Chereads / Monster Deity of Yltirix Bastion / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Beliefs

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Beliefs

One day Luther is walking across the halls of the prison making sure everything is in order. Even though there is no need for him to do this, he finds this enjoyable to some degree.

He gets in front of a door that holds one of the more dangerous prisoners. Opens the hatch to see inside of the cell and the inmate in question notices this. He says "What is our little guardian deity visiting me for?" Luther says "I'm just killing time talking to the more interesting prisoners."

The man says "You honor me dear guardian." Luther then says "Prisoner number 11217. Mark Horns. Convicted for the crimes of embezzlement, grand larceny, manslaughter and several murders."

Mark says "I still feel quite pissed that they call that one time manslaughter and not murder as if I wasn't in control of the situation at the time." Luther chuckles and says "You want more years added to your sentence?" To which Mark says "It's just the principle of the matter. In any case, what part of me is doing all that makes you interested in me?"

Luther says "Not the crimes themselves, but the circumstances behind them. You were once regarded as one of the best knights in the country." Mark says "So? Disappointed?"

Luther says "No, I'm just impressed that you managed to hide your crimes even though the media paid attention to your actions far before your crimes were found out." Mark says "What can I say, I'm quite a celebrity."

Luther then adds "And then there is the fact that you didn't deny any of the accusations when you were in the court." Mark says "When you know that your opponent has cards that counter yours and then some, you kind of lose interest in the whole process."

Luther then says "I suppose that is true. I too find it dull when there are no variables in the hunt. You'll just have to make the whole process interesting by some other means like handicapping yourself." Mark says "I knew that someone would get it."

Then Luther says "Moving on. You also have a wife and three kids. May I ask if they were part of your little game as well?" Mark says "You see right through me. Just wanted to add a little flavor to the life I was living. You know, besides killing people for fun."

Luther says "I take it your family didn't take it lightly." To which Mark says "My wife went ballistic, which is not that surprising. She has always been such a hothead. My son was disgusted by me and one of my daughters was in denial. Don't know about the third since she was in the hospital and I didn't get to see her."

Luther asks "How do you think she took it?" And Mark says "Probably disbelief for a while, but she is a smart one, so she might connect the few dots that I might have shown during my time as her father."

Luther then says "I know this won't be earth shattering to you, but she died from her illness a few days after your sentence was decided." Mark just says "I see. And you are right, I barely feel anything after hearing that."

Luther says "I heard that she says she wished that this all was a nightmare and she would wake up soon shortly before she passed." Mark asks "Are you trying to get a reaction from me? You know that it's pointless."

Luther says "I do know that it serves no purpose telling you this. I just believe that a parent has the right to know of their child's passing no matter how indifferent they are about it." Mark asks "Was your true purpose to come and tell me that?" To which Luther says "No, just a passing comment really. Now then, I think that's enough."

Luther starts to leave, but then he comes back to ask "While I'm at it, do you want to send a message to your family?" Mark thinks for a moment and comes up with "Nah. I'm good." Then Luther leaves for good.

Luther then stops at another prisoner's cell to chat. He opens the hatch and says "Prisoner number 16167. Luciana Flintcherman. Convicted for the crimes of brainwashing, murder, operating an illegal cult and terrorism."

The cell is quiet but Luther senses that she is still in there and conscious. He says "How has your time been here, little Lucy?" Lucy says with a really calming voice "I find it insulting for a child to call me a little. Nevertheless, I am a forgiving person so I'll forgive your sins. For now at least."

Luther says "To me, you are the child since you haven't even lived to your forties." Lucy just says calmly "I sense that in terms of age, you are quite an old being indeed. But when it comes to mental age, I find that you are still just a child compared to me who has seen the light. If you find it in yourself to let me inside your heart, I might be able to make you a proper person like yours truly."

Luther says "I'm not necessarily afraid of your tactics, but I'm not dumb enough to give you the chance to manipulate me into your little pawn. And when it comes to your little tactics, I'm far ahead of you. You are trying to pry into my past to find a spot where you can manipulate me. Even though your magic is being jammed, you still are quite the manipulator."

Lucy says "I think your wariness of me is a sign that you believe that I can manipulate you. If you are that afraid of me, then there is no helping it. We will build our trust slowly and perhaps we will start to understand each other better. And who knows, perhaps we can help one another when we reach that point."

Luther says "If you are so eager to pry into my past, then how about I do the same." Luther phases through the door and grabs Lucy by her chin. She has violet eyes and medium length black hair. She looks gorgeous, pretty and she exudes the aura that makes people want to trust her with all their heart.

Lucy is smiling gently, wondering why the so-called monster deity of Yltirix Bastion is getting so clingy. She makes sure to look as harmless as she can in front of Luther to lower his wariness of her.

Then they look into each other's eyes and Lucy takes this chance to try to hypnotize Luther with her eyes. But as soon as she was doing that, she felt that something was being drained from her the longer she stared at his eyes. Her voice trembled a bit as she asked in the sweetest voice she could muster at the moment "What are you doing?"

Then Luther closed his eyes, and the weird feeling Lucy was having stopped. Then Luther opened his eyes again and said "You have succubus heritage and you were abused by your adoptive family with sexual abuse added from the adoptive father and your adoptive brothers."

Lucy looked surprised and she uttered "What do you…" Then Luther continued "To combat this, you learned to stay out of sight and look as harmless as you could. To make sure you weren't abused, you started using your innate power to manipulate people around you. At some point you even let your only friend be sexually assaulted by one of your adoptive brothers."

Lucy looks at Luther in disbelief and asks "How do you know this?" Luther just says "I have a way to look into people's memories. It wasn't hard for me to get to your childhood trauma and figure things out. I must say, you managed to handle the situation quite well without contacting the authorities. Then again, your trust in people was lowered to such a point that you feared that informing authorities would only make you change houses to a possibly more messed up situation. And since the majority of authorities tend to be male, you weren't very hopeful that they would be any different. Even me being near you and touching your chin, you are experiencing great unease. I have to give you props though, you have learned how to manage your fear of men quite well."

Lucy was still trembling as she said in quite a calm tone "You say that, yet you aren't loosening your hold one bit." Luther just says "Why would I accommodate a criminal's preferences when they themselves don't care for other people's feelings? Even if I know the circumstances you grew up in, I still won't let myself feel sorry for someone who manipulates others to suit their needs."

Lucy, still trembling, says with a fake smile "You really are a brute of a man. If… if you just let me heal you, I'll be able to make others accept you. After all, you are afraid of how others see you, aren't you?"

Luther says "Maybe deep down I want to get along with people, but I have long since given up the possibility of me being accepted. But then again…" Luther grabs Lucy's head with both of his hands and stares deeply into her eyes as he says "Perhaps if I just eat you up, I'll be able to receive your little healing factor. After all, I have quite an adaptive ability."

Lucy couldn't muster any strength to speak. She felt like she was about to get violated yet again. She couldn't help but close her eyes and accept her fate, but then Luther let go of Lucy and he started to leave her room. Lucy didn't understand the situation, but managed to mutter "What are you…"

Luther then left the room the same way he entered and said from the hatch "You were thinking that I would pleasure myself by forcing myself onto you, didn't you? While your innate charm is quite powerful, I have met plenty of other women that had me more turned on than you. So don't get full of yourself thinking you are the most charming person in the prison."

Lucy is stunned by what Luther says and she is feeling something in her that she didn't feel before. Then Luther says "I won't condone your actions and I won't make any effort to make you feel more comfortable during your sentence. But I must say that you are lucky that this prison separates inmates by gender, so you don't have to worry about getting violated. You are also lucky, since the current warden made sure that the guards taking care of you were all women. Well, that is generally how things have worked ever since the rule to separate the genders were put into action, but the current warden made extra sure there weren't any men guards coming here ever since you came in. Well, I'm an exception, but still. I always wondered why she made this accommodation when you came, but I'm sure now that she had investigated your past to some degree. Personally, I don't think prisoners should be given such treatment, but the warden is the boss, so I have nothing to say against her. Now then, I guess that's enough entertainment for today. Good night."

Luther closes the hatch and Lucy is clutching her chest. She doesn't know what this feeling is, but she can't help but to see this man more. She thinks "He didn't feel any attraction towards me, but why am I feeling this way? Why do I feel like I want to actually use my charms to win him over or something? Do I…" She starts to blush as she thinks. Then she shakes her head violently in order to get a grip.

Meanwhile Luther is leaning on a wall outside of the building that Lucy was in. He is screaming internally "DAMN THAT WAS CLOSE! My urge to kill somehow was turned into lust and I almost went over the line."

Luther is gripping his head as he thinks "I've never actually met a succubus before, so I didn't know this would happen. Who would have guessed that my curse can be diverted this way. Damn, I need to be more careful in the future."

Meanwhile in the warden's office Liz receives a message that Luther went to the section where women were placed. Liz thanks to being informed about this and wonders to herself "Since there is a succubus in there now, perhaps I should have also limited Luther's access to it. But then again, he is our guardian deity, so perhaps there is a reason to not do so. Hmmm…"

Then Liz thinks for a minute and comes to a conclusion "Don't try to fix something that isn't broken. Since Luciana's crimes weren't about her being a succubus, it should be fine."

Liz gets back to work, but then a thought comes to her head "I wonder if Luciana's crimes are related to her past traumas. I need to ask Luther to investigate this someday."
