It's 5.30 am and the alarm rings out from obnoxious alarm clock strategically placed on the side cupboard of Joshua's luxurious bed to torment his existence. He had gotten so used to coming home late, he hated his parents screaming at him though it all. but what could a guy do, he felt it was the golden age for him to explore the world and he would not let anyone get in the way including his doting parents.
Josh always wondered what it would have felt like if he had siblings, like tons of them, his parents couldn't care less if he even ate, his thoughts just went to Jay with his 7 brothers, dude could be in 3 countries at the same time and no one would lift a finger to find out if he was even alive. Darm Jay is one party animal, Joshua thought to himself. I would probably be a lunatic by now if I mowed down the wraps of hemp the son of a gun chimneys his way though everyday, he thought to himself as he chuckled at Jay's rascally ways.
The cursed alarm clock specially purchased by ever watchful mum rang out again, the silly thing was on a snooze.Craaang! craaang,! this time it was louder and straight into Joshua's ears, it's almost as if his mum made sure the house keeper placed the alarm close to his ears, because he could have sworn that he kept that clock inside his side cupboard rows and properly disengaged too, but it was it was 5.40, a time of prayers with the family and not to come down to the sitting room for this hallowed occasion was to choose a hellish day of constant analysis on whether Joshua was going make anything out of his life or not. so on the flip side alarm clock did nothing wrong. The alternative of making up a nice excuse why he could not honor the invitation to pray was not a favourable bargain.
Joshua lifts his hands in laziest way and slaps the clock shut. it's a new day after a a wild night of partying and fun and now he has to pray. he kept wondering how long he will have to put up appearances as put on his house footwear, he no longer cared if God existed or not. it didn't even matter anymore. if there was anything going for God, it was the interference He was running in his life. shut up stupid Alarm, Joshua mumbled and he sat up and looks through the window. It was just flickers of light from neighbors houses, and distant sound of early bird vehicles . The darkness still took a strong hold, .but he had a test at school, he needed to be in school very early and the prayer time might help put his schedule in a good order.
He was suddenly startled by gunshots that rang out at very close range, it seemed to be ringing out from a close neighbor's house. Robbers ? he thought to himself. I better get some of dispensable valuables handy, the silly police wouldn't even arrive until the robbery was over and the robbers safely home counting their loot, he analysed in his mind as he pulled some of his valuables that he felt he could live without, the he was sure to be better safe, than sorry, he quickly picked out his Apple laptop, his Rolex watch and the his $3000 he just picked up from his friend who had owed him for ages untill the money lost 15% percent of its value. for Joshua all those valuables didn't matter, if it would keep his family safe. however on a second thought, he called the police.
The shots rang out and Baang. Baang! Baaaaaang! all coming in a lightning speed succession, it seemed to be a powerful automatic rifle, a literal machine gun , and suddenly he could hear his house side gate bust open and glass portion shattered, his parents had already gone down for prayers, and. new fear came over him, my God, My God, Dad, Mum, (He said as he ducked behind the railing blind spot, suddenly he could hear the gunshot hit a main door downstairs his house. He crawled to see what was going on through the upstairs railings. He could make out Musa the gate man, Idara , his father's orderly lying facing upwards with what seemed like gunshot wounds. they didn't seem alive.
The armed men had entered the house house sitting room. they were all masked in black skimasks: so you thought you could escape the wrath Chief mc Peters. You think your little stunt would go unnoticed, well guess what. Today is judgement day and we are God, one of the fierce looking men said as he pointed the gun towards his father's temple, and at this point Josh knew that they were not robbers but assassins, his entire life flashed before his eye.
He couldn't believe this was actually happening, he had always known that the possiblity of having powerful enemies were ever present, afterall his father was a well known political figure, having sat in the Senate for over 15 years, even as at now, his father still held alot of weight in the Senate floor. He was a man not to be trifled with but for some reason still had his moral compass pointed in the right direction despite being in one of the world greatest cesspool of corruption. He probably had ruffled some feathers in the past, but today it seemed that the chicken had finally come home to roost.
He could hear his father pleading, his voice strong yet laden with more of pain than fear, please this is not worth taking a life.please don't kill me because of some stupid political move, I made. I swear, it was nothing personal.I only did what was best for my people, Josh could hear his dad plead as he laid face down.
Where is your family? we know you don't live alone. Josh could could hear another one of the armed men asking, and at that point he knew that none of odunzes were going to make out if this ordeal alive. It was over. They travelled to the states for the Holidays, his father responded in a muffled tone, but Josh knew that from how prepared these murderers seemed, it will not be long before he or his mother was found.
We will see about that, the first armed man responded as he motions to one of the boys to look around, the gang member quickly took the charge to search the house and it didn't take long before he dragged his mother out from most likely the kitchen area, and at that point Josh just wanted to just pick his father's gun from the room and waste the entire lot. he didn't mind getting killed, he was not going to hide from behind the railings while his parents were being killed, but he saw his mother look up at him and motion to him not to move. she seemed to be pleading with him with her eyes, sunny take them out, leave no one alive. Make it clean. the armed man who was most likely their ring leader ordered as Gunshots ring out, first his father and then his mother who was shot point blank. suddenly police sirens began to blare, this was almost 30 minutes after Josh had called them.
There seems to be no one else in the building, we have to bail now, the police in on our tail. let's scram! the one they called sonny said as he alerted the boys to leave, and they all quickly left leaving a trail of blood and loss for Josh.
Joshua steps out of his hiding place and felt his humanity lost. he didn't feel anything, no pain or anger, he just felt lost and numb, he floated down to the living room where his parents lay motionless, Dad! Mum! he called, but he knew it was useless, the bullets got them right on the head his father laid there in the pool of his blood, eyes open and blankly staring at the ceiling, while his mother's too slumped over throw pillow in praying position.
having being shot from the back of her head, all Josh could do was scream. He had no idea what he was saying or who he was screaming at, but he kept screaming until a policeman stood in front of him muttering something he really could not hear or understand, it felt like he was in another realm while still physically present on earth, that was the last he remembered, he went into coma, that will last for two whole months and a partial stroke on his left hand.
It's five years now and Joshua is sitting in a luxurious car, smoking Indian hemp and the smoke billows out through the window of his car. The memories never cease, it's my torment and cross now, I will have to live through it. he thought to himself. After waiting for almost 15 minutes, a well dressed man in a nice piece of suite came towards his parked car. Boss it's done! he says and he slightly bows in respect. Good! Joshua responds as he pulls up his shades, whines up his tinted car window and drives away.
