Chereads / My Mate Is a Werewolf / Chapter 23 - 23

Chapter 23 - 23

A hand clasps over my mouth and panic washes over me.

"Silence!"

I stop my struggling startled by the cold tone in his voice. A large black wolf walks into sight and my breathe catches in my throat. The wolf stops, its fiery gaze scanning through the room as its nose was picking up scents in the air. Am pressed back against my attacker and the warmth of his body flows down my trembling back.

"Stay still!" The guy furiously whispers against my ear and I swallow hard trying to calm my nerves.

In silence, the both of us watch with bated breathes as the wolf's gaze rests on our hiding spot. The guy tightens his grip on my waist and pulls me closer to him as the wolf draws near the pillar and I shut my eyes.

(Am done for!)

After a few minutes of stillness, I slowly open my eyes and see no sight of the wolf. The hand on my mouth drops and I turn around and look up the tall frame.

"You-"

He smiles before walking out of the shadows.

"And where did you think you're going?"

"Um…"

I shuffle my feet under his gaze and he merely grunts in displeasure.

"Well?"

"You have no right to lock me up!"

He slightly recoils by my sudden outburst.

"You brought me here against my will and you expect me to just stay still like an obedient little puppy? I want to go HOME!"

The guy looks at me with an amused expression and the rage inside me dissipates.

(Wow, I really needed to let all that out.)

"Come with me."

Before waiting for me to reply, he turns and I rush after him. We navigate through a series of turns and I marvel at the different paintings lining the walls.

(I wonder if there is anything behind all these paintings.)

"Those are paintings of our ancestors' war against the vampires."

(Did he just read my thoughts?)

"War? Wait a minute, I've read about it."

He stops abruptly turning to me and I bump onto his chest.

"Oh really."

"Yes. But I only thought it was a modern legend, I never expected it to be true," I reply rubbing my forehead.

He mutters silently to himself before turning on his heels and walking down the path.

"What's his problem?"

Shrugging defiantly, I follow behind him and soon we come to a stop by a huge door. He pushes the door open and disappears into the room.

(Great! Just where I'd like to be after running away.)

I walk in after him closing the door softly behind me. The guy seats on the bed and taps the area next to him. I look from him to the bed before sitting by the door hands crossed across my chest.

"Humans are so stubborn."

Seeing as I don't react, he runs a hand through his hair before his eyes land on mine.

"Do you want to go home? I might know of a way to send you back to your treacherous world."

"I don't believe that. For all I know you are completely messing with me right now."

"How dare you say that to me. Do you know who I am?"

"A kidnapper is what you are," I reply not bothering to hide the anger in my voice.

His eyes widen in surprise and he throws his head back in a roar of laughter.

"You amuse me human."

"I have a name and it's Nine."

"I don't need to know your name woman, now be a good little pet and come to your master."

"Hmph! Go find someone desperate for your nonsense."

I close my eyes and turn my head from him. A knock sounds from the door and the guy lets out a silent growl.

"Come in Finn."

The door creaks open and the guy from before walks into sight.

"Leo, dinner is ready."

"We'll be down in a few, thank you."

The guy Finn, bows and walks out.

"We will continue this after dinner."

He walks up to me and furiously grabs my wrist pulling me to my feet.

"Hey! Watch it!"

Completely ignoring my shouts, he pulls me out of the room and walks down the hallway. After a few minutes, we arrive at a large room with a huge table at the centre. My eyes scan the nearly empty room an uneasy feeling creeping up my spine.

"Please, take a seat."

"No thanks am not hungry."

I try to wretch my hand free but his grip only tightens and I bite my lower lip silencing a scream.

"You'll do as you are told pet."

He throws me onto the chair and I lower my gaze to the floor.

(Come on Nine. Don't trust them, you'll be fine.)

I continuously try to calm myself and my stomach grumbles loudly in protest causing my ears to flush in embarrassment.

"Drop the tough guy act, if you want to survive here, you need to learn to follow the rules," Leo says waving over a guy to the table," I suggest you do as I say."

Plates were placed in front of us and Leo didn't waste a second before digging into the chunks of meat. I look at him wolf down the meat like a predator would it's prey and I shake my head the uneasy feeling from before creeping up my spine again. I lazily poke at the food before, my head rested on my chin. As I bring a slice of meat to my mouth, something catches my eye. Using the fork, I clear the chunks of meat before landing on some strange hair. Using the little light illuminated through the glass windows, the fork falls from my finger as I bring both hands to my mouth.

"That's human-"

My eyes travel across the table and land on Leo who has just cleared his plate. He licks what I can only assume is blood from his lips before his gaze lands on me causing my body to freeze.
