"Let's start by giving you strength." Said Gabriel while giving Kate the seed made of Mana he produced from his talent.
"Eat this." Said Gabriel after Kate grabbed the seed.
The moment he said that Gabriel noticed that it was a stupid thing to say because nobody would eat something that someone else gave them just because they told them so.
When Gabriel was about to explain what the seed was, he was stunned because Kate ate the seed without giving it a second thought.
The moment that Kate ate the seed she started to shine all over her body. Her eyes were now blue instead of the white and black color, every one of her body shone with a blue out-glow.
This caught Gabriel by surprise, this was the first time he saw this happening after someone ate the magic seed. The only other person who ate the seed was Anna, who didn't glow like that.
It was as if his talent was affected by the world's rules, but Gabriel wasn't sure. He didn't know if this feeling was correct, so he decided to put this behind his mind.
At this moment Kate finally finished her transformation, now all the glow disappeared and nothing changed in her. Having finished her transformation Kate tried to feel her changes so she started to gopped her body and tighten her fist.
"I don't feel any different." Said Kate to Gabriel to make him realize that whatever he gave her didn't work.
To this, Gabriel couldn't help but chuckle a little at her way of telling him that it didn't work. So taking a little bit of a breath to help himself gain some composure so he doesn't laugh out loud in front of Kate.
"Of course, there is no change for now. There going to be only two changes one is that you'll be able to use mana and the second you'll have to concentrate a little bit and feel inside you." Explain to Gabriel to Kate the effect of the Magic Seed she just ate and how it'll manifest.
Hearing this explanation, Kate immediately closed her eyes and started to feel inside her. She concentrated on understanding what the second change was to know if it was true because the second could be confirmed quickly as long as asks for help from someone who knew how to control Mana already.
The moment Kate concentrated it was as if the whole world disappeared for her, it was all in total silence. The wasn't the sound of people talking, breathing, and even their heartbeat.
The wind's sound and even the animal and plant voices disappear it was only her alone in her world. It took a little bit of time for Kate to learn how to walk in this silent world, and when she did so she started looking around this empty world.
Until she came across a light ball, in this empty and quiet world seeing a light ball floating around was weird but this was attracting Kate towards it. So she did exactly that, Kate got close to the light ball and the closer she got the more she was being called by the light ball until she was closed enough that she touched the ball.
When Kate touched the light ball it felt like she was transcending, her thinking and even the way she saw and thought of the world changed. This lasted for about a minute until she finally came to herself.
Opening her eyes Kate was filled with excitement, the moment that she touched the light ball she learned what was the second effect that the mana seed was supposed to have.
"I Awakened a Talent! Thank you!" Said Kate to Gabriel after not being able to contain herself.
The moment Kate told Gabriel that she had awakened a talent he was surprised because he didn't feel a thing. The first time he tried his talent [Magic Seed] with Anna the reason he knew that he got a skill was because he felt it as something left his body which was Mana and then something got into his body that it was a skill.
But this time he didn't feel anything, first he thought that he needed a little bit of time before that feeling came back again but even after Kate could tell she had awoken a talent he hadn't felt anything yet.
"What's your Talent?" Asked Gabriel to Kate curious as to what type of talent she woke up with and if this had anything to do with havingn't received anything in exchange for the Magic Seed.
"My Talent name is [Nemesis Apostole] this talent by using all my Mana lets me judge people by whether they did anything bad or good and depending on the result they will receive a judgement and I receive a reward no matter what the person judged." Said Kate without hiding anything from Gabriel because he was the reason she now had a talent.
Hearing the description of this talent stunned Gabriel because this was a really strong talent. Kate with her talent now can judge a person into whether they are good or evil and receive a reward for it meanwhile the judge will receive a punishment or rewards for being good or evil.
Gabriel then decided to use his [Appraisal] skill on Kate and see if anything changed and the moment he did so he was even more surprised by what the skill showed.
{ Name: Kate Phelp
Age: 9
Level: 1
Talents: [Nemesis Apostole]
Skills: [Lied Detector Lv 10]
Stats:
STR: G- END: G-
SPD: G- INT: B+
Equipment: None }
What surprised Gabriel about this Information from his skill were two things, the first one was that he was now able to see Kate's personal window and the second was that Kate's highest stat is Mana compared to the rest making her an innate Mana user.
"Incredible." Murmure Gabriel after seeing her Status but this was caught by Kate so she asked curiously.
"What's incredible?" Asked Kate with an innocent look.
"Ahh! Nothing, don't worry about it! I was just surprised by your Talent." Said Gabriel quickly so that Kate wouldn't discover that he was surprised by more than her Talent.
"Why can I see her Status Window?" Wonder Gabriel.
He has never been able to do this besides himself, so the sudden ability to do this with Kate made Gabriel puzzled. There wasn't any extra that he didn't and his skill hadn't leveled up, so why it showed the Status of Kate was a mystery for him.
"What are going to do now? I want to test my talent by I don't know where." Said Kate while Gabriel had his mind somewhere else but thanks to this he can forget for now about that and concentrate on the now.
To this question, Gabriel had an idea where to go for Kate to try her talent and what's even better is that she could even find possible clues of her mother's whereabouts.
"I know where we can go. Let's go to the Black Market." Gabriel announces their future destination to Kate.
"The Black Market? Why?" Asked Kate confused about why they would go there, this was the first time she had ever heard of the Black Market.
"The Black Market is a place where most people go when they need to buy something that is not easily accessible to them and the reason we are going there is because sometimes there are bad people that make transactions including slave traders." Explain Gabriel to Kate while also mentioning the slave trader part with a purpose and it looked like it worked.
The moment that Kate heard the word slave trader her eyes were suddenly filled with rage, it was so much rage that even her Mana was being affected by it. She was expulsing small waves of Mana's will with anger and wrath that the natural blue color of the Mana was now read, and whoever got close to her would just collapse from fear.
But to Gabriel this much was nothing, he was fighting off Skeleton Monster for a whole week without much of a break. The amount of Killing intent that the skeleton displayed was much stronger than the mere rage intent that Kate was displaying.
If the intent were being compared against one another then it would be that Kate's Anger Intent would be the size of a barrel and the skeleton killing intent would be the size of a pool.
What's more the intents of Kate and the skeleton were so different that comparing them would be injustice towards the skeleton because Kate's Anger Intent has only the effect of paralyzing people but the killing intent from the skeleton has the effect of paralyzing, controlling, debilitating and even killing it just the intent.
"Calm down, Kate." Gabriel said immediately because her intent was so intense that it almost dispersed towards everyone at the restaurant and that would cause a commotion.
When Gabriel called out to Kate, she finally came to herself and calmed down, but this time we could see that now she had a new goal in mind.
"Let's go to the Black Market." Said Kate to Gabriel after she stood up from her seat at the table and went towards the exit of the restaurant.
Seeing Kate's new resolve Gabriel couldn't help but shake his head, although he planned this the moment Kate told him that she wanted to try her talent he didn't think she would react like this. He now understands how much he underestimated Kate's hate for the man who destroyed her family.
So without saying anything Gabriel got out of the restaurant and outside the restaurant he saw Kate on a corner waiting for him. After seeing Kate Gabriel got close to her while she kept her head down.
When Gabriel was in front of Kate she with a small voice apologized to him.
"I'm sorry, I won't do it again." Said Kate while apologizing to Gabriel.
This small gesture made him realize that no matter how mature Kate looks she is still a 9-year-old kid that just lost her mother and still needs the love and care of maternal or paternal figures.
"Don't worry about it, just don't do it again." reassured Gabriel.
After being reassured by Gabriel the only thing that she did was nod her head, but Gabriel still noticed that she was still upset about what just happened. The only thing Gabriel could think for her to feel better was to let her go through these emotions.
"Let's go." Said Gabriel and that's the only thing he said throughout the whole trip toward the Black Market, he wanted Kate to get through her emotions while going there or at least alleviate a little from those emotions.
The walk towards the Black Market wasn't a long one, but it took longer due to Kate being a kid. At first, when going towards the Black Market they went through the whole slums, and after going out of the slums they headed towards a place called the Commercial Streets.
The Commercial Streets is a place where most of the merchants from other cities or even kingdoms erect their tents or stalls where they sell their merchandise to the people.
That is why even though it was night already the Commercial Streets were still filled with people that were selling and some were buying. This is the place where Gabriel is headed, but it's not the Commercial Streets where the Black Market is connected it's just one of the steps one needs to take if they want to enter the Black Market.
At the Commercial Streets Gabriel entered into one of the pubs, on the counter Gabriel called the Bartender. Seeing that Gabriel was calling him, he gave the drink in his hand to the customer and then headed towards where Gabriel was.
"What can I get you?" Asked the Bartender after he was in front of Gabriel.
"I'll have a whiskey neat, but make it a double." Answer Gabriel to the Bartender.
After the Bartender heard this his face didn't change but he did look around the bar to make sure there wasn't anyone that wasn't supposed to be there before he looked back at Gabriel.
"For how many?" Asked the Bartender after looking around.
"For two." Answered Gabriel with a smile while also pointing down towards Kate.
When the Bartender saw Kate he didn't say anything else, he just took a hard look at her before adverting his eyes from Kate.
"Follow me." Said the Bartender he turned around and then put everything on him behind the counter and then exited the counter.
The Bartender then entered a door that was next to the counter and Gabriel and Kate followed him. On the other side of the door, was the storage room.
This room was filled with wooden boxes that had all types of alcohol and wines. The Bartender didn't even look for anything in here but headed towards the west part of the storage room.
Arriving at a wall the bartender then kneeled and then knocked three times on the floor. The knocks were in a certain tune and after the knock about three seconds later a set of three other knocks came from the floor.
The wooden floor on the spot that was knocked raised and a man appeared on the bottom. The man looked around the place and after making sure that there wasn't anyone he looked at the bartender.
"They are the light that shines the top." Said the man to the bartender.
"And we are the shadows that lurk beneath." Answer the Bartender.
"Follow me." Hearing the Bartender the man nodded and then looked towards Gabriel and Kate and asked them to follow.
The Man then dropped down and Kate and Gabriel followed. At the bottom of the floor, there was a tunnel that looked like didn't even have an end but the further they walked the more connections to other tunnels appeared and there were even times were people came out of those tunnels.
Everything that Gabriel and Kate have gone through is the normal procedure that everyone who wants to enter the Black Market needs to go through. The owner of the Black Market is so meticulous in the way they handle the Black Market in every city.
The connection to the Black Market is so big that no matter the bar or store that you go to the Commercial Street and tell them their respective secret code it can always lead you to the Black Market.
