He could make his skin somewhat resistant to damage with the power of the ghosts inside the cursed sword.
But with him allowing the sword to slash him, no resistance was felt when he cut his own wrist with the cursed sword.
Cutting a major vein in his body, of course, blood began to burst out the second the sword slashed it.
However, instead of a sight where Farrel's blood began to splatter everywhere and dye the ground around him red, another scene happened after Farrel finished his chant.
The blood that was supposed to splatter everywhere suddenly moved on its own as it gathered in one place.
And it was none other than the cursed sword itself.
After slashing his own wrist, Farrel kept the sword close to the open wound, letting his fresh blood be absorbed by the cursed sword that had dozens of ghosts living inside it.
The more of his blood left his body, the more Farrel felt his body weakening despite the enhancement of the dozens of ghosts from the sword.
However, in an instant before the tiger could make its last final jump before pouncing right on top of Farrel, the strength that Farrel had lost suddenly bounced up.
Rebounding even higher than before as Farrel felt his body full of energy. A wild surging power that wasn't there before.
Using a spell that he would never use in normal circumstances, Farrel used his own blood as a sacrifice to empower the ghosts inside the cursed sword.
The ghosts didn't know what happened to them, but with the spell's guidance and Farrel's blood as the catalyst, the dozens of ghosts living inside the cursed sword suddenly felt a euphoric feeling.
An overwhelming sense of power enveloped their whole spiritual bodies, giving them the sense that they were the rulers of the world.
With their surge in aura, so did the enhancement that Farrel got from the cursed sword.
His weakened body was no more as he felt all the strength in the world gathered in his body.
His head which felt as light as a feather, on the verge of fainting, suddenly regained its bearing as Farrel took a firm grip on himself.
Seeing the tiger finally make that last jump that it needed to reach him, Farrel also decided to act.
Although he currently felt overwhelming power in his body, Farrel knew the difference in power between his current body and the tiger.
He was the one who cast the spell on himself, he knew that although it felt like he could defeat anything if he wanted to, the truth would be different as his body currently only felt euphoric due to the sudden significant increase in power.
So despite the strong urge to slash his blade against the tiger and clash with the giant head-on, Farrel resisted the urge and instead turned his body around and continued running away.
With the sacrifice of his blood, the strength that he got from the cursed sword multiplied.
Enhancing his strength about threefold as a single kick of his feet was able to launch him a dozen meters away.
About the same distance that the tiger could achieve after releasing its energy-increasing roar.
With such speed, Farrel instantly got away from the tiger's area of attack as he kept dashing in that certain direction that he had been aiming for from the start.
Having his prey slipping away from him once more, the tiger released another roar.
But instead of just its mouth showing its annoyance, the tiger's claw moved once again this time.
But instead of aiming towards the running Farrel, the tiger swiped at a nearby tree, aiming towards the top part where the trunk was thinner than the one at the bottom.
Without a sliver of resistance, the thinner trunk was cut away from its main body.
And with the rest of the paw continued swiping, the trunk was sent flying in the direction of the claw's swipe.
And that direction was none other than the direction of the prey that kept running away from him.
The large tree trunk that could easily break all of Farrel's bones with its sheer size and weight flew at a tremendous speed toward him.
Farrel was already on his last leg with so much of his blood had been used to cast his earlier hex and the blood sacrifice.
Despite the surging power from the blood sacrifice, Farrel needed to keep his focus on his own body as he would faint, or rather, die if he ever lost control of his own spell in such a critical condition.
So even when the reverberating crack the tree trunk caused when it was forcefully broken away from its body resounded throughout the forest, Farrel wasn't aware of it as he kept on running.
He just kept on running and running as his eyes locked in a certain direction.
The direction of where the tiger used to stand before they began their game of cat and mouse.
He couldn't see anything before because of the tiger's huge body, but now, he could see a cave, large enough to fit 3 people walking side by side and tall enough to fit a single person.
Which was very huge for him, but was very small for the giant tiger that was as tall as two adults standing on top of each other.
However, Farrel didn't think about the size of the cave at all or whether it could shield him from the tiger.
What took his attention from the very start, when he closed his eyes right in front of the giant tiger, was the fact that the dense negative energy that leaked to hundreds of meters away originated from that cave.
He only got his eyes on that cave, and nothing else was going on inside his mind other than reaching that cave.
However, if he stayed running in that course, then the speeding tree trunk would definitely hit him, causing him to receive a shock that would definitely break his concentration and cause his spell to go haywire.
Not to mention the enormous physical damage he would receive from being crushed by it.
Fortunately though, Farrel wasn't alone.
"Farrel! Jump to the left!"
Joy's voice entered directly into Farrel's head, making the latter hear it despite all of his attention being put into keeping his leg running.
Farrel instantly recognized Joy's voice.
And even though he didn't know why the boy told him to do it, he trusted the boy who had made a binding deal with him and had their souls connected with each other.
Not wasting a second, Farrel jumped left.
A thunderous boom resounded the second Farrel jumped away from his prior location as the large tree trunk landed on the ground where Farrel was supposed to be if not for Joy's direction.
'Just a little bit more…'
The adrenaline in his body kept on pumping, tensing his whole body as Farrel struggled to keep his head looking forward.
The enhancement of the sword helped him a lot, but he simply had lost too much blood and the only thing keeping his body moving was the supernatural power that his spell and the cursed sword provided.
But the goal was right in front of him and Farrel was only a few dashes away from reaching it.
And when he was finally only a jump away from reaching the cave, Farrel breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ha…."
However, that single sigh was the biggest mistake that Farrel could make right now.
With the slightest bit of tension released from his body, all of the alertness and focus that had been forcefully kept in his body burst out along with it.
His head suddenly started leaning to the side as the light began leaving his eyes.
Farrel didn't even realize that his body started collapsing onto the ground as he had lost sense of his own body.
And in that moment where Farrel had been focusing only on his destination, he once again failed to notice the tiger had finally caught up to him.
The moment Farrel's body was on the verge of shutting down, the tiger landed right behind him, its mouth opening wide as it prepared to bite off half of Farrel's whole body.
And that was exactly what would have happened if a certain boy didn't intervene.
Using the lesson that Farrel had taught him to release his energy, Joy leaped out of Farrel's body and exerted all of his might shouting,
"STOP!!!"
All of his energy had been focused on shouting those words.
And he aimed the word towards the tiger that was on its way to biting Farrel's body in half.
Joy's voice instantly entered the tiger's ear before it could bite down.
The moment Joy's voice and energy entered the tiger's ears, the tiger suddenly stopped moving as it stared at the prey in front of him weirdly.
The annoyance and hunger that he felt when looking at the human in front of him disappeared as a hint of friendliness was reflected in his eyes.
Joy didn't know whether his ability would work as well as before considering he saw what happened with Farrel's hex earlier being nullified nonchalantly with a single roar.
So he knew that Farrel shouldn't- couldn't waste this chance.
"FARREL! WAKE UP! YOU ARE NOT SAFE YET!!!"
Joy shouted once more, doing it as hard as he did when he told the tiger to stop.
His last bit of energy was spent shouting the word stop, but the intense emotion within him was still delivered onto his human friend through the connection between them.
And Farrel, who was already half-foot into totally losing his consciousness, suddenly jerked his eyes wide open as he stared into the mouth of the cave.
Knowing that he wasn't inside yet, Farrel called upon the power from his cursed sword for the final time as he kicked his feet against the ground as hard as he could.
Launching his body from the ground and went straight into the cave before the light in his eyes finally went out and his world turned to complete darkness.
