With the class dismissed, the four of them headed to the mess hall for lunch. Seating at the table eating Albert asks how their first meeting went.
"Great, she said she would do all the fighting so I can just relax"
"They said I was useless" Lydia softly speaks, upset with the remark.
Leon taps his utensil on the table as the others turn to him. A look of thought and anger appearing on his face.
"It seems we will be fighting individually. I would have thought the stronger students would take this seriously."
"Leon, that's how most of the students are. Generally you enrol here to get yourself a title and make connections." Albert explains.
"Leon, why did you come to the academy?" as her reason was similar to what Albert had mentioned she was curious as to how his reason differed.
"I came here in pursuit of strength. I intend to use it to protect the weak" Leon responds confidently.
While Albert and Lydia are shocked by the lofty goal, Victor answers "if your not just trying to play hero and instead care about the result, it might be better to do what Albert says. Marry into the Noble Six and use their power for your goals, simpler no?"
At the ridiculous thought Albert snorts "cause everyone can just do that. Even if you include people other than the named heirs, that would be only a dozen or so viable people. Why do you think they would chose someone from class E you idiot?"
"Just cause nobody would give you the time of day doesn't mean Leon would have the same problem. Anyway think about it, on the right you have defending the country against unbeatable monsters and on the left is wooing over some rich dunce" upset with Albert's comments he retorts.
As the two begin their verbal conflict, Leon thinks over the idea while he finishes his lunch.
Placing down his cutlery on the empty plate, he stands up and grabs it.
"Guys I have to go prepare for the team fight, I will catch you guys later."
As the rest give the goodbyes he heads towards the door after sending his plate back, only to be caught up the problem ahead.
"Hoh, the dog of the Reinhardt's has such thick skin still being here after that miserable defeat" the icy beauty flicks her hair as if saying the person opposite her is beneath her view.
"Shut up you bitch" at the easy goad, the tall woman rages at the insult.
"No wonder they kicked you out, its a disgrace to call you a noble."
At what Leon can only think is going to be a fight he tries to ignore it and continue walking.
"Wow they even let common filth like you in" at the sudden comment directed at him makes Leon's eyebrows twitch.
He frowns as he sees the blonde haired woman provoking him with a smirk.
"With Galatea as my partner, your pairing sure looks pitiful" Alice proudly proclaims in an effort to further humiliate him.
Whilst Leon didn't care much for her remarks, his partner didn't feel the same.
"What did you say?" she roars, as a no name now is offending her. Her sudden shout causes Alice to position herself behind Galatea.
Galatea finding new blood, changes her insult "partners? It looks like has already abandoned you Reinhardt, a smart one cutting lose the dead weight"
"Fine. Lets settle this" she quickly gathers magic around creating a wall of pressure.
"Duel. The exercise is meant to be a joint one, just cause you're a loner doesn't mean I am".
"Kid lets fight them" Hela turns round to find Leon had already left.
"Haha, how pitiful".
"We will fight tomorrow then", with that Hela turns to chase after Leon.
Leon having better things to with his time had left for the training facilities he had read about in the student handbook.
'They are meant to rather useful, I can't wait to try them.'
Before he can continue his walk a hand grabs hold of his shoulder stopping him.
"Why did you run away?"
Turning round to see Hela, Leon responds sharply "I didn't run I couldn't be bothered playing with your games", slightly annoyed with her action.
"Playing, you think I am playing? My honour is at stake and you just leave, making me look weak" the grip on his shoulder increasing.
He firmly brushes off her arm before responding "playing is exactly what you were doing. Instead of preparing for our upcoming fight you were starting another one."
Her anger boiling over, she sends a jab at him. Leon seeing it, dodges wide of it.
Calming her anger she shouts at him "tomorrow we will be fighting against them."
"Sure, it will be good to fight the number one student."
'I am the number one', she tells herself to calm down as she leaves.
Despite the distraction Leon soon arrives at the training facility.
Walking through the long halls he sees students training in the rooms. He continues until he finds an empty one down the end.
Walking into the large room he walks over to the control tablet.
'They truly are great.' Seeing the many functions that can be used, Leon can't help but smile.
'Given tomorrows fight, I should probably try an ice type beast with some blaster type traps.' Setting it so the class A Ice moth and several blasters will be summoned, he steps into the room.
'I suppose I should set a goal for this session, lets see, lasting ten
minutes at this setting will likely be enough for tomorrow. The fact
that the rooms completely heal you after each battle means I can stay
here all night if I need to'. Attaching a sword to his waist and
grabbing a spear, he steps forward. The battle begins.
A surge of icy wind is the opening move, the sound of the blasters soon
follows. Leon raises his spear with incredible speed, blocking them.
Moving his spear in front of him he tries to divert the cold wave. The
tip of the spear starting to freeze over from the hostile cold. Despite
this Leon was calm.
'I feel stronger today, now it's as if heat is flowing through my veins,
collecting at the tips of my limbs'. Focusing on the heat, a flame
slowly starts to form in his hands. The warmth brings comfort to his
chilled body rather than burning him. Pushing forwards now, he burst
forth at a speed he isn't accustomed to. The giant moth responds with a
screech, the temperature dropping even further. Reaching the moth he jumps forward hitting it with his flaming fist. As the monster is pushed back, Leon's body freezes over.
'1:26, not a bad start' the result of the battle had Leon lasting over a
minute, which for the first run he would normally be more excited about. He, however, was focused elsewhere.'There were definitely flames coming from my hands. Am I just a late bloomer?'
Walking over to glass panes Leon can see that the gem on his forehead had neither grown, nor changed
colour. 'Normally the colour is representative of the attribute, does
that mean my abilities are not fire related?'
Lost in thought he misses the entrance of people into the room.
