Desert Biome, OverWorld
The Lone Rangers Village
Night
"Lay her down over here," Suzanne said to Daniel and Sheriff Robert as they assisted Petra over to the red bed. Daniel and Robert both laid her down gently. Petra was still conscious, but in severe pain.
Elena watched from a short distance. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Whatever potion that Witch threw at Petra, it was really taking a toll on Petra's health.
Suzanne rushes over to the bed and immediately begins examining Petra's body. From head to toe, she concluded that Petra was indeed dying. If she didn't act quickly, they may lose Petra forever. Suzanne didn't want that to happen.
Suzanne was the Village's doctor. If anyone was injured or sick, they knew who to go to. She was very good at what she did.
"What happened to her?" Suzanne asked Daniel. She needed an answer to better help her understand why Petra is in this condition.
"A Witch," Daniel responded, "threw some type of potion at Petra before we got back to the Witch's hut."
"Let me guess...a potion did this?" Suzanne questioned.
"Yes," Daniel responded. "Is there any way we could extract whatever is coursing through her body?"
"Lets see what's really happening with Petra," Suzanne said as she walked over to a nearby chest and opened it. She began digging around in it, searching for a specific item. After about a minute of digging around in the chest, she found what she was looking for.
"Got it," Suzanne said.
Daniel glanced down at Petra. She was looking directly at him. "It's going to be okay, Daniel," Petra said, "I promise."
Daniel shook his head. He disagreed with her. Everything was not going to be okay. If Suzanne couldn't help her, then no one could.
"Don't promise me anything. You're going to feel better soon," Daniel responded, "I'm sure of it. Suzanne is going to take good care of you until then."
"But what'll happen if she can't help me?" Petra asked.
"Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves," Daniel said. "One step at a time."
Petra coughed heavily. She was growing weaker by the second. Time was not on their side right now. Petra turned her head to the left. In the corner of the room, stood a woman. She was wearing a white dress and golden tiara. She had blonde hair and wore no shoes. Petra recognized the woman.
"Victoria?" Petra questioned, "is that really you?"
Daniel examined the room. He knew who Victoria was, but he couldn't see her. Was Petra hallucinating? How is it that she could see Victoria, but Daniel couldn't? Daniel suddenly realized why only Petra could Victoria.
He glanced across the bed at Suzanne. Suzanne looked back at him. "On second thought, let her be. We can't help her no matter how hard we try."
"What?" Suzanne said, double checking to see if she heard Daniel correctly, "you don't want me to help her?"
Daniel slouched his head, shaking it from side to side slowly. "As much as I want to save her, I think it's best we let her move on."
"Are you sure?" Suzanne asked.
"Yes," Daniel answered, "may I have a moment alone with Petra please?"
Suzanne frowned. She was beginning to feel bad for Daniel. Knowing that she could have saved Petra, made it even harder for her to bear with Daniel's decision to let her move on.
"As you wish, your majesty," Suzanne said as she looked at Robert and Elena. They all walked back outside, giving Daniel a moment alone.
Petra turned her head over to her right and gazed into Daniel's eyes. He could tell she wasn't going to hold on much longer. Being emotional was quite difficult for Daniel. He needed to be strong for Petra, showing her that he wasn't a softie.
"Thank you Daniel," Petra said softly to him.
"I only want what's best for you," Daniel responded.
Petra smiled faintly. "You've always wanted what's best for me. Thank you for letting me go."
"I don't want you to leave. There were still so many adventures for us to embark on together. Now that you won't be around, who else am I supposed to travel the world with?" Daniel asked.
"You're a smart man Daniel," Petra said, "you'll find someone. I'm sure of it."
"They're going to have big shoes to fill," Daniel said.
"Indeed—they will," Petra said as she smiled faintly once more, "thank you for everything. Thank you for being my friend, Daniel."
Daniel closed his eyes and began breaking down. He couldn't bear the fact that he was losing his best friend. He grabbed Petra's hand and held it tightly. Petra's grip on his hand loosened. That's when he opened his eyes to see that Petra was gone. She had crossed over into the afterlife.
He started crying. Petra was officially gone. But he knew she would be in good hands. If Victoria, a Goddess, was present, that meant she was taking Petra up to the Heavens above. After a few seconds passed, her body vanished into thin air. White particles appeared and ascended into the air before disappearing again. The bed was now empty once more.
Petra's entire inventory spilled out everywhere. She had an enchanted book and diamond sword, apples and carrots, and a piece of paper with Daniel's name on it. He picked everything up and put her items safely away into his inventory.
He fixed his posture and emotions. Being strong was the only thing he could do. Petra would have wanted that. He lifted his head up and frowned. Not because he was sad, but because he was angry.
He was seeking revenge. Scarlet and that crooked Witch are going to pay for what they did to Petra. He was fueling up with anger and vengeance. He began walking over to the door when he heard the wooden floor creak. Turning around, he saw Victoria behind him.
"Daniel," Victoria said, "I understand you're upset. But seeking revenge isn't something you should do."
"And why's that?" Daniel said in a loud and intimidating voice. He didn't really care for what Victoria was trying to tell him. She didn't control him.
"Her death will be avenged. Scarlet and that crooked Witch are going to pay for this," Daniel said.
"You're a King! Not a savage demigod like EnderBrine! Channel your anger elsewhere," Victoria suggested.
"I'll channel my anger elsewhere once I take my Kingdom back!" Daniel said as he stormed out of the building and went outside. Victoria was left alone inside.
"I worry for him sometimes," Victoria said as Petra walked out from behind her. The two of them watched Daniel as he was talking to his friends about a plan.
"He's upset," Petra said, "I trust he will do the right thing and make everything right again."
"I understand that. The only thing I worry about is how he's going to do it. That's what makes me nervous," Victoria mentioned.
"Then we should watch over him, and try to guide him down a good path," Petra said. "We need to give him time."
"You're right," Victoria said as she disappeared. Petra disappeared as well, vacating the building. They returned back to the Heavens above.
Outside, Daniel and Elena were talking. Sheriff Robert went back to patrolling the village on his horse. Suzanne went back inside the hospital to help care for the other patients.
"So what's the plan moving forward?" Elena asked Daniel as they began walking back to Elena's house.
"Tomorrow, we begin training your people for battle. After we complete that task, we head back to my Kingdom," Daniel answered.
"Then what?" Elena asked.
"We begin taking back what is rightfully mine!" Daniel said as a big, black shadow flew over the village. Elena and Daniel stopped walking and looked up into the night sky. It was a dragon flying over them. Daniel immediately recognizes who the dragon was. It was Elderon.
Elderon quickly descended upon the village, gently landing on the ground. Daniel and Elena looked over at him. He was sitting on the ground just outside of the village.
"Your Majesty," Elderon said, "I found you! I actually found you. It's so good to see that you're okay."
"Did Scarlet send you?" Daniel questioned. "How did you find this village?"
"I had a little help," Elderon said as he slowly lowered his head. There was another man sitting on his neck. The man jumped off and landed on the ground.
Sheriff Robert had his crossbow ready to fire. He had it aimed directly at Elderon and the man.
"So we meet again," HeroBrine said, "I'm sorry about chasing you guys the other day. That wasn't me."
"What do you mean it wasn't you?" Elena questioned, "if I do recall correctly, it was you chasing us."
"Yes you're right. I was chasing you, but I was being mind controlled by Scarlet," HeroBrine stated. She threw a glass bottle at me with a black substance in it. I don't remember much after that. Although, I do recall chasing you, Petra, and you," HeroBrine continued to say as he pointed at Elena.
"How did you find us?" Daniel questioned.
"With this map," HeroBrine said as he walked over to Daniel and Elena. He gave the map to Daniel. Looking down at the map, he saw a red x on the location just outside this village. That's where he and Petra woke up.
"Scarlet knows where we are?" Daniel asked.
"She's the one behind you and Petra's disappearance. Speaking of which, where is Petra?" HeroBrine asked.
"Dead," Elena responded, "all because of you. If you wouldn't have chased us, she'd still be alive. Her death is your fault!"
"I'm terribly sorry," HeroBrine said.
"It wasn't your fault. It was Scarlet's," Daniel responded.
"Elderon and I have also come with bad news," HeroBrine said.
"What's the bad news?" Daniel asked as he put the map into his inventory for safe keeping.
"Scarlet knows an attack on the Kingdom is looming. She's building an army as we speak. We need to act quickly before it's too late. If we don't make our move now, she'll make hers," HeroBrine explained.
Daniel turned his head and looked at Elena. She looked back at him.
"I guess we need to skip the training. We still might have an element of surprise. Sure, Scarlet knows there's a battle looming on the horizon, but she doesn't know when, right? So if we attack tomorrow night, we might just have the upper hand," Daniel lectured.
"You really think skipping the training is a good idea?" Elena questioned.
"It's risky, but I have high hopes that you're people can fight otherwise. I mean look at me for example. I fought EnderBrine, NetherBrine and HeroBrine and succeeded. We didn't have training then and we still won."
"What makes you think that will be the same in this case?" Elena questioned.
"I don't know. I just have a good feeling about this. You have to trust me. Can you do that?" Daniel asked Elena.
She nodded her head hesitantly. Daniel faintly smiled and nodded his head once.
"Good," he said, "we leave in fifteen. Pack anything and everything you have and gather your people."
"Okay," Elena said as she ran off to gather tools and other useful items to help with the fight. Daniel turned and looked at HeroBrine.
"Return to the Kingdom," Daniel said, "tell Scarlet that you killed me. That way she won't suspect our arrival at the gates."
"Of course," HeroBrine said, "save travels. I'll see you soon."
"Yes you will," Daniel said.
