Chapter 54 - Shortcut

"Where shall we go next, Young lady Genevieve?" Moland inquired as he steered the horse-drawn carriage.

"We will head to the nearest town, Moland. I want to learn more about al-Syiaq from the people there," Genevieve replied, determination evident on her face.

"Very well, Young lady Genevieve. I'll follow the compass directions," Moland said, adjusting the carriage's course.

Genevieve smiled and entered the carriage. She and Quer sat on plush seats in the middle of the carriage, while Moland occupied the driver's seat, controlling the carriage. The carriage was tightly covered with thick black fabric, preventing anyone from seeing inside.

The carriage began to move, propelled by two strong horses. Four guards on horseback rode in front of the carriage, while four more were behind it. They were Count Welas's personal guards, assigned to escort Genevieve to the forest's border.
