Chapter 8 - The Cold Reality

As she grappled with the boundaries of her experiences, the truth seemed elusive, leaving her to confront a reality that was as mysterious and complex

Lily struggled to rise from the hard bed she found herself on, but her efforts were quickly thwarted as her realization dawned.

One of her hands was bound. A heavy iron chain encircled her wrist, its unforgiving grip keeping her firmly tethered to the bed.

Panic surged within her as she frantically tugged at the chain, her fingers clawing at the iron links in a desperate bid for freedom.

But the chain held fast, biting into her skin with a cruel insistence that sent a jolt of pain up her arm.

Gritting her teeth against the discomfort, Lily continued to writhe and contort her body, attempting to slip her hand from the iron shackle. Each movement only deepened the throbbing ache, leaving her grimacing in distress.

As she fought against her restraints, her mind raced with questions.

How had she ended up here?

The memories of her dream—of the wolves, the unsettling encounter with her parents, and the surreal landscape—mingled with her current reality in a tangled web of confusion.

Fear gnawed at her, uncertainty casting a shadow over her thoughts.

A myriad of possibilities crossed her mind—had she been kidnapped?

Was this some kind of elaborate prank?

Or was there something more sinister at play?

Lily's breath came in ragged gasps as she finally stopped struggling against the chain, her heart pounding in her chest.

The cold reality of her situation settled over her, the weight of the iron links a stark reminder of her captivity.

Tears of frustration welled in her eyes as the truth sunk in. She was trapped, bound by the unknown, left to confront her fears and unravel the mysteries that surrounded her.

The questions remained, hanging like a storm cloud over her head, as she grappled with the chilling reality of her circumstances.

The door suddenly swung open with a harsh creaking sound.

Lily turned her gaze towards the source of the noise and saw a woman clad in black and white attire stepping inside.

Approaching slowly, the woman's gaze locked onto Lily for a moment, a cold intensity in her eyes.

"Awake at last, it seems," the woman remarked, her tone icy.

Lily returned the woman's gaze, her brow furrowing in consternation. The woman appeared to be in her thirties, but her demeanor was chillingly composed.

She took measured steps forward, coming to a halt right beside the bed where Lily lay.

"Wh-who are you?" Lily asked cautiously. Her instincts told her that this woman was not to be trusted.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Isa. I serve here and will be guiding you from now on," she stated, her voice devoid of emotion.

Lily's brows knit further. "Guiding? Where am I, and what happened to me?"

Isa's lips twitched slightly, a hint of irritation flashing across her face. "You must be deaf, then. You fainted and remained unconscious for three days."

"What?" Lily's voice trembled with disbelief.

"Are you deaf?" Isa retorted, her annoyance evident. "You fainted in the woods and only regained consciousness today."

Lily's mind reeled, trying to process the information.

Three days had passed?

She struggled to remember anything after her encounter with the colossal wolves in the forest, but the memories remained a blur, as if obscured by a fog.

Questions flooded her thoughts.

How had she ended up here?

Why couldn't she remember the events that led to her fainting?

And who was this woman named Isa, with her enigmatic presence and curt demeanor?

Fear mingled with frustration as Lily faced the unsettling reality of her situation. The room felt suffocating, the air thick with uncertainty.

"In the woods?" Lily's voice quivered with uncertainty.

The images of her encounter with the colossal wolves flickered in her mind, each detail vivid and haunting.

She fought the rising tide of fear, desperately trying to dismiss those memories as a fantastical illusion.

"No, that's not possible," she muttered to herself, her words a feeble attempt to rationalize the inexplicable. The idea that such surreal events had actually occurred seemed too absurd to accept.

But as she exchanged glances with Isa, the woman's unwavering gaze only fueled Lily's doubts.

A gnawing realization crept over her—this wasn't a dream, and she couldn't simply wish it all away.

Lily's heart raced as a chilling thought wormed its way into her mind.

Could she have been abducted? But why?

Why would she be held captive?

Why wasn't she killed on the same night her parents were murdered?

Questions swirled within Lily's mind, each one a sharp arrow of uncertainty that pierced through her thoughts.

And then, the haunting thought—why wasn't she killed alongside her parents?

The same night that their lives were brutally taken, why had she been spared only to be subjected to a different form of torment?

The memory of her parents' fading faces in her dream merged with her current reality, leaving her to confront the unsettling possibility that she had been taken against her will.

Her surroundings suddenly felt stifling, the air heavy with apprehension. The chains binding her hand became a stark reminder of her captivity.

As she grappled with the uncertainty, her eyes met Isa's once more, and the woman's composed expression only deepened the mystery.

Lily's mind whirled with questions, each more pressing than the last.

What was the truth behind her current predicament?

Why had she been brought here?

And most urgently—how would she find her way back to the life she once knew?

The answers remained elusive, shrouded in a fog of confusion and apprehension that cast a shadow over her every thought.

"From now on, you are a pet of Alpha Xander, our leader in this realm—Pack Moonshadow."

The weight of Isa's words hung heavy in the air, settling like a leaden truth in Lily's mind. The declaration seemed too surreal to be believed—a reality so far removed from anything she had ever known.

She struggled to process the notion that she was now considered a mere "pet" in this mysterious realm ruled by Alpha Xander.

"Pet?" Lily's voice wavered with a mixture of shock and indignation. The word echoed like a cruel jest, an affront to her sense of self.
