Luther, in the name of boredom, decides to go and see his favorite inmate. Someone who is in the deepest depths of the prison with the highest security. Well it is the highest, but due to the nature of this inmate, there is barely any security around. The only two people who can enter are the warden Lizbeth and the guardian Luther.
Luther enters the prison cell, in which a woman with dragon tail, horns and wings is being held in chackless made from the toughest metal smitten by dwarfs and enchanted with magic of elves.
Luther says "Greetings prisoner number 1. Oh, but you like when you are talked by name, so Miranda Skycleaver. The dragon of calamity." Miranda, a woman with long pitch black hair and the red ruby like eyes, says "Oh nice to see you again Luthy. Mira is just fine, as you know."
Both were smiling at each other and eventually the two started chatting. Mira says "So how is your current contractor?" Luther says "Naive as always. Thinking that some of this filth can be redeemed or something."
Then Mira says "So you think that she will try and make me reflect on my actions?" To which Luther says "Probably some day. But I honestly think that you are on the bottom of her list."
Mira closes her eyes as if she was proud and says "Well that is what destroying two countries does to you." Luther says "Yeah, there is no redeeming you."
Mira says "You know why I did it, don't you?" To which Luther says "Because they were rotten to the core. I wasn't paying attention to them at that time, so I can't say whether or not your reasoning was right. But I do know that killing civilians is something that is hard to justify."
Mira then smiles gently and says "Well you aren't wrong, but…" Then an extreme anger fills her face as she says "They all were rotten to the core no matter how hard I tried to fix them."
Luther stays silent for the time being and then Mira says after calming down with a satisfied look on her face "But now they are all gone, and that's all that matters." Luther then says "I'm not going to argue whether or not you did the right thing. I just came here to chat and share some sweets.
Mira's eyes light up as she hears the mention of sweets. Then Luther opens up a bag and brings out a cookie. Mira opens her mouth and closes her eyes expecting Luther to give her one, which Luther does as he can watch the face of the mass murderer who is overjoyed by the sweets in her mouth.
Then Mira says "Come to think of it, you are kind of in the same situation as me. Being a prisoner and all." Luther says "You mean my immortality?" Mira says "Yes, that. You said that you got it as a punishment for your own crimes. Care to elaborate?"
Luther thinks for a moment and then says "I guess it wouldn't hurt. We are kind of friends after all. Have you ever heard of the curse called "monster curse"?" Mira says "You mean a curse given by a monster?"
Luther says "No, I mean… I guess you haven't then. Well, I was born with the curse called "monster curse". It is a curse which makes you a monster, meaning you have the urge to kill. It is especially potent when I see people with good karma. That means I was bound to kill someone one day in one way or another. First I managed my condition by killing small animals like insects, rats and other wildlife I could get my hands on. I managed to hold on to it to adulthood. But then a child of one of the gods came knocking on my door and tried to fix me. A child full of innocence and good karma. You get where this is going."
Mira says "Holy hell, you killed an actual demigod." Luther says "Not just a demigod, an actual god. I have long since forgotten what the girl's sphere was or perhaps I never knew it, but the end result is what matters. My actions shook the gods as no mortal should have the power to kill a god, so they looked a little closer at my abilities and saw that I had the ability to kill gods. After they noticed this, they decided to go to a god of fate and see what my fate was like. She saw that I would kill the most innocent and kind hearted girl there was. Wanna guess who it is?"
Mira thinks for a moment and says "God of life?" To which Luther says "Good choice, but no. It is quite surprising, but the most innocent girl is the god of death Gilaia." Mira had a surprised look on her face and Luther said "I know, surprising isn't it? And now that you know that if I die, I will end up killing the god of death somehow. So what do you think would happen if the god of death would die?"
Mira says "Death wouldn't work correctly." Luther says "Correct. To be more precise, everyone would gain immortality. And once nothing can die, life in this world would collapse. And then there is the whole thing of what will happen to people in the afterlife. So in the end, they did the only thing they could do and prevent me from dying all together. And that's how I got to be immortal."
Mira says "Why not just delete you from existence?" To which Luther says "Only the god of death can fully make the soul of the dead disappear. They were afraid that in that moment I would do the deed and make everyone immortal."
Mira is speechless for a while, until she realizes something and says "Isn't the new warden kindhearted?" To which Luther says "Yes."
Then Mira says "So you…" and Luther continues "Feel the urge to kill her every moment I'm with her." Mira asks "How do you manage?" And Luther says "I have gotten used to it at this point."
Mira then says "So that's why you decided to settle in a prison with bad people. Not many people with good karma come in here." Luther says "That is correct. I tried to live normally once, but it was a disaster."
Mira then realizes something and asks "So how do I fare in all of this. What kind of karma am I emitting?" Luther says "While I don't sense the karma exactly, but my urge to kill you is less than most people."
Mira says disappointedly "So I'm overflowing with bad karma huh." Luther then says "Not exactly. If you held only bad karma from all the people you have killed, the urge to kill you would be much weaker. In my opinion, you somehow manage to hold both good and bad karma."
Mira says "Shouldn't they cancel each other out?" To which Luther says "That's what I believed at first, when I met you, I came up with another theory."
Mira asks "Care to tell me?" To which Luther says "I believe there are three types of karma. Good, neutral and bad. Neutral karma is hardest to keep, since it is overwhelmed by good and bad karma. On top of those three, there are separate states of karma, formed and unformed. unformed karma, be it good or bad, can be canceled by the opposite karma. Formed karma however is something that will stay in a person no matter how much of the opposite karma is accumulated. The latter is much more rare, but it still exists. But that is my theory anyway."
Mira says "Interesting take. Give me a cookie." Luther does so and Mira eats it happily. Luther keeps speaking "I may be an old being, but I don't think of myself as a smart person. When taken that into account, I don't think my theory of karma is that solid of a theory."
Mira says "I think it holds some weight. Or maybe you are misinterpreting why you feel some urge to kill me. But what matters the most is that I'm the person you feel the least amount of urge to kill, and that makes me happy."
Luther says "Why would it make you happy?" Mira says "Come on, aren't we a thing or something? We've known each other for so long that we might as well be pals." Luther just says that "You can know your enemy for all your life, but that doesn't mean they are pals."
Mira has a sarcastically sad face on her as she says "Oh my, my charms haven't won this man over. I guess I better improve myself in order to catch this man's heart. Oops, I forgot, I haven't been able to put on any makeup ever since I was imprisoned, so I guess I have to use my natural charms to the best of my ability to make do. Then again, I am quite confident in my natural charm, so feel free to fall in love with me."
Luther blatantly says "I refuse." Mira makes a sudden movement, as if she was hit with something, and then says "That actually hurt more than I thought it would. Oh little poor me. You can compensate by giving me another one."
Luther throws a cookie at Mira, who catches it like a dog. Luther can't help but feel at least a little joy in seeing her enjoy her sweets.
When Mira is done with that cookie, she asks "So back to your situation. Do you hate gods?" Luther says "Why would I? I am the one who's causing them so much trouble." Mira then says "But don't you wonder why you were born with the "monster curse" and the ability to kill a god?" Luther says "There is a possibility that some god made things like this in order to cause chaos to the world, but even if that is so, I don't have any malice to gods themselves."
Mira then comments "But you still feel like you might kill them if you see them." To which Luther says "By now that is just my nature."
After Mira eats another cookie, she says "You mentioned once that you were sealed away before you made a contract with one of the previous wardens." Luther says "That is correct."
Then Mira says "So is there someone stronger than you in this world that can do that?" To which Luther says "By force there is probably no one besides gods."
Mira says "So you were sealed voluntarily huh. For how long?" Luther says "I have long since forgotten. When the seal ran out of power and was broken, most of the countries that I knew had disappeared. Not that I can actually recall what those countries were, but still."
Mira says "So you weren't around when I was on a rampage. Why didn't you just say so?" Luther says "I could observe my surroundings to some degree, but it was greatly limited. But even though I was able to do that, I decided to sleep most of it."
Mira then asks "Were there any people you met when you were sealed?" Luther answers "I had some pleasant memories of people, but I can't recall their names or faces anymore."
Mira then says "You sure have forgotten a lot. Oh, perhaps you fell in love with someone but you can no longer remember. Now that is a tragic romance I'd read." Luther just says "Unlikely but plausible."
Mira then demands another cookie and Luther says "This is the last one I have." Mira has a sad face and says "No way. Then I must enjoy the taste to the best of my ability. Who knows when I get to eat more sweets."
Luther gives the cookie and Mira chews it happily without thinking of what she just said earlier. Then she realizes what she had done and gets a sad face again. Luther comforts her by patting her on the head and says "Don't worry. I'll come give you some more later." Then Luther starts to leave and takes one last look at Mira before leaving. Then he mutters "Shame such a beauty is locked in such a dark place." Mira asks "What did you say?" And Luther replies "Nothing important. See you around." And the door closes.
