Chapter 43 - Hallway Of Portals [Ch. 11]

"Common!" A Pirate said as he pushed the blockhead who was walking in front of him. The blockhead walking in front of him was wearing a non-carved pumpkin over his head. He had ripped black pants on, and a grey shirt on. His hands were in shackles. "Walk faster."

The skies were cloudy. The wind was blowing snow all around aggressively. With the weather being so uncooperative, it made the journey to wherever they were going difficult. The Pirate knew that she would be expecting them soon.

Every time they took a step, the snow crunched right under their feet. Because the snowfall was so extreme, it also made seeing things very hard to see. Good thing the Pirate had a compass handy. Without it, he would surely lose his way.

"Where are you taking me?" The blockheads' muffled voice questioned.

It was somewhat difficult trying to hear what anyone was saying. The wind continued to howl as it blew. The blockhead with a pumpkin over his head stopped walking, causing the Pirate to bump right into him. Looking up from his compass, the Pirate glared at his prisoner.

"Did I say you could stop walking?" The Pirate shouted angrily. "Turn around and keep on moving along. We're almost there."

As the two of them continued to trek through the heavy snow, a tall and wide mountain began to emerge. They were getting closer to their destination. Soon after walking for a while, the two of them would finally be able to warm up after being outside for so long.

Their journey was almost complete. Who exactly was under the pumpkin? That was a question that only the Pirate himself could answer. Currently the two of them were traveling through the Snowy Tundra biome. A harsh and unforgiving biome it was. Polar bears, lions, and untamed wolves were the most common threat in this biome.

For those who dared to venture through the Snowy Tundra alone, did so at their own risk. For some, they made it safely through, while some unlucky other blockheads were never seen again.

Just a couple of blocks ahead of them was a large cave entrance. The entrance was dark. But from somewhere deep within the cave, faint lights could be seen glowing. This cave was clearly being occupied by someone or something.

The Pirate glanced down at his compass to make sure he was still going the right way. He was, thankfully. After he checked that, he put his compass away into his inventory. He then grabbed the blockheads right arm, holding it tightly. The last thing he wanted was for his prisoner to escape.

"We're here," the Pirate told his prisoner. Together, they both made their way over to the cave entrance.

Once they both made it into the cave, the Pirate let go of his prisoner's arm. He reached into his inventory to grab a torch out. After grabbing the torch, he also grabbed his flint and steel out. To see where they were going, they needed light. And the torch was the only available source at this time.

After lighting the torch, the darkness around them disappeared. The torch's light revealed things that the Pirate didn't see a second earlier….evil mobs. Creepers, Cave-Spiders, Zombies, and Skeletons were completely surrounding them.

Creepers and Cave-Spider's hissed. Zombies moaned and growled. The skeletons' bones rattled. Oddly though, these mobs weren't hostile. How could that be? Around the OverWorld, blockheads knew that if they got too close to these mobs, they would attack them. How is it that these mobs aren't doing just that?

Suddenly, incoming footsteps could be heard. The footsteps were getting louder as they got closer. But just after they started, they seized. The footsteps had mysteriously stopped.

"Edwin," a female blockheads' voice said from behind, "I'm impressed."

"It's good to see you again too, Nora," Edwin said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes. Nora didn't seem to notice his sarcasm and sassy attitude.

Nora walked out from behind him. She never once took her eyes off of Edwin. Why was that? Was Edwin in some sort of trouble? If so, why? Did he do something to upset Nora? Edwin's prisoner was standing right next to him on his left.

Nora examined the prisoner from head-to-toe. She was taping her chin with her hand. Edwin stood in silence as she did that.

"Remove the pumpkin from his head," Nora ordered Edwin to do.

Edwin turned. He reached his hands out to carefully grab the pumpkin. Once he did that, he slowly lifted it off of the prisoner's head. After the pumpkin was taken off, Nora was surprised to see who was under the pumpkin. Edwin put the pumpkin back into his inventory.

"Found this blockhead this morning floating in the water," Edwin mentioned, "he was unconscious."

Nora glanced up and over at Edwin. She slowly shook her head. "Good job on catching the right guy. Only one tiny mishap though."

"What's that?" Edwin responded irritatingly to Nora. For all he knew, Nora didn't care for his attitude once so ever.

"You only caught one of them," Nora said, "and that's a problem."

Edwin frowned. He was starting to lose patience with Nora. Why did she congratulate him on his capture and then say that there's a problem? That part didn't make any sense to him.

"Why is that a problem?" Edwin asked.

"Because!" Nora shouted. Her voice echoed loudly throughout the cave, "I told you there were four of them. Not one. Do you know how to follow orders? I mean...you are a pirate after all right?"

Edwin didn't answer that question. Of course he was a pirate. He thought she had known that. Or maybe she was just being plain old mean to him. Just the way Nora was treating him really made him dislike her even more.

"The way you treat us is starting to get very old," Edwin said, "you do realize we're doing all your dirty work for you right? Why is it that you can't do everything yourself? Hmm?"

Nora scoffed. Edwin did have a point though. After all she was capable of doing everything herself. But why do that when she has the Pirates to do it for her? Because she had help, she was able to focus on finishing her biggest project yet. The sooner it was finished, the sooner she could carry-out her devilish plans.

"You know why," Nora said, "finishing my project is important too you know. We're so close to completing it. I predict that it'll be done within the next few days."

"What exactly are we building again?" Edwin questioned.

Nora looked away from the prisoner. She looked over at Edwin and stared directly at him. Her stare was very intimidating.

"You'll find out as soon as it's finished," Nora said, "but just to make sure it's safe, our new friend here will be our guinea pig. If everything goes according to plan, we shouldn't have any issues."

"What about our deal?" Edwin asked.

"Our deal still stands as of now," Nora said, "a promise is a promise."
