'Why am I even here?' Kei thinks to himself as bright light flashes into eyes.
He was giving a press conference. Steph was mainly handling all the questions and answers regarding all the matters as he was the only one who attended press conference but he also started to become overwhelmed with questions because this was also his first time giving an interview at a press conference.
Usually low level hunters don't get much fame because they are considered disposable. They start to get fame when they enter rank-B or higher but the reason Kei, Steph and the group is getting so much attention is because they cleared a B-rank dungeon which usually would have taken a lot of effort and sacrifices from the guilds. But here a group which wasn't even a guild defeated a B-ranked gate. Guilds members would always follow the rules and that is the reason they are so efficient. They also have a good level of armour on them and trust in each other which is another reason why they are so good. But here is a group who was formed with low level hunters only who came together only to make money so this proves that they wouldn't have enough coordination among them.
Steph was getting a little tired because of the interview. He hadn't had the time to rest for long because as soon as he exited the dungeon he was bombarded with lights and camera and he only had time to rest when they were moving to a hall where the press conference was held. 'Maybe I should have held the press conference at another time.' then he sighs.
A hand raises and Steph chooses the reporter to ask the question and he asks "Thank You! My question is here for everyone. Who did you think had contributed the most in this raid?" Steph became a little nervous because he knew that Kei wanted to keep himself as a secret. So to ask for his opinion he turned his towards Kei. Kei understood what Steph was asking and shook his head in negative. Steph was going to answer the reporter that they couldn't give an answer to that question but before he could speak all the other group members had already given the answer.
"It's Kei Nakamura for sure." All the group members said this at the same time. "The way he led us in the battle was absolutely amazing." a member who was in the second group said. "Even though his plan was risky and crazy at first thought." A healer said this but continued "He became the only reason that plan was successful, I am pretty sure if were to be any other person they would have not been able to achieve it." Everyone in the press conference except for the group was shocked hearing this because they thought that Kei hadn't done anything in the dungeon that was the reason he was so quiet but the reality was totally opposite to that.
Then a reporter asked even without raising her hand "What do you have to say about this Mr.Kei? " Steph became a little defensive and was going to reject the question but Kei stopped him and began to say "Thank you for your question Ms.Reporter. Thank you everyone for praising me and giving me the opportunity." then after a short pause he begins to say. "This is the first time I am giving an interview so please forgive me if I am nervous. Now, I think that I only did what I felt was right but I would like to thank my group members who were supportive of me and followed my plans even though it was risky as mentioned before." All the group members smiled at this.
Then he continued "Because of my plan some of the group members also died and I would always remember them and I thank them for everything they have done. If it weren't for them I don't think we would have succeeded in clearing the dungeon. So I hope that you all will appreciate them and not me." for a few moments everyone was silent and Kei started to become a little nervous and began to think that he had said something wrong but then everyone started to clap and he left a sigh of relief.
Steph stared at Kei with wide eyes 'That cunning bastard, he took away the attention of the public towards the hunter who had deceased instead of him while increasing his reputation. From where did a bastard like came from.' Kei noticed Steph was staring wide eyed at him so he understood that Steph understood his trick so he passed a smile at him. Steph sighed and thought 'I want to retire.' and smiled back at Kei.
Kei started to think 'First of all, thank you all for this and I swear that I didn't have any attention to use you all but I couldn't think of anything on the spot.' "Phew" 'I can't reveal myself yet because I am going to train a lot and I can't get distracted or disturbed by anything or anyone.'
Then after answering a few questions, the press conference ended. Everyone started to leave and Kei was also going to do that but he encountered Vector Hynes while he was leaving.
"Hello there Mr. Nakamura. I am Vector Hynes from the Celestial Vanguard, I hope you have heard of me." Vector said this as he looked down on Kei. He was 3-4 feet taller than Kei and he tried to use his height as an advantage to create a domineering aura around him but Kei only looked up and narrowed his eyes as if he didn't feel any fear.
Kei then said to him "I am sorry, if you are here to recruit me then this is not the right time please come later." then he started to walk away and begin to think 'Even though a guild which is like Celestial Vanguard can provide me with a lot of resources I can't join them because they will only become a hindrance to me if I can't use Morphy. So it is better now to reject them ." but Kei stopped in his tracks as soon as he heard this from Vector. "Then shall we discuss about how you were the only who managed to come out of the D-ranked Dungeon at that time."
Kei turned himself to see a smile on Vector's face and he began to speak "Guild Leader would like to meet you. NOW!"
