"You, what do you think? Was I able to portray the right kind of emotions?" Evangeline asked, her face only a few inches away from Alexander's.
He kept looking into her cat-like eyes.
They were mesmerizing.
His gaze was neither offensive nor soft or gentlemanly.
Evangeline coughed and was about to get back to her seat when Alexander placed his hand on her waist, stopping her in place.
"So, is that kind of man your type? The kind of man you would date?" Alexander asked, and Evangeline's pupils dilated as her smile froze.
This was not what she wanted to do! She just wanted to catch him off-guard and nothing else.
"I... Uh... I think you mistook it. I was just demonstrating what kind of man you look like and nothing more. I want to become an actress. So you might be thinking that my acting was a bit too real, but as I said, I was just acting and -"
Alexander's lips twitched into a smirk before his gaze raked her flustered face with a hungry look.
"Why did both scenarios include getting the girl onto the bed?" Alexander asked out of the blue, and Evangeline's cheeks turned even redder.
She looked into his eyes with big wide eyes, and he suppressed the urge to smile.
Did she really think only she can play this game? He can play this game too.
Alexander tilted his head a few degrees before leaning back, his gaze not leaving her.
He brought out his other hand from his coat and was about to grab her jaws when the car jerked at a speed breaker and Evangeline lost her balance.
"Oomph!" She fell right in his arms, her face in the crook of his neck, and his lips right on her earlobe.
"I am sorry, sir," the driver said before quickly averting his gaze once again at the scene in the back seat.
The secretary had already become a statue long ago and didn't want to see what was happening in the back seat. He still wanted to see this world and annoying Mr. Alexander would result in him losing his eyeballs which was the last thing he would want.
Alexander's lips moved slightly and Evangeline's heart skipped a bit as she became conscious and even more sensitive to the area his lips were touching.
"Shouldn't you get up? Or do you want to keep hugging me? I don't have a problem with that as long as you are not acting," Alexander's voice was cold, but Evangeline who has dealt with these kinds of cold men in her four years of life in Italy, blushed deep scarlet at the hidden amusement in his voice.
"I... Uh... I was about to! You are the one who stopped me," Evangeline squealed, surprising herself in the process.
Her heart was beating faster than a bullet train now.
Did she really squeal just now? What the hell was she doing being so girly in front of him? What will be think of her? He would now think that she is deliberately hitting on him!
Evangeline gulped before pulling away, jerking back forward in his arms.
"Oww," She moaned in pain as the chain rubbed on her skin uncomfortably, and Alexander realized that the locket she was wearing was entangled with his coat pin and he rolled his eyes.
Could this moment turn any more cliche?
"Wait up. Let me handle it for you," Alexander said before he looked down and started pulling her chain out.
Evangeline, on the other hand, looked at the focused man.
The way his brows were knitted, making his nose slightly scrunched up and his cold eyes that look like they are not afraid or bothered of something was what she wanted to change in him.
Even though she wasn't a particular fan of this man under him, it doesn't mean she doesn't know how to appreciate beauty.
She was least bothered with how much time it would take or that she was practically on top of him right now.
He can take all his time for all she cares. She didn't mind as long as such a beautiful sight was in front of her.
His brows were so thick and the urge to touch them made her gulp slightly.
"If you want to check out someone and keep staring at them, the least you can do is make it less obvious," Alexander said before pulling her locket with a jerk, looking up into Evangeline's eyes, his heart skipping a beat at how close she really was.
She was really the first girl who has managed to pull so many emotions out of his frozen heart or the stone of his heart as people say he has.
"Why should I make it less obvious? I am looking at a beautiful thing, and I should let it know. It's my way of appreciating the beauty," Evangeline smiled unknowingly, and Alexander's pupils dilated.
He raked his gaze at her face to see if she was joking again with her words.
She looked genuine.
Even if she was acting as she mentioned earlier, her gaze was too real.
"Then do you want to appreciate this beauty with a kiss on its cheeks?" Alexander asked, his lips stretching into a smile.
Evangeline's eyes widened before she finally got back to her seat.
"Y-you are a funny man indeed, Mr. Alexander," Evangeline chuckled awkwardly.
"Really? Am I? That's the first time I heard someone mentioning it," Alexander smirked, looking at her from the corner of his eyes, liking exactly how she was fidgeting in nervousness.
So she can act all cold, funny, and flirtatious, but right at the time someone flirts back, she is often caught off guard. Or was it because it was him that she got caught off-guard?
Alexander rubbed his jaws thoughtfully.
"Sir, we are here at the restaurant," the driver said, and Alexander hummed while Evangeline looked out nervously.
She pulled out a hat-like thing from her back pocket before wearing it, and Alexander narrowed his eyes.
"What are you doing?"
"Wearing a hat?"
"I can see that very much clearly. What I am asking is why are you wearing a hat? It's nighttime," Alexander asked, and Evangeline chuckled awkwardly.
"Because I am a future actress. I can't be seen dining with a high-profile man. What if someone clicks my pictures because I am too beautiful and when I become famous, they use those pictures against me? I can't risk it," Evangeline answered, and though Alexander could catch her lie, he didn't say anything regarding the matter.
"You are just so full of yourself," Alexander said.
"It's good I am full of myself and nothing else," Evangeline said before she widened her eyes at the double-meaning sentence she spoke.
Even Alexander stopped mid-step and looked at her with a quirked brow.
She just didn't say what he thought she said, right?
"I mean, full of evilness," Evangeline quickly recovered before rushing inside the restaurant, making Alexander look at the back of the girl with a mischievous smirk.
It looks like his days here won't go boring anymore. It will be nice playing with her.
