.
14 hours have passed by and Jay went into the W.D.A building about signing up to go into field work.
"So what all do I need to do in order to get this position?" Jay asked passionately and patiently.
"Well we just need to run a background check, a drug test, and we need some other information about your personal life just to have it on record." She responds calmly while having a smile on her face to welcome new recruits.
"Hm, alright well just contact me whenever everything is done and I guess we can talk whenever that drug test comes in and background check is finished right?" Jay said to the lady taking his application.
"That does work for me, it should be in within a week or two business days. I'll call you once it all comes in and we can go from there about your application."
A few days go by and Jay has been just reading books, sitting around waiting for the call, and doing jobs.
"It should be around here." He looks around for a few moments and finds his victim on the street entering a hotel. "Perfect, I'll just follow her inside and wait until there's a perfect chance to kill." Jay followed the women into the hotel and waited 30 minutes before going behind her to gag her.
He gags the women who had just walked into a room with the door open.
"Shut up and stop fighting!" Jay expresses the sentence as upmost importance. "MMNNM MMM MMNMMNMN" the women said attempting to break free from Jay's grip but failing to do before losing consciousness. "Finally the bitch lost conscious, now I just finish the job and send the photo like always and then maybe I'll go back to the di-." Suddenly Jay hears his phone ring in his pocket.
"What the? Nobody should be calling at this time thought?" He looks down at his phone and sees it's the W.D.A calling him back about the application, drug test, and background check.
"Oh shit, if you had been able to hold on just 30 seconds more you might've been able to live tonight...oh well I need the money anyways."
He answers the phone, "Yes? Is this about the background check and drug test?" He says first.
"Ah yes, "Jay... Horn" right? I am just calling to inform you that your application has been accepted and you will start tomorrow morning at 8 am exactly. In fact we already have you on a case which you can start investigating at 10 am to give you a few hours to get use to the agency, and the building layout to help you with future cases." The guy over the phone said calmly, but showing a certain amount of interest and details into his words.
"Ah, that's amazing. I'll definitely be there at 8." Jay responded to the guy over the phone with a small grin looking down at the women who's slowly waking up and gaining consciousness back. "Hey uh, I gotta go. I'm actually kinda busy at the moment." Jay said
"Alright well have a good night, and remember to wake up early enough to get here at 8." He said and hung up the phone.
Jay looks down at the women and takes out a knife covered by a python's venom and stabs the women in the chest and puts the knife up. Jay takes out his phone and took a few pictures to send to the client as showing the job was done with. Jay walks away from the hotel and goes to eat at the dinner as it's still open even late at night.
The sky was filled with dark clouds yet small stars peaking through passing light onto the sky above Jay as he walks into the dinner to end his day and thinking about tomorrow and the following days and nights to come.
