Woodlands Biome, OverWorld
Midnight
Walking. Waiting. Wondering. Hungry and tired. Evacuating the Kingdom seemed a little too easy. But for those who managed to escape were now left wondering if they'd ever be able to return to the Kingdom. It was their home. It was their safe place.
Twelve blockheads were all walking through the dark and spooky Woodlands Biome. Nothing but oak trees and birch trees were visible for miles on end. As of now, there wasn't any clear sign of safety.
Steve, Alex, and Annabeth were walking next to each other. Franklin was leading the way. Everyone was following him. Because Franklin's leg was injured, that severely impacted the traveling time. Slow and steady.
Eerie and frightening sounds echoed throughout the forest. The wolves howled, the black panthers growled, and the bats squealed as they flew around in the air. Nocturnal animals were very alive right now, meaning the daytime animals were all asleep. Other than that, everyone was silent. There was too much on their minds. Their home being attacked, having to run away, and being outside in the middle of the night were all things running through everyone's minds.
As the night continued on, some had begun to wonder when and if they'd eat again. Some were getting hungry, while others were getting tired and exhausted. How much longer is Franklin going to keep pushing everyone to continue on? Eventually, they'd have to stop.
"I think we're far enough away from the Kingdom Franklin," Steve mentioned, "we need to stop and eat and regain our energy."
Franklin stopped walking. He still had his back facing everyone. Once he turned around to look at everyone, they all sensed that he was frustrated and disgruntled.
"You don't know how dangerous these woods are," Franklin said as he stared at Steve, Alex and Annabeth. His frustration was kind of scaring them. What they didn't realize was how much pressure he was under in keeping everyone safe. "I, on the other hand, do. I've traveled these woods many times before."
Steve didn't know how to respond to him. Franklin was right about one thing. Steve didn't know what kind of evil entities these woods held. But Franklin didn't need to go into detail on just how dangerous everything was. Steve got the picture.
"I know what it's like to travel in these woods. Before I started writing stories, I was a cartographer. My job was to explore the World and create maps. It wasn't an easy task doing that. Eventually I decided not to continue doing that. After HeroBrine was abducted, I transitioned into writing stories."
"So if it weren't for your son being abducted, you would've never written stories?" Steve questioned. He wanted clarification on what Franklin's point was.
"Perhaps," Franklin said, "but to be entirely honest, I don't have an answer for that."
Standing behind Steve, Alex, and Annabeth were the other blockheads. Franklin could sense the anger amongst everyone. There wasn't much he could do though. Food supplies were almost depleted. Even if they were to stop and eat, Franklin wasn't sure if everyone would be able stave off their hunger.
Steve looked over his left shoulder and back at everyone else. Hunger and exhaustion were very noticeable amongst the others. He turned his head back and looked back over at Franklin.
"We should stop and rest either way," Steve said, "it shouldn't be too much longer before dawn."
Franklin sighed and shook his head. He scoffed.
"Tell me," he said, "have any of you ever heard of the Night Witch before?"
"The Night Witch?" Steve asked.
As they began to converse amongst themselves, faint giggling and growling sounds could be heard from all around them. But because they were so caught up in the moment, no one noticed.
Hiding behind an oak tree was a short figure with pointy ears and yellow eyes. It's eyes glowed brightly in the dark. It had a pointy nose and long, boney pointy fingers. It was silently watching the group of wandering blockheads. The figure hiding behind the tree was a Goblin. He wasn't alone though. He was accompanied by two other Goblins as well.
"What are you waiting for? Let's get them," another Goblin whispered.
"She told us not to engage until she arrives," the Goblin said, "we can't defy her orders...unless you want to be her next meal."
Steve and Franklin were still bickering back and forth. They were budding heads as to what it is they should do. Keep moving, or set up camp for the night. They couldn't decide. That's why they were arguing.
"We need to keep moving," Franklin said, "we're vulnerable and exposed if we stay here for the night. That's why it's safe to keep moving forward. I can't risk the lives of these other blockheads. I don't know what I'd do with myself if anyone was to perish on my watch. You're all my responsibility now. Until Sam or Victoria return, I'm in charge. What I say goes."
SNAP!
Before Steve had the chance to respond to Franklin, everyone froze. That snapping sound startled everyone. While everyone was standing still, they all looked over to their right at the tree line. Unable to make out what had caused that snapping sound, someone had to go and see what it was. Was it a zombie? A creeper? Or maybe a skeleton? All good theories, but sadly they were all wrong.
"Who's there?" Franklin shouted.
Steve and Alex grabbed their diamond swords out from their inventories. They were holding them tightly in their hands. Was this mysterious something hostile or friendly? They did not know.
"Show yourself!" Steve shouted, "stop hiding and come out!"
There was no response. Whatever it was, it was being very stubborn and hard to deal with. No one knew exactly what it was yet. But they quickly found out. After a minute of silence amongst everyone, footsteps could be heard. They got louder as they got closer.
Just then, emerging from the darkness, was a woman. She was wearing a white dress and had blonde hair and brown eyes. She was wearing an iron tiara on her head. Her tiara had many valuable minerals on it. Clear diamonds, green emeralds, and shiny gold. Accompanying this mysterious and beautiful blockhead, were three short green Goblins.
They had sharp and pointy teeth, noses and ears. None of them were wearing shirts. Only ripped and worn black pants. They were also not wearing any shoes. Because of that, their feet were exposed.
"Is this—," Steve mumbled to Franklin. He held his hand up against his mouth so that she wouldn't see what he was saying. While keeping an eye on her, Franklin nodded his head slowly.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't you. How've you been Franklin?" She asked as she examined everyone. She found it odd that there were this many blockheads outside at this time of night.
Franklin rolled his eyes. If one thing was for sure, he didn't want to talk to her, much less look at her. She was nothing but trouble.
"Oh you know," Franklin said, "just journeying to a nearby village is all."
"At this hour?" She responded, "how odd. Care to enlighten me on why you're all out here at night? Where's Sam?"
Steve, Alex, and Annabeth all walked backwards to stand behind Franklin. They knew exactly who she was. Although they didn't know much about who she is and what she does, they were still scared of her. That much was for sure.
"He's busy," Franklin responded, "he had other matters to attend to."
She stared at Franklin. But she wasn't entirely focused on him. She was more curious about the blockheads trying to hide behind him. Her Goblins were curious too. Who were they?
"You three," she said, "come out from behind him this instance! Stand front and center immediately."
At first Steve, Alex, and Annabeth were hesitant. They didn't want to step out from behind Franklin. But they were advised not to disobey her.
"Do as she says," Franklin said, "don't ignore her."
Without hesitating anymore, they all walked out from behind Franklin slowly. Was she planning on doing something to them?
"I thought I recognized you three," she said, "but weren't there four of you?"
"Who even are you?" Steve questioned, "what's your name?"
She scoffed and laughed sarcastically. How could she be so rude? Of course they deserved to know her name.
"Where are my manners? The name's Nora. I'm assuming Franklin has told you all about me. So I'm going to get straight to the point," Nora said, "I'm known to many as the Night Witch. I'm the protector of the seven Kingdom including—," Nora said as a big and fast shadow flew directly over everyone.
The sounds of wings flapping viciously could be heard. Steve, Alex, Annabeth and everyone else all quickly looked up into the night sky. What they saw was a semi-big dragon flying around. Nora's Goblins suddenly became frightened by the dragon. They quickly retreated back into the forest. Nora waved her hands around in the air. She quickly vanished.
Once they were gone, the dragon carefully dove down and gently landed on the ground. It immediately laid down on its stomach. Two blockheads slid down the side of the dragon. It was a male and female blockhead.
"Are you all alright?" A familiar voice questioned. "Did she do you any harm?"
As the two blockheads approached them and got closer, Franklin and the others all suddenly recognized who they were. It was Sam and Victoria. They made it out alive after all. Seeing them alive was a major sigh of relief.
"Luckily no," Franklin said, "but I had a feeling she would have if you two didn't show up."
"Well you're all safe now," Victoria said, "as long as I'm here, you'll all be safe. I promise."
