Chapter 23 - Mage is Already Here!

The orb acted in mysterious ways as it entranced all those who watched it. The twins didn't react without knowing what to do with life. The children were quickly processed as eventually, another kid passed the test.

An awkward atmosphere had enveloped the chapel since the twins had passed the test. It was only now slightly dispelled by the kid's enthusiasm of getting normal grade talent. 54 drops condensed with a clear color that represented the Air element.

Time passed and then finally something snapped the pair out of their empty blank stares. It was the girl who had talked to them before the tests started. All the other kids meant nothing to them, but the girl had left a basic impression on them, so they paid a little attention.

"1,2,3...50...101...200...300...400...482,483,484. She almost got a high talent."

"Nice dark brown, Earth talent. Maybe she would have been the one to have all the attention instead if we had gotten trash talent like we were supposed to."

"Indeed."

The girl didn't act as excited as the other children who passed. Instead, she looked outwards until she saw the twins. She looked at them with a strange confusion clouding her eyes. Still, this glance look only lasted a few seconds before she went up and received her book and instructions.

Soon everyone was tested with one more passing. They were also different condensing 236 drops with a bright red Fire Talent.

Soon everyone left leaving only the ones who passed inside. Seeing everyone still here the lead spoke with her motherly voice, "You all can stay in one of the rooms here in the chapel if you like. You can also leave and tell your parents before returning.

You can do whatever you want. Just make sure to read your books and learn as much as you can. Then you all will be tested tomorrow. Make sure to be here by noon tomorrow."

Seeing the children nod she watched with a warm smile as three of the seven children left including the twins. Seeing them leave she felt as if they would escape any moment. Really she was just suprised that they stayed till the end of the testing. She had expected them to run the moment they had the chance. With a sigh she stopped looking at the open door and simply headed to a room to rest.

"So you passed? HAHA! That is great new! I knew you two were special since the moment I first laid eyes on you!"

Looking at thier over excited father, the twins felt helpless. Aroura on the other hand was simply had a proud look on her face as if to say that of course they passed.

"We have to come tommorow for the final test."

"Ah yes! Let's go quickly! We need to tell your mother of the great news! HAHA! MY CHILDREN PASSED!" As he yelled his pride several passerby looked at him. Some immeadiatly understood and looked with envy, others looked annoyed at the loud man in the middle of the market district.

"Alright, I will be out here just a little while away, so make sure to do well. We are all so excited to see what will happen!" Holding a baby in her arms Adeline congratulated her children.

"Yes, we will be just outside waiting!" Edmund holding another baby spoke with the same excitment as his wife.

The babies also babbled as they followed their parent's example waving.

"I know you will be great!" Aroura seemed to know everything as she expected them to do amazing.

That said the twins could do amazing indeed if they wanted to, but they truly didn't want to. Having read and understood everything the Basics of Mana book had to offer they were happy they decided to follow the path of least resistance.

In reality, the book was a very detailed explanation on how to control one's Mana effectively. Unfortunately, they had already understood how to control their own Mana effectively when they touched the orb. So everything was useless.

Having a plan set for in place, they had already decided to be the most average they could.

Yes, their plan was to act like the test was faulty!

They planned to claim their talents were too pure and it broke the test. If that didn't work they would keep at it and make it seem like the test was really faulty. At least that is the plan on the surface. In reality, they would learn the most they could about magic and when they were proficient enough they would use it to escape!

Thinking their plan was perfect they stepped into the chapel after saying thier goodbyes. Inside they saw all five others already there. What stood out was the number of adults here. All the aids were still here. Maria stood proudly at the center of the room, but beside her was another person.

Seeing the twins arrival Maria smiled and waved them over, "Welcome! It is lovely to see you both made it. Now that everyone is here we can start. But first let me officially introduce this gentleman beside me.

This here is David. A mage from the Academy! He will be watching as you take your last test. Please welcome him."

The twins who had just entered stared at the mage in shock. At the same time they looked into each other's eyes and spoke everything with their eyes.

'He is already here! How!'

'I don't know?! Why don't you tell me!'

'...'

'...'

'We need to revise our plans.'
